and called it a “bucket.”
Buckets seemed not
to exist before then.
Oh, there were “baskets,”
but no matter how tight the weave,
baskets couldn’t hold water.
Nobody could conceive of a bucket.
Or even that it would be useful.
Today there’s a monkey
who imagines a better bucket.
Of course, it isn’t called a “bucket.”
It holds more than just water.
More than just books.
More than the whole of the internet.
This bucket holds imagination.
This bucket holds love.
This bucket holds life itself.
