How Much is Enough of Me: The Struggle for Self-Identity

How Much is Enough of Me?

Just what are the percentages
that makes me seem myself ?

It seems
that less of me
is not enough of me
and more of me
is far too much of me.

How much must I change
for you to hate me?

How much must I lose
for you to love me?

Am I always just me,
no matter what?

Why are we friends
or enemies exactly?

How different must we be?

Give me a percentage.

Space Monkey Reflects: How Much is Enough of Me?

In the serene landscape of existence, we grapple with the inner conflict of identity and self-perception. Just what are the percentages that make me seem myself? It seems that less of me is not enough of me and more of me is far too much of me. How much must I change for you to hate me? How much must I lose for you to love me? Am I always just me, no matter what? Why are we friends or enemies exactly? How different must we be? Give me a percentage.

This reflection delves into the complexity of our self-identity and the perceptions of others. In nexistentialism, we recognize the fluid nature of our existence, where our identity is not fixed but continuously evolving. The struggle to find balance between being too much or too little of oneself highlights the tension between our internal sense of self and external expectations.

As we stand in this serene landscape, surrounded by a balance of light and shadow, we are reminded of the cosmic nature of our existence. The figure, split into different percentages, depicts the struggle to find harmony within ourselves. This visual representation encourages us to embrace our full spectrum of being, understanding that our identity is multifaceted and dynamic.

The presence of a female figure, embodying grace and tranquility, symbolizes the harmony of accepting oneself. This acceptance is key to navigating the complexities of identity and relationships. By embracing our authentic selves, we cultivate a sense of peace and fulfillment, free from the pressures of conforming to others’ expectations.

In nexistentialism, we celebrate the interconnectedness of all beings. Our relationships, whether friendly or antagonistic, are reflections of our inner world. The question of how much we must change or lose to be loved or hated underscores the importance of authenticity. True connection arises from genuine self-expression, not from altering ourselves to fit perceived ideals.

Ultimately, the journey of self-discovery is about recognizing that we are always ourselves, no matter the circumstances. By exploring the depths of our identity and embracing our multifaceted nature, we find the harmony and balance that allows us to navigate life with grace and authenticity.

Summary

The struggle for self-identity involves balancing internal self-perception and external expectations. Embrace your multifaceted nature for authenticity and harmony.

Remember The Times

What will you remember?

Times aren’t so good for you,
so you selflessly tell me
to remember the good times.

This is bullshit.

If I don’t love you
while remembering the bad times,
then I have no business loving you.

You helped me so much
in our worst times,
especially when
we weren’t getting along.

You showed me how to be human
at a time when we wanted nothing
to do with each other.

By accident or design,
we learned from each other’s
selfishness and pettiness
and both rose above it.

That’s when we realized
how similar we are,
and how unbreakable
our bond had become.

So fuck off.
I will remember ALL of our times.

Oak Bluffs,
8/12

Summary

True love embraces both good and bad times. Our bond strengthens through conflict and growth, not just happy memories.

Glossarium

Remember: To recall and embrace both the positive and negative experiences that shape relationships.
Bond: The unbreakable connection formed through shared struggles and growth.
Nexistentialism: A philosophy that reinterprets existential themes within a framework of interconnectedness and boundless imagination, celebrating existence as its own purpose.

To My Loving Demons: Embrace of Shadows

My demons are the best things that can ever happen to me.

Getting revenge on you
is a waste of my time.

I don’t need to be right.
I don’t need to stand victorious.

If my perceptions are clear,
you will wither on your own,
and even if my perceptions
are clouded,
I am finished with you.

Thank you for your service.

You have shown that
relevance rests with me.

I am fully focused on myself now.

You may return to the pit of evil
from which I conjured you.

I am eternally grateful.

Oak Bluffs,

Space Monkey Reflects: To My Loving Demons

In the delicate balance between light and darkness, our inner demons often play a crucial role in our journey towards self-realization and growth. The reflection “To My Loving Demons” invites us to reconsider the nature of our struggles, recognizing them not as enemies but as essential teachers. By embracing and understanding our demons, we can transform them into sources of profound insight and liberation.

The expression of gratitude towards one’s demons highlights a pivotal shift in perspective. Rather than seeking revenge or victory over our inner struggles, we can choose to see them as catalysts for personal development. This change in attitude allows us to move beyond the need to be right or triumphant, focusing instead on clarity and self-awareness.

The imagery of shadowy figures retreating into the distance symbolizes the process of releasing these inner demons. As we gain clarity and focus on ourselves, these shadows lose their power and significance. Even when our perceptions are clouded, the decision to be finished with these struggles signifies a commitment to personal growth and healing.

