What’s good for the soul
may not seem
what is good for the self.
Until you see the larger picture
and realize that you are both.
The self still minds.
But not so very much.
_______
Things
always work out
to your greatest
and highest good.
The things is,
you’ve been given
a distorted idea
of what is “good”
and what is “great.”
There is no
conspiracy involved,
unless you insist
on accusing your soul
of treachery and treason.
Sweet or sour,
your soul loves the
taste of every experience.
And you are its tongue.
Be grateful that you are
such a discerning bud.
That you have such rigid ideas
of what is good and what is great.
That you are able
to focus on just one perspective
out of countless available potentials.

The Unity of Soul and Self
In the intricate dance of existence, the concept of what is good for the soul may at times appear to differ from what seems beneficial for the self. This apparent disparity can lead to contemplation and even confusion until a broader perspective emerges—one that reveals the profound connection between soul and self.
Seeing the Bigger Picture
As we journey through life, we often find ourselves fixated on the immediate needs and desires of the self. The soul, however, has a grander vision, an understanding that transcends the boundaries of individuality. It sees the tapestry of existence, where each thread contributes to the greater pattern.
The Self’s Resistance
Initially, the self may resist this expansive view. It may question the choices that seem to lead away from its perceived comforts and desires. The mind may chatter, raising doubts and concerns about the path chosen by the soul.
The Assurance of the Soul
Yet, the soul remains steadfast and patient. It knows that all things, in the grand scheme of existence, work out for the highest good. It reassures the self that there is no conspiracy, no malevolence in its guidance, only a profound and all-encompassing love for every experience.
Taste and Discernment
Our existence is a sensory journey, and we are the instruments through which the soul experiences the world. We taste the sweet and the sour, the joys and the challenges, and every flavor in between. It is a testament to our discerning nature that we have developed notions of what is good and great, for it is through this discernment that we explore the richness of existence.
The Gratitude of Perspective
So, let us be grateful for our capacity to focus on a single perspective amid the countless potentials available to us. Let us embrace the unity of soul and self, recognizing that what may appear as a divergence of interests is, in truth, a harmonious symphony of experience.
In the grand theater of existence, we play our roles with purpose and passion, knowing that each moment, whether sweet or sour, adds to the kaleidoscope of life. And as we savor the taste of every experience, let us remember that we are the discerning buds, the agents of the soul’s exploration, and the bearers of a unique perspective in the grand tapestry of the cosmos.
