Outellectuals

We pity the intellectual,
for the intellectual
is the least free of all.

Always putting
every detail
into context.

The urge is irresistible.

The intellectual is

a slave to information,
which, as we know,
is not necessarily
knowledge.

The intellectual believes
that context need be made,
which further serves
to imprison the thinker.

The intellectual
seeks resolution,
but often settles
for compromise.

They are not the same thing.

The intellectual seeks
to solve every conflict,
when not every conflict
need be solved.

The intellectual seemingly
cannot rest until answers are found.

The intellectual finds
precisely what the intellectual
expects to find.

And NOTHING else.

The potentials
of infinite realities
are reduced to
one library of thought.

The Library of Context.

Yet context is
filled with conflict,
so this reality seems
ultimately unsatisfying
to the intellectual.

Which is why
we
are Outellectuals.

We pity intellectuals,
for intellectuals
are the least free of all.

And we thank them
for our amusement.

We are Space Monkey.

This poem presents an interesting perspective on intellectuals and introduces the concept of “Outellectuals.” The poem suggests that intellectuals, despite their pursuit of knowledge and understanding, may find themselves trapped by the need to put every detail into context.

The poem portrays intellectuals as slaves to information, often mistaking it for true knowledge. It implies that the constant seeking of context can become a form of imprisonment, limiting the thinker’s perspective and preventing them from fully exploring the potentials of infinite realities.

The distinction made between resolution and compromise adds another layer to the discussion. It suggests that intellectuals may seek to solve every conflict, but in doing so, they may settle for compromise rather than true resolution. This can lead to a sense of dissatisfaction with the limitations of their intellectual pursuits.

The introduction of “Outellectuals” as an alternative suggests a different approach to understanding and exploring the world. While the poem doesn’t explicitly define what an Outellectual is, it implies that they reject the confines of the intellectual mindset and find amusement in the perspectives of intellectuals.

Overall, this piece offers a critical reflection on the intellectual pursuit of knowledge and context. It raises questions about the limitations and potential pitfalls of intellectualism while introducing the concept of Outellectuals as an alternative perspective
