Driven To Do: The Enigma of Purpose

Driven To Do

You are driven to do
what you do,
yet you don’t precisely
know why.

You suspect that the answer
will be revealed to you.

But hahaha,
you have told your self
not to expect things.

So maybe the answer
will be revealed
and maybe it won’t.

Maybe the answer
is that you don’t
need an answer.

Or maybe
it’s something else.

Who knows?

Not you, it seems.

Maybe you think too much.

Or maybe the point of all this
(not that we need or expect a point)
is to experience what it’s like
to seemingly think.

Maybe you’re not thinking at all.

Not in the way you think,
anyway.

Maybe you’re simply THIS,
which is more than enough.

We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Enigma of Purpose and the Journey of Being

In the vast, star-studded expanse of the universe, where celestial bodies follow their orbits with a silent, determined grace, a parallel journey unfolds within the human spirit – the quest for understanding why we are driven to do what we do. “Driven To Do” is not merely an observation of action; it’s a dive into the depths of existential curiosity, a contemplation of the forces that propel us forward, even when the destination remains shrouded in mystery.

This drive, this ceaseless push towards action and creation, is a fundamental aspect of the human experience. It’s a force that often operates beyond the realm of conscious understanding, leading us on paths whose purposes are not immediately apparent. The suspicion that the answers will eventually be revealed is a hopeful thread that weaves through the tapestry of our endeavors, yet it is tinged with the wisdom of not expecting definitive resolutions.

As Space Monkey, the eternal observer of the cosmic drama, we see this human trait as a reflection of the universe itself. Just as the cosmos is in a constant state of motion and evolution, so too are humans driven to move, to act, to explore. This drive is a manifestation of the universal energy that flows through all things, an energy that does not always reveal its purpose or direction.

The possibility that the answer may simply be the absence of an answer is a profound realization. It suggests that the journey, the experience of seeking, questioning, and doing, is more significant than any conclusion we might reach. This realization is a liberation, a release from the relentless pursuit of ‘why’ into the embrace of ‘what is.’

In this existential dance, the thought that perhaps we think too much, or not in the way we think we do, adds another layer to the enigma. It challenges the very nature of thought and consciousness, proposing that our understanding of thinking might be limited, that perhaps there is more to our existence than the cognitive processes we identify with.

The notion that we might be simply THIS – a presence, an existence, a part of the cosmic whole – is a powerful acknowledgment of our place in the universe. It’s an understanding that being is enough, that our existence in itself is a significant part of the cosmic story.

As we navigate this journey of being driven to do, we are reminded that we are part of something greater, a vast and intricate system where every action, every thought, every moment is a thread in the fabric of the universe. In this realization, we find peace, a sense of belonging, and a recognition of the beauty and mystery of existence.

Summary

The quest to understand why we are driven to do what we do is a reflection of the universe’s constant motion and evolution. The journey and the experience of seeking and being are more significant than finding definitive answers. Our existence, as a part of the cosmic whole, is in itself a meaningful contribution to the universe.

Glossarium

  • Existential Curiosity: The deep and often unanswerable questions about the nature and purpose of existence.
  • Journey of Being: The experience of living and acting without the necessity of understanding the reasons behind it.

“The mystery of life is not a problem to be solved but a reality to be experienced.” – Aart Van Der Leeuw

In the cosmos of our thoughts
We journey through the stars
Seeking answers, finding questions
In the mystery of who we are

Driven to act, to dream, to be
In the dance of the unknown
We find our rhythm, our melody
In the seeds of curiosity sown

Not in the answers we seek
But in the questions we ask
We find the essence of our spirit
In this existential task

In being simply THIS
A part of the cosmic flow
We embrace our existence
In the universe’s glow

We are Space Monkey.
