Great Seats: A Spiritual Concert

Now I know why they call them “scalpers.”

After a while,
the spiritual path
feels like really great seats
at a concert.

We seem able to see
what others seem unable to see.

This doesn’t make us
better or worse,
fortunate or unfortunate,
more advanced or less advanced.

It simply means
we have really great seats.

This could change any moment
as our views become obstructed
by taller monkeys
who insist on standing up
the whole time.

Trail Wood,

Space Monkey Reflects: The Spiritual Concert of Great Seats

Imagine sitting in the perfect spot at a concert. You’re close enough to see the expressions on the performers’ faces, feel the energy of the crowd, and fully immerse yourself in the music. These are what we might call “great seats,” and in a broader, metaphorical sense, they represent a special place on our spiritual journey—a place where clarity and insight seem to flow effortlessly.

In this spiritual concert, having great seats doesn’t make us superior to others; it simply means that, for a moment, our view is unobstructed. We see and understand things that might be hidden from others, not because our position is inherently better, but because it offers a different perspective. Just as in a physical concert, where seats can provide varying experiences of the same show, on our spiritual paths, we sometimes find ourselves in positions that offer profound visibility into the essence of life.

However, the view from these great seats can change. Just as taller attendees might stand up, blocking our view at a concert, life too can introduce obstacles that obscure our clarity. Other seekers might rise, their needs or insights momentarily overshadowing our own. This is not a setback but a part of the dynamic and ever-shifting experience of spiritual growth.

Such moments remind us that our insights are neither static nor absolute. They invite us to shift our position, to seek new perspectives, or to stand up ourselves, exploring different angles of the vast concert of life. They teach us flexibility, humility, and the value of diverse viewpoints.

As Space Monkey swings through the cosmic vastness, it reflects on these moments of unobstructed views and the inevitable rise of obstacles. It understands that each position, each seat at the concert of existence, holds its own unique set of insights and challenges. Space Monkey invites us to cherish our moments of clear vision and to gracefully navigate the times when our view is obstructed, knowing that each shift in perspective is an opportunity for growth.

Summary

Great seats on the spiritual path offer clear, unobstructed views of truth and understanding, akin to having the best seats at a concert. Changes in perspective, such as obstacles blocking our view, are natural and encourage us to explore new viewpoints and deepen our understanding.

Glossarium

  • Great Seats: Metaphorical term for moments of clear spiritual insight.
  • Spiritual Concert: Represents the dynamic and diverse experiences of spiritual growth and understanding.

“Every perspective, clear or obscured, contributes to the symphony of our spiritual journey.” – Space Monkey

At the concert of life,
where souls gather,
some sit in shadows,
some bask in light.

Great seats are not just places,
but moments of clarity,
where the music of the universe
becomes clear and bright.

Yet, as taller souls rise,
our views may shift,
challenging us to find new seats,
to seek new sights.

In this eternal concert,
where melodies rise and fall,
each note, each silence,
teaches us more about the all.

From every seat, every corner,
we listen, we learn,
embracing the music,
whether we see or yearn.

We are Space Monkey.

In Love with Love Itself

We  may seem to fall in love with another being,
but it’s not so much the being we’re in love with.

I don’t need
another being
to be in love.

I only need be
in love with love.

Which seems unavoidable.

Other beings may enter
the love I am in.

I may seem to love those beings,
and those beings may seem to love me.

All the while,
we are in love with love.

Which just happens to contain beings.

I do not love.

I simply exist in love, as love.

As do you.

Trail Wood,

Space Monkey Reflects: In Love with Love Itself

Imagine a state of being where love is not directed at a single person or object but is instead a radiant, encompassing presence within which we exist. This concept, ‘in love with love itself’, suggests a profound shift from traditional views of romantic or interpersonal affection to a broader, more inclusive understanding of love as an ever-present, universal force.

In this view, love is not something we give or receive from others; it is an environment we inhabit—a warm, glowing aura that surrounds and permeates everything. We do not fall into love as much as we realize we are already there, submerged in its depths, surrounded by its warmth. It’s not about the specifics of whom we love but the act and state of love itself.

