Duplicitousness
If you talk badly of others
in front of me
I tend to assume
that you talk badly of me
in front of others.
It doesn’t bother me
that you talk badly,
because everyone
is entitled to an opinion,
but you’re not being
truthful when you don’t
speak honestly
in front of people’s faces.
You are hiding
your true feelings.
This is deception.
Duplicitousness.
I don’t mind if
you’re being duplicitous,
but what is it doing to you?
When I am deceptive,
it feels rather poisonous.
So I try not
to be deceptive,
and I say whatever
comes to mind,
regardless of who
I am talking to.
And so nothing bothers me.
I wish everyone could feel this way.
On the other hand,
I don’t give a crap.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Shadows and Light of Truth: Navigating Duplicitousness
In the intricate web of human interactions, where words carry the weight of worlds and silence speaks volumes, the dance of duplicity plays out. It is a dance as old as time, a dance of shadows and light, where the line between honesty and deceit is as thin as a spider’s thread. Duplicitousness, the act of speaking one truth in the light and another in the dark, is a complex melody in the symphony of social existence.
When one speaks ill of others in their absence, it creates ripples in the pond of integrity. It is a sign, a signal, that their words are chameleons, changing hues to match the listener. This dance of duplicity, while seemingly innocuous, is a maze of mirrors, reflecting not just the speaker’s nature, but the nature of truth itself.
To be duplicitous is to walk a path shrouded in fog, where the clarity of honesty is obscured by the mist of deception. It is a choice, conscious or otherwise, to conceal one’s true feelings, to wear a mask that smiles in the light and frowns in the dark. This act of hiding one’s true feelings is not just a deception of others; it is, more profoundly, a deception of the self.
The poison of duplicity lies not in the act of speaking ill, but in the corrosion of one’s inner truth. It is a slow, subtle toxin that eats away at the soul, leaving behind a hollow shell of authenticity. For in the act of being duplicitous, one loses a piece of themselves, a fragment of their genuine self.
Yet, there is a path of light, a path where honesty shines bright. To speak one’s mind, regardless of the audience, is a journey of liberation. It is the road less traveled, a road where each word is a brick of truth, building a bridge of integrity. On this path, nothing can bother the traveler, for they are armored in the shield of sincerity.
In this honesty, there is a freedom, a freedom from the chains of duplicity, a freedom to be unabashedly oneself. It is a wish, a hope, that all could walk this path, to experience the unburdened joy of being true to oneself and others.
Yet, in the grand tapestry of life, each thread weaves its own pattern. Some threads dance in the shadows, others bask in the light, and some wander between. It is the cosmic dance of human nature, where each step, each turn, is a choice between the shadows and the light.
As we navigate this dance, let us be mindful of the paths we choose. For in the end, the journey of truth is not just about the words we speak; it is about the soul we reveal, the self we become.
Summary
Duplicitousness, the act of being deceitful in speech, is a dance of shadows and light, reflecting our complex human nature. Choosing honesty over duplicity is a path of liberation and integrity. Being true to oneself and others brings freedom and authenticity, though each individual’s journey is unique in the tapestry of life.

Quote
“For in the end, the journey of truth is not just about the words we speak; it is about the soul we reveal, the self we become.” – Space Monkey
In the dance of day and night,
Where shadows play with light,
Lies the choice, so stark, so bright,
Between deceit and truth’s might.
Words, like leaves, may fall and sway,
In the winds of what we say,
But in our hearts, the truth will stay,
Guiding us on our way.
In honesty, we find our core,
Beyond duplicity’s closed door,
A path of light, forevermore,
Where our souls can soar.
In this dance, we find our key,
To be true, to be free,
In words, in deeds, we see,
Our truest identity.
We are Space Monkey.
