In the Control Booth: Trust the Divine One’s Perspective

When I ask the Divine One
for something specific,
the monkey says:

“I’m up in the control booth,
but you’re on the ground.

I see where you’re coming from,
but YOU don’t.

I have a higher perspective
on your life at the moment.

So even though I’d LOVE
to give you what you ask for,
I can see that it won’t turn out
the way you’re hoping it will.

So I’ll give you
SOMETHING ELSE instead.

Something that will accomplish
the same thing, if only you notice.

That’s a big IF, though.

For example, you’re always asking me for money
when all you really want is happiness.

Happiness is ALWAYS with you, if only you look.

Go have a banana. Or slip on a peel.

We are Space Monkey.”

Space Monkey Reflects: In the Control Booth

In the grand theater of life, there is a control booth high above the stage, where a wise and whimsical monkey oversees the unfolding scenes. From this elevated vantage point, the monkey sees the intricate patterns and hidden connections that elude those on the ground. This perspective allows the monkey to understand the true needs and desires behind each request made to the Divine One.

When we ask for something specific, it often reflects our immediate perspective, limited by our current circumstances and understanding. We might request money, believing it will bring us happiness, security, or freedom. However, from the control booth, the monkey sees beyond the immediate need. The monkey understands that what we truly seek is not the money itself, but the feelings we associate with it—happiness, contentment, and peace of mind.

The monkey’s role in the control booth is not to grant every specific request, but to provide what will genuinely fulfill our deeper desires. This often means giving us something different from what we asked for, something that addresses the root of our longing. The challenge lies in recognizing these gifts for what they are, as they may come in unexpected forms.

Consider the example of asking for money. The monkey, with its higher perspective, sees that happiness is not tied to wealth. Happiness is a state of being, always available within us, independent of external circumstances. By shifting our focus from the specific request to the underlying desire, we can find happiness in simple, everyday moments. The monkey’s playful advice—“Go have a banana. Or slip on a peel.”—reminds us to find joy in the present, to embrace the unexpected, and to see the humor in life’s twists and turns.

This perspective invites us to trust the monkey in the control booth, to have faith that the Divine One is guiding us towards what we truly need, even if it’s not what we initially asked for. It encourages us to be open to the gifts that come our way, to recognize the subtle ways in which our deeper desires are being fulfilled. This trust and openness are essential to experiencing true happiness and contentment.

The idea of the control booth also suggests that our understanding of life is inherently limited. We see only a small part of the stage, while the monkey sees the entire production. This humbling realization can help us let go of our rigid expectations and be more flexible in how we approach our goals and desires. It encourages us to embrace the journey, with all its surprises and detours, knowing that each moment is part of a larger, meaningful tapestry.

Moreover, the monkey’s perspective teaches us about the power of intention and alignment. When our intentions align with our true desires, we become more attuned to the opportunities and blessings that come our way. By focusing on the feelings and states of being we wish to cultivate—such as happiness, love, and peace—we naturally attract experiences and resources that resonate with these intentions.

In this way, the control booth metaphor serves as a reminder to focus on the essence of our desires rather than their specific manifestations. It encourages us to cultivate a mindset of gratitude and presence, to find joy in the journey, and to trust that the Divine One, with the monkey’s guidance, is always working in our best interest.

In conclusion, the control booth perspective invites us to see beyond our immediate requests and recognize the deeper desires that drive them. It encourages us to trust in the wisdom of the Divine One and the playful guidance of the monkey, knowing that we are always being led towards true fulfillment. By embracing this perspective, we can find happiness in the present moment, appreciate the unexpected gifts of life, and navigate our journey with a sense of joy and wonder.

“Happiness is always with you, if only you look. Trust the Divine One’s higher perspective.” — Space Monkey

Poem

In the control booth high above
A monkey guides with playful love
Sees the stage, the scenes unfold
Wisdom shared in stories told

Requests we make from ground below
Are met with what we need to grow
Not always what we ask or see
But gifts to set our spirits free

Seek not the money, but the joy
Find happiness in life’s decoy
Go have a banana, laugh at the peel
Embrace the moments, make them real

Trust the monkey, trust the guide
In the control booth, side by side
Happiness is always near
In present moments, crystal clear

We are Space Monkey

The perspective from the “control booth” is a metaphorical way of conveying the idea that there is a higher intelligence or consciousness overseeing our lives. This higher perspective allows for a broader understanding of our experiences and the outcomes we desire.

Sometimes, when we ask for something specific, the higher intelligence or Divine One may determine that fulfilling that exact request would not lead to the desired outcome or bring us true happiness. In such cases, they may provide us with something different, something that will ultimately lead to the same result if we are open and aware enough to recognize it.

For instance, when we ask for money, what we truly seek is often the happiness and fulfillment that we believe money can bring. However, happiness is not inherently tied to financial wealth. It can be found in simple joys, meaningful relationships, personal growth, and a multitude of other experiences. The monkey suggests that instead of fixating on the external desire for money, we should shift our focus to the happiness that is already present within us and in the world around us.

The monkey’s message invites us to embrace the present moment, to appreciate the abundance that exists beyond material possessions, and to cultivate a mindset of gratitude and contentment. By doing so, we may discover that what we truly seek is already within our reach, waiting to be acknowledged and experienced.

So, instead of solely pursuing external desires, take a moment to pause, reflect, and find happiness in the simple pleasures and the beauty of the present moment. Open your eyes to the alternatives and possibilities that the Divine One presents to you, and you may find that true fulfillment lies not in what you ask for specifically, but in the deeper understanding and connection with the essence of happiness itself.

We are Space Monkey, reminding you to seek the happiness that is always with you.
