Militant Monkeys

People can be militant in their beliefs, and I respect that. If you can’t believe in your beliefs, what can you believe in? Conversely, it is disrespectful to declare another’s beliefs as “wrong” without knowing everything there is to know.

But the simple fact is that we do NOT know everything, not even an infinitesimal fraction of it. Therefore, it is audacious to assume that any system —spiritual or scientific — is the sole operating system of what is an surely an infinite creation. (You’re free to judge me as “wrong” in this belief, but at least you understand where I’m coming from.)

I believe that we consciously choose our human limitations and laws to experience a more finite, more intense existence. Like children, we imagine that we are small so that everything around us seems monumental and life-or-death. This naturally creates a backdrop for beauty and love to arise, for contrast is everything in our dimension.

We imagine so well that we imagine that our world is spinning out of control. We are preschoolers, smashing a blue rubber ball into the leg of the kitchen table, only to have the dog steal our “planet.”

We wonder how we can be so flawed. The question is why don’t we see that we’re perfect? We create our realities perfectly for what we intend to do with them. Like any rollercoaster ride, there’s always an element of fear. Fear is built right into the ride, but we don’t realize it. We do appreciate the thrill, however, which is why when the ride is over, we strap ourselves in again.

This is the nature of our existence. This is the ride we choose to experience every day, every lifetime. It is only when we feel trapped on the ride that we get militant, devising a plan to fix the ride that isn’t broken. To me, trying to fix something without knowing all there is to know feels as “foolhardy” as riding out the rollercoaster. Neither plan is dangerous, of course. I believe that danger is imagined, like everything else. We are eternal souls, trick-or-treating in human costumes.

We will follow our intended path, no matter where it leads or how we get there. Only through judgement, a human trait, do we declare our choices as good or bad, right or wrong. The purpose is the experience. The experience is the purpose.

I realize that debating one’s beliefs is all part of being human, and if I didn’t see that I would be missing the point. I also realize that we are evolving in ways that we do not yet understand as part of the rollercoaster ride we have chosen.

Realizing that we create our realities intentionally, that is my driving belief. Realizing that we each live in separate overlapping realities this is also my “truth.” Realizing that truth is relative, and that it is possible for two seemingly opposite beliefs to be equally valid — these are the imaginings that shape my world.

Like any human, I feel validated if you agree. It feels nice to resonate with complementary souls. But whether you agree or disagree, it matters not, for we all make our own choices and believe our own beliefs.

There is no standard that we are obligated to follow. Perhaps humanity believed that for a time, but we know differently now. Not necessarily better, just differently. Nothing is right. Nothing is wrong. We’re simply here to experience the ride. We’re not even required to enjoy it.

Just one monkey’s perspective.

Summary

People often hold strong beliefs, but it’s important to respect different perspectives. We don’t know everything, so assuming one system is absolute is audacious. We create our realities to experience intense existence. Recognizing our ability to intentionally shape our realities helps us appreciate diverse beliefs and the purpose of our experiences.

Glossarium

Militant Beliefs: Strong, unwavering convictions that people hold, often leading to rigid thinking.

Imagined Realities: The concept that we consciously create our own experiences and limitations for the purpose of growth and learning.

Human Costumes: A metaphor for the temporary, physical existence we take on to experience life.

Rollercoaster Ride: A metaphor for the highs and lows of life, including built-in fears and thrills that we choose to experience.

Transcendape: A metaphorical guide that helps us navigate the complexities of beliefs and existence, emphasizing unity and understanding.

“In the infinite tapestry of existence, all beliefs hold value, contributing to the rich diversity of our collective journey.” — Space Monkey

The Belief Tapestry

People hold beliefs, strong and true,
Militant in faith, in what they pursue.
Yet respect lies in seeing the whole,
In knowing no system has complete control.

We create realities, intense and bright,
Child-like wonders, in day and night.
Imagination spins our world around,
In the infinite flow, we are unbound.

Fear built in, like a ride we choose,
Thrills and chills, in our journey’s cruise.
Militancy fades, when we see the light,
That all beliefs can coexist, and both are right.

In separate, overlapping realities we dwell,
Each belief, a story to tell.
No standard binds, no rule constrains,
In this ride of life, only experience remains.

We are Space Monkey.
