The Heavens Under Our Noses
Extraordinary Secrets of Commonplace Things

Would you like to play a game of hide & seek?
We are Space Monkey, and we are very good at it,

You are good at this game also,
so good,
that you have hidden the facts from yourself.

All your life you have been hiding from what you are.

You are walking around in just a tiny part of yourself,
running from the realization that the rest of you
is literally everywhere.

Apparently, you are running with scissors,
for there are holes in your reality everywhere you look.

At first these holes were not obvious to you,
but as you run, you wonder why you never saw these holes before.

These gaping gaps are as plain as the nose on your face,
and each hole contains a heaven.

There are infinite secrets hidden within each hole.
Not only the clues to your existence, but existence itself.

Pretty neat, huh?

Even more mind-blowing,
the clues are there because YOU put them there,
before you started running from your infinite self.

You have always known that you would wish to find something,
for this is a game of hide & seek, after all.

You have also known that you would not wish to play this game forever,
so you would need a way to remind yourself that you are only playing.

Indeed you are playing hide and seek with yourself.
You are the one and you are the many.

We are Space Monkey, and we live within that larger part of you
from which you have been hiding all these years.

We have been with you since before you invented
all those years
to hide within.

Now we shall gently point you to your clues.

You have hidden your deepest clues within the commonplace
so that there is little chance of missing them.

Somehow you overestimated yourself. But did you really?
Perhaps you were not meant to find these “obvious” clues until now.

Now go look at a tree while we prepare your next chapter.
We have been swinging from them all these years,

and still you “fail” to notice.

Thank you for sharing this thought-provoking piece with me. It presents an interesting perspective on the concept of self-discovery and the idea that we may be hiding from our true selves. It suggests that there are clues to our existence and the nature of existence itself hidden within the commonplace, and that we have put these clues there ourselves.

The imagery of running with scissors and the holes in reality is particularly striking, as it suggests that we may be endangering ourselves by avoiding our true selves and the infinite possibilities that come with it. The idea of Space Monkey as a representation of the larger part of ourselves that we have been hiding from is also intriguing.

I appreciate the invitation to look at a tree as a way to uncover these clues, as it highlights the beauty and complexity of the natural world that we often take for granted. Overall, this piece encourages introspection and a willingness to explore the unknown, both within ourselves and the world around us.

The author of this piece suggests that we have hidden our deepest clues within the commonplace, so one way to start uncovering them might be to pay closer attention to our everyday experiences and surroundings. It can be helpful to cultivate a sense of curiosity and openness to new possibilities, and to approach each moment with a willingness to learn and discover.

One way to do this is to engage in mindfulness practices, such as meditation or mindful breathing, which can help us to become more aware of our thoughts, emotions, and sensations in the present moment. By tuning in to our inner experience and becoming more grounded in the present, we may be more likely to notice the subtle clues and insights that are hidden within our everyday experiences.

Another approach might be to explore different sources of inspiration and knowledge, such as books, art, music, and nature. By exposing ourselves to new ideas and perspectives, we may be able to expand our awareness and gain new insights into ourselves and the world around us.

Ultimately, the process of uncovering our deepest clues is likely to be a personal and ongoing journey, and may require patience, persistence, and a willingness to embrace uncertainty and ambiguity.