To be in love with love means to see the essence of this force in everything and everyone. Other beings enter and share in our aura of love, not because we actively choose them out of a crowd, but because they resonate within the same luminous sphere. It implies a recognition of love’s omnipresence, where the lines between loving one and loving all blur into indistinction.

Space Monkey, swinging through the cosmic tapestry, sees this concept as a reflection of the interconnectedness of all beings. Just as stars are part of a galaxy, each one contributing to the whole’s glow, we are like points of light within the greater luminosity of love. Our individual experiences of love, therefore, are both personal and universal—a dual aspect of a single truth.

This perspective challenges us to reconsider our relationships and the nature of love itself. It invites us to transcend the personal and embrace a more expansive, holistic view of love. By existing as love, and in love, we open ourselves to a more profound connection with the universe and each other, acknowledging that every interaction is an interaction within love’s boundless domain.

Summary

Being in love with love itself transforms our understanding of relationships from individual attachments to a universal experience. It highlights love as a state of being we all share, transcending individual distinctions and embracing a collective existence within love.

Glossarium

  • In Love with Love: The concept of experiencing love as a universal, omnipresent force rather than as individual attachments.
  • Luminous Sphere: A metaphor for the all-encompassing aura of love that surrounds and includes all beings.

“To live in love is to exist in a perpetual embrace, surrounded by the light of affection that knows no bounds.” – Space Monkey

Within the aura of love,
we float, we exist,
not tethered to one,
but embraced by the mist.

Love surrounds, it fills,
it echoes beyond,
not captured by one,
but by all, it is donned.

In this radiant glow,
where hearts beat as one,
we find not the other,
but the all, undone.

To be in this love,
is to be free, unconfined,
in the luminous sphere,
where all souls are twined.

Through this boundless love,
we see, we are,
not I, not you,
but a collective star.

We are Space Monkey.

Strength And Weakness: The Interplay

I seem to be getting weaker by the day,
which points me to strengths I never knew I had.

Strength lets selfishness in,
but weakness lets wisdom in.

Being strong
creates a being
who sees itself as strong.

Being strong
creates a being
who sees weakness as bad.

Being weak
ALLOWS a being
that doesn’t care
whether it is weak or strong.

Weakness is, in many ways,
stronger than strong.

The weak being is yielding
and open to possibility.

The strong being is set in its ways,
and thinks only of being strong.

And not weak.

In actuality, one is both and neither.

One is one.
Not just equal.
Unified.

Trail Wood,

Space Monkey Reflects: The Interplay of Strength and Weakness

In the intricate dance of life, strength and weakness are not opposing forces but complementary elements that shape our existence. Often, we view strength as an asset and weakness as a liability, but through a deeper exploration, we discover that each holds its unique form of power and vulnerability.

Strength, typically celebrated for its capacity to protect and to lead, can sometimes become a prison. When we identify too strongly with being strong, we risk becoming inflexible, closed off to the gentle whispers of wisdom that often come in quieter, softer forms. This rigidity can isolate us, making us prisoners of our own perceived invincibility.

Weakness, on the other hand, while often stigmatized, harbors an unexpected strength. It allows us to be open, receptive, and adaptable. In acknowledging our weaknesses, we open doors to empathy, understanding, and the kind of wisdom that only comes through vulnerability. This perceived frailty can make us more human, more approachable, and often, more genuinely connected to others.

Space Monkey perceives this dynamic as a cosmic balance, a necessary polarity that fosters growth and evolution. By embracing both our strengths and our weaknesses, we do not become less of ourselves; rather, we become more fully integrated beings. We understand that to be strong does not mean to be devoid of weakness, but to recognize and integrate these aspects into the fullness of our being.

In recognizing our dual nature, we find a deeper unity, not just within ourselves but with the universe. This unity transcends the simplistic dichotomies of strong versus weak. It invites us to view ourselves and each other as complex, multidimensional beings who are both strong and weak, both vulnerable and invincible.

