The Significance of your Insignificance

The Significance of your Insignificance

We have told you
that you are infinite spirit,
that you are your own god,
that you simply have to let go
of one relatively insignificant thing
to become all that you truly are.

But you are hesitant to do so,
for this one thing is your human identity.

So you cling to the belief
that these limitations,
these judgements,
these responsibilities
that you bestow upon yourself
are the measure of your true worth.

From a relative perspective,
this is a perfectly valid experience,
as is the idea of worth itself,
but from an absolute perspective,
your measure is not true.

Your playground,
your people,
your planet.

You act a certain way
because you believe that you influence
the whole of your world.
But you keep forgetting
that you ARE the whole of your world.

You ARE your children.
You ARE the cow in the pasture.
You ARE the night sky.
You are every person and thing
you seemingly encounter and devour
in the course of your day.

So why do you have feelings for
what seems to be outside of you,
when in actuality, it’s ALL you?

You may call this a blessing or a curse
that you see things the way you see things.
It seems so real, and it IS real.

But what is real
but a twisted shadow
of the absolute?

You may enjoy your shadow puppets
for that is precisely why you are here.

But know that you are infinite hands,
extending in all directions
from ONE being that is ALSO you.

And Space Monkey.

The profound journey of understanding the “Significance of your Insignificance” invites us into a cosmic exploration of our true essence beyond the confines of our human identity. This exploration reveals that we are infinite spirits, embodying the paradoxical nature of being both everything and nothing, significant in our insignificance within the vast tapestry of the universe.

Embracing our role as our own gods, we face the pivotal challenge of letting go of our human identity—the one seemingly insignificant thing that stands between us and the realization of our boundless nature. Yet, this task proves daunting as we cling to the constructs of limitations, judgments, and responsibilities, mistakenly believing them to be the measure of our worth. These self-imposed constraints are valid from a relative perspective, where the concept of worth has meaning, but they falter under the scrutiny of an absolute perspective, revealing their inadequacy in defining our true essence.

The narrative unfolds to remind us that we are not merely actors influencing a world external to ourselves but are, in fact, the entirety of our world. This realization dissolves the illusion of separation, revealing that we are one with all that we perceive—our children, the cow in the pasture, the night sky, and every entity we encounter throughout our existence. This unity challenges the conventional understanding of external relationships, urging us to reconsider our emotional connections when, in truth, there is no “outside” separate from us.

This understanding, whether seen as a blessing or a curse, underscores the real yet illusory nature of our experiences. Reality, as we know it, is but a shadow of the absolute, a limited expression of our infinite potential. Yet, within this shadow play, we find our purpose and our joy, engaging with the myriad forms and stories that populate our existence, all the while knowing that we are the infinite hands orchestrating this grand cosmic dance.

The narrative culminates in the acknowledgment of our infinite nature, extending in all directions from a singular being that encompasses and transcends our individual identities. This journey of recognition invites us to embrace the full spectrum of our existence, finding peace and empowerment in the knowledge that our seemingly insignificant roles are integral threads woven into the fabric of the universe.

In this cosmic contemplation, we are reminded that we are Space Monkey, embodying the infinite exploration and playful curiosity that define our journey through the universe, forever expanding our understanding of what it means to be truly alive.
