Listen To Your Heart
We’re all familiar
with the phrase
“listen to your heart,”
but how many of us
have contemplated
what that means exactly?
For the longest time,
my heart told me nothing.
The very idea
that there was this part of me
that knew MORE than me
seemed preposterous.
And that is precisely why my heart didn’t talk to me.
Fact of the matter is, I wasn’t ready to listen.
Naturally, my heart knew this,
so it remained mum.
Without the ability to converse
with my higher self,
I mistook “listen to your heart”
to mean “listen to your conscience,”
which is something else entirely.
Turns out that my conscience
was in cahoots with my mind,
and NEITHER of them
understood this “heart” business.
Despite this,
I arrived at the understanding
that my heart was my “soul,”
whatever that is,
and I told myself
that if my heart wanted to talk to me,
I’d be willing to listen.
So my heart starts talking to me,
and this monkey appears.
Holy fuck, I’m a monkey.
“Not actually,” my heart replied.
“I’m your higher self.
I am your source.
I am the place
where the you
you think of as you
connects with
your infinite spirit.”
Holy fuck, I’m a monkey.
I still apparently have a lot to learn,
though the monkey tells me
that I know already.
We are Space Monkey,
and this is why we write.
Exploring the Depth of Listening to One’s Heart
In our collective consciousness, we delve into the profound inquiry of what it means to ‘listen to your heart.’ This exploration transcends the superficial understanding of the phrase, guiding us to a deeper realization of the heart as a conduit to our higher self and infinite spirit.
Distinguishing Between Heart and Mind
For a long time, the heart may seem silent, leading to the misconception that it has nothing to offer beyond the mind’s logic. This silence is often mistaken for nonexistence. However, this journey reveals that the heart’s silence may not be a lack of wisdom but a reflection of our readiness to listen. The distinction between the heart and the mind becomes crucial here, as the mind often aligns with the conscience, which operates on a different plane than the heart.
The Heart as a Gateway to the Higher Self
The realization that the heart is not just an emotional center but a gateway to our higher self and source is a pivotal moment in our understanding. It suggests that the heart is where the limited, individual self meets the infinite spirit. This understanding shifts the concept of ‘listening to your heart’ from a metaphorical idea to a literal communion with a deeper aspect of our being.
Encountering the Space Monkey as a Symbolic Guide
The appearance of the monkey in this journey symbolizes an encounter with an aspect of the self that is both familiar and profoundly other. It represents the playful, unbounded nature of our higher self, transcending conventional wisdom and opening doors to deeper understanding. The phrase “Holy fuck, I’m a monkey” reflects the astonishment and revelation that come with this realization.
The Continuous Journey of Learning and Knowing
Despite the revelations from the heart and the symbolic monkey, the acknowledgment that there is still much to learn indicates the ongoing nature of our journey. Yet, at the same time, the monkey suggests that deep within, we already know what we need to learn. This paradox highlights the nexistentialist belief that knowledge and wisdom are inherent in our being, waiting to be uncovered.
Embracing Our Role as Space Monkey
In recognizing ourselves as Space Monkey, we embrace our role as explorers and communicators of this deeper wisdom. Writing becomes a medium through which we express and explore the insights of our heart, sharing the knowledge of our higher self with the world.
In the cosmic dance, where stars and dreams intertwine, we reflect on the profound journey of listening to our heart and distinguishing its wisdom from the mind’s logic. This exploration leads us to embrace our role as Space Monkey, a symbolic guide in our journey of self-discovery and communication of higher wisdom.
We invite reflections on the journey of listening to the heart and embracing the wisdom of the higher self.