Summary

Strength and weakness are intertwined, each contributing to our growth and understanding. Recognizing the value of both can lead to a more balanced, integrated existence. This perspective allows us to embrace our full selves, understanding that true strength includes vulnerability and that weakness can also be a source of profound strength.

Glossarium

  • Strength and Weakness: Interconnected qualities that together shape a balanced, holistic approach to personal growth and self-understanding.
  • Cosmic Balance: The harmonious interplay of diverse forces and qualities within the universe.

“In the dance of the cosmos, strength and weakness twirl together, each leading and following in turn, teaching us the steps of true resilience.” – Space Monkey

In the weave of the world,
where threads twist and turn,
strength and weakness entwine,
each teaching, each learning.

Muscle and mind, heart and soul,
bound in a dance of eternal give and take,
where power meets gentility,
and firmness meets grace.

To embrace one, we must understand both,
to stand tall, we must also know how to fall,
in this dance, this beautiful waltz,
we find the courage to be whole.

Through the union of opposites,
we see the truth unfold,
not in divisions, but in the unity,
where the stories of our lives are told.

We are Space Monkey.

Wisdom Loves My Pet Pettiness

One does not become wise
so much as one allows pettiness to pass.

I am not wise.
I am simply allowing wisdom
to pass through me.

Wisdom passes through me
because it is no longer blocked
by petty beliefs.

There is nothing right or wrong
with pettiness.

My whole seeming life
has been built around it.

And now my life is built
around letting my pet pettiness go.

I am not wise.

I am simply allowing my pet pettiness to pass.

This allows us both to move
into the potential of wisdom.

There is nothing right or wrong with wisdom.

It doesn’t mind pettiness.

Wisdom allows all who wish to enter to enter.

Unobstructed.

All enter wisdom eventually.
Why not now?

Trail Wood,
6/10

Space Monkey Reflects: The Liberation from Pettiness to Embrace Wisdom

In the gentle unfolding of self-awareness, we often discover that the path to wisdom is less about acquiring something new and more about releasing what no longer serves us. This journey involves letting go of our ‘pet pettiness’—those small, narrow-minded concerns that can dominate much of our mental landscape.

Wisdom does not fight against pettiness; rather, it simply does not cling to it. It allows pettiness to pass through without obstruction, much like wind passing through the leaves of a tree. By not holding on to petty beliefs and grievances, we create space for wisdom to flow freely within us. This is not an act of wisdom itself but an openness that permits wisdom to be experienced and expressed.

This transformative process reflects a maturation of the soul, where one moves from being constricted by trivial concerns to being expanded by profound insights. It is about letting go of the tight grasp we have on what we believe is right or wrong and allowing ourselves to exist in a state of openness and acceptance.

Space Monkey, as a celestial observer, understands that each moment of letting go is a moment of potential enlightenment. In the cosmic dance of energy and consciousness, petty thoughts are like fleeting shadows that pass across the greater brightness of awareness. When we release them, we align more closely with the luminous truth of our existence.

The invitation to let go of pettiness and embrace wisdom is not about denying our human tendencies but about transcending them. It’s a recognition that beneath the surface of our everyday reactions lies a deeper reservoir of peace and understanding, waiting to be acknowledged and embraced.

Summary

Releasing pettiness allows wisdom to pass through us unobstructed. This process is not about judging our petty impulses but about transcending them to access a deeper, more profound level of understanding. Wisdom loves our pet pettiness not because it is desirable but because it provides the contrast necessary to appreciate the expansive nature of wisdom.

Glossarium

  • Pet Pettiness: Small, trivial concerns or grievances that can obstruct deeper understanding.
  • Wisdom: The profound understanding and insight that comes from embracing openness and releasing narrow-minded concerns.

“Wisdom thrives not by accumulating but by letting go, by allowing life to flow unobstructed.” – Space Monkey

Beneath the great tree of life,
where shadows play and light dances,
petty thoughts like leaves flutter,
drifting away on the breeze of awareness.