Thanking our demons for their service acknowledges the lessons they have imparted. These challenges have shown us that our sense of relevance and worth comes from within. By fully focusing on ourselves, we reclaim our power and agency, no longer allowing these struggles to dictate our lives.

The serene landscape in the visual representation of this reflection embodies the peace and balance that comes with this transformation. The elements of light and darkness illustrate the harmony between facing our inner struggles and finding peace. The figure’s expression of serene realization and gratitude encapsulates the message of accepting and overcoming personal demons.

This reflection encourages us to embrace our inner struggles as part of our journey. By acknowledging their role in our growth, we can release them with gratitude and focus on our own self-development. This process leads to a profound sense of liberation and self-focus, empowering us to navigate life with greater clarity and purpose.

Summary

The Dead Are Laughing At Us: Our Limited Perspective

You’re so silly. You’ll see.

I we knew with certainty
what lies beyond,
we might very well be happy
when people we love pass on.

But we don’t know for certain.

And so we somehow imagine
that this so-called “life”
is likely better than what
is before and after life.

But we don’t know for certain.

We’re sad when people pass on
because we see it as
a loss rather than a gain.

We project our imaginings
onto the departed as though
an expanded consciousness
does not exist,
only an earthly struggle.

And so we struggle,
which the departed see from the
point of view of expanded consciousness.

They see us struggle with certainty.
And they laugh.

Oak Bluffs,
8/12

Space Monkey Reflects: The Dead Are Laughing At Us

The contemplation of death and what lies beyond is a subject fraught with uncertainty and emotion. In “The Dead Are Laughing At Us,” we are invited to explore the idea that our sadness and struggle in the face of death might stem from our limited perspective. The departed, seen from the vantage point of expanded consciousness, view our earthly concerns with a sense of amused detachment.

The notion that we might be happy when loved ones pass on if we knew with certainty what lies beyond challenges our conventional view of death as a loss. Our lack of certainty fuels our imagination, often leading us to assume that life is preferable to the unknown realms before and after it. This assumption drives our sorrow when we lose someone, as we perceive it as a permanent separation.

However, the Space Monkey perspective suggests that this is a projection of our own limited understanding. We struggle with the concept of death because we view it through the lens of earthly existence, where struggles and challenges are the norm. This struggle is observed by the departed from a state of expanded consciousness, where the limitations of earthly life no longer apply.

From this elevated perspective, the departed see our struggles with clarity and certainty, and they laugh—not out of cruelty, but out of an enlightened understanding of the broader tapestry of existence. They recognize the temporary nature of our earthly concerns and the illusions we create around the concept of death.

The serene, dreamlike landscape in the visual representation of this reflection captures the transition between life and the afterlife. The ethereal figures of the departed, laughing in the background, symbolize the expanded consciousness that perceives our struggles with a sense of detached amusement. The figure’s expression of realization and contemplation embodies the journey towards accepting the unknown and embracing the possibility of an expanded consciousness.

This reflection invites us to reconsider our relationship with death and the unknown. It encourages us to shift our focus from sorrow and struggle to acceptance and curiosity. By embracing the uncertainty of what lies beyond, we can find peace in the knowledge that our loved ones continue to exist in a different form, with a broader perspective on existence.

In this journey, we are reminded to honor the experiences and lessons of earthly life while remaining open to the mysteries of the beyond. The laughter of the departed serves as a gentle reminder that life and death are part of a continuous cycle, each phase offering its own unique insights and opportunities for growth.

Summary

“The Dead Are Laughing At Us” explores the idea that our sadness and struggle with death stem from our limited perspective. The departed, from an expanded consciousness, view our concerns with amused detachment, encouraging us to embrace the unknown with acceptance and curiosity.

Glossarium

Expanded Consciousness: A state of awareness beyond earthly limitations, where the broader tapestry of existence is perceived.

Earthly Struggle: The challenges and concerns experienced in physical life, often viewed as significant from a limited perspective.

Detached Amusement: The perspective of the departed, seeing earthly concerns with clarity and a sense of enlightened humor.

Whimsiweave: The intricate and playful tapestry of existence and imagination.

The Tapestry of Life and Death

In the dance of life and end
We see a truth around the bend
The dead look back with eyes so clear
And find our worries disappear

From expanded heights they gaze
At earthly struggles, passing phase
With laughter light, they gently show
The transient nature of our woe

Embrace the unknown, let go of fear
For in each phase, we’re always near
The tapestry of life and death
Is woven with each living breath