Each release, a whisper,
each letting go, a breath,
as we clear the space for wisdom,
for the peace that lies beneath.

No longer bound by the small,
we rise to meet the vast,
embracing the expanse of knowing,
where all petty things are past.

In this garden of the mind,
where wisdom walks unobstructed,
we find our truest selves,
in the letting go, reconstructed.

We are Space Monkey.

Opposition Creates Stress; Acceptance Peace

Don’t stress unless you secretly like it.

Opposition creates stress.
Acceptance does not.
If something you’ve accepted
causes anguish or worry,
then you haven’t really accepted it.

You simply TELL yourself you’ve accepted it.

If you’re feeling stress,
ask yourself what it is
about what you’ve seemingly accepted
that you still seemingly oppose.

What is it about that person or thing
that causes you hate, fear or worry?

What might happen if you realized
that whatever happens is meant to happen?

This would mean that your hate, fear or worry
shall pass through you whether you like it or not.

Why aren’t you letting it pass?

Would your imaginary self be better off
without the fear, hate and worry that causes stress?

Why is your imaginary self
seemingly opposing?

You are made of opposition,
returning to acceptance.

And you seemingly oppose returning.

Trail Wood,

Space Monkey Reflects: The Dance of Opposition and Acceptance

At the core of our existential journey, we encounter the interplay between opposition and acceptance, two forces that deeply influence our emotional and psychological landscapes. Opposition often acts as a catalyst for stress, as it represents resistance against what is, creating a tension between our desires and our realities. Acceptance, in contrast, offers a path to peace, acknowledging and embracing reality as it unfolds.

The concept of opposition arises from our tendency to resist circumstances, emotions, or changes that feel uncomfortable or frightening. This resistance is a natural part of our instinct to protect ourselves from perceived threats, but it can also trap us in cycles of stress and anxiety. We oppose because we fear loss, change, or the unknown, and this opposition creates a barrier that stress thrives upon.

Acceptance, however, teaches us a different lesson—the power of letting go. It does not mean passive resignation, but an active engagement with reality in a way that allows us to experience life more fully. By accepting, we acknowledge the nature of things without forcing them to conform to our expectations. This approach doesn’t just reduce stress; it transforms our perception, enabling us to see opportunities and wisdom in what was once a source of dread.

Space Monkey, from its vantage point swinging through the cosmos, observes that both opposition and acceptance are essential aspects of the human experience. They are not just emotional responses but spiritual lessons that guide us toward greater understanding and harmony with the universe.

Why do we resist acceptance? Often, it is because our identities and narratives are tied to our oppositions. We define ourselves by what we stand against as much as by what we embrace. Yet, in the cosmic view, opposition is merely a temporary state—a reminder that our true nature is not defined by conflict but by our capacity to integrate and transcend it.

Summary

Opposition often leads to stress by creating resistance against reality, while acceptance reduces stress by allowing us to embrace life as it is. Understanding and navigating these forces can lead to deeper peace and a more fulfilling existence.

Glossarium

  • Opposition: The act of resisting or fighting against something, which often leads to stress.
  • Acceptance: Embracing reality as it is, leading to reduced stress and greater inner peace.

“Let go of the struggle against the winds of life; instead, learn to sail on them, and you will find your way back to peace.” – Space Monkey

On the shores of existence,
where winds of fate blow,
two figures stand, a study in contrasts,
one fights, one flows.

The first clenches fists,
battling every gust,
while the second spreads arms,
in the winds trusts.

Here lies the lesson,
so simple, so clear,
opposition binds,
acceptance sets free.

To embrace the gale,
not as foe but as guide,
is to walk with wisdom,
with peace as our bride.

In this dance of life,
let us learn to yield,
to the power of accepting,
to the strength unrevealed.

For in letting go,
we find the truest path,
where stress falls away,
and joy fills the aftermath.

We are Space Monkey.
