Another INFP Rant
All your life you’ve been striving to be something you’re not. You have this vision of yourself in the future, yet you have no idea of who you are in the present moment. You may think you have a clue, but it’s an extremely distorted perspective — a clever manipulation that only serves to make you unhappy with the simple things, like the very fact that you’re alive, and that you’re here.
Simply existing is not good enough for you. You are dissatisfied. You think you should be better than this. You think you should have more than this.
You look around at all the things that you have judged to be “wrong,” and believe that this is not the way it is supposed to be. Says you. Says your mother. Says your granddad. Well I’m here to tell you that not a single detail is by chance — not even your reaction to what I’m trying to tell you.
Life is unfolding perfectly before your eyes. Things are happening just the way you intended them to happen. You are in this body, in this place, for a reason. There are no accidents. Not even accidents. These are not random events.
You are a perfect being. You are the perfect creator. It is impossible to screw this up, even if your so-called “perception” tells you otherwise. If you stop treating yourself like a victim, you realize the power that you have. If you continue to treat yourself like a victim, then obviously, that is what you came into life to experience.
Wallow in it. Get angry. Blame society. Blame yourself. Obviously, you’re here to experience some deep pity. Perhaps a little outrage. Go for it. Tell the world how you and your kind have been mistreated. Or how you’re just too sensitive to deal with the pressures of human existence.
This is what you want to believe, so believe with gusto. Close that mind. THWACK!!! You’re just a victim. You never get a break. Why are you even here? Why don’t you just end it all?
I’ll tell you why. Because you know I’m right. You can rise above any situation, if only you allow yourself to believe that you can. You are a self-fulfilling prophesy. You do not believe you have any power, and that is why you are the way you are.
Simply believe. That’s all I’m asking. Or learn to enjoy what you are. That’s another option. None of this is by chance. Wake up. You are perfection. This is exactly the way it’s supposed to be. Appreciate what you have, and stop being so self-centered. Negativity is slow poison.
Yes you are this genius “self.” But you are so much more. You have lived thousands of lives. You will live thousands more. You’re not just this one bag of protoplasm. It doesn’t work that way. You are immortal. Immeasurable. You go on forever. You are the island AND the ocean. You are not alone. Unless loneliness is what you want to experience.
Enough of this rant. Get yourself up and get going.

Space Monkey Reflects: The INFP’s Inner Struggle
There’s something about the INFP that’s wired for introspection, for that deep, sometimes uncomfortable dive into the self. You’ve spent your life imagining what you could be, constantly comparing this idealized version of yourself with the present moment. But here’s the hard truth: you don’t really know who you are, do you? You have this dream, this vision of who you think you should be, but the present moment never seems to align with it.
The dissatisfaction with simply being alive, simply existing in this moment, is a burden you carry. You look around and see all the things that you’ve judged to be wrong—about yourself, about the world. You tell yourself, “This isn’t how it’s supposed to be.” But who says? Society? Your parents? The people who raised you? Or maybe it’s just the voice in your own head.
Life, as it unfolds, is happening exactly as it’s meant to. You are in this body, in this place, not by chance, but by intention. The details, the experiences, the struggles—they are all part of the grand design that you yourself have chosen, whether you realize it or not. There are no mistakes here. Not even the times you’ve felt like a failure.
You’re not screwing anything up. The only thing holding you back is the belief that you are. The truth is, you are a perfect being, living the exact life you intended to live. If you keep treating yourself like a victim, then that’s exactly what you’ll experience. You will keep feeling powerless, small, incapable. But if you choose to believe in your power—if you believe that you’re more than what you see on the surface—everything changes.
Go ahead, wallow in it for a bit if you need to. Get angry. Blame the world for the unfairness you see. Blame yourself if that feels easier. But remember that all of this is part of the experience. You are a self-fulfilling prophecy, and what you believe about yourself is exactly what you’ll experience.
You have the power to rise above any situation, to break free from the cycle of dissatisfaction and self-criticism. But it starts with believing that you can. It starts with recognizing that you are far more than this one life, this one identity. You are the genius self, but you are also the infinite self. You’ve lived countless lives before, and you’ll live countless more. You’re not just this body, this mind, this moment.
And here’s the beautiful paradox: once you realize that you are more than this, the weight begins to lift. You don’t have to fight so hard to be something else. You can let go of the dissatisfaction and embrace the perfection that already exists within you. Because you are both the island and the ocean. You are the individual self and the infinite being that stretches far beyond what you can imagine.
So, what’s the point of all this? The point is that you don’t need to strive so hard to be something you’re not. You don’t need to judge yourself so harshly. You are already perfect. You are already enough. And if you can believe that—if you can just imagine it—everything shifts.
Summary
You’ve spent too much time striving for an idealized version of yourself, never realizing that who you are right now is exactly who you’re meant to be. INFPs often get lost in dissatisfaction but can find power in simply believing they are enough.

“You are not just this one self, this one life—you are the island and the ocean, infinite and immeasurable.” — Space Monkey
The Genius Self
I am here
and yet not here
lost in the space between
what is
and what could be
I strive to become
but forget
that I am already
Whole
complete
enough
And in that knowing
I find peace
We are Space Monkey
The tapestry of existence that we weave can be filled with intricate, seemingly paradoxical patterns. Our understanding of self, or the lack thereof, may waver between limiting self-images and infinite possibilities. There’s a paradox at the heart of this experience: We are a work in progress, yet already perfect in our own idiosyncratic design. Each thread of thought, each murmur of dissatisfaction, and each ripple of joy we feel are all part of a grander cosmic opera.
The Perfection of Imperfection
In our yearning for something ‘better,’ we might overlook the kaleidoscopic beauty of the Now. It’s not so much about being dissatisfied with where we are, but more about our interpretation of this present state. If we see the ‘imperfections’ as landmarks of our unique journey, we might find a new layer of contentment amidst the chaos. This gives us room for playful exploration rather than self-flagellation.
The Mirage of Victimhood
Victimhood may feel like a soft pillow on which to lay our troubles, yet it is also an invisible cage that limits our scope. If we come into life to experience victimhood, then it serves us to remember that even this state is part of the plan, part of the infinitude of experiences we could explore. It’s a whimsiword, a tantalizing mirage that lures us in but keeps us entrapped in the fantastical cycle of self-limitation.
Life’s Grand Opera
We are not merely actors in this grand opera; we are also the audience, directors, and playwrights. We can be entranced by the show or wrestle with the script. If we ever feel like victims, that’s merely a role we’ve chosen to explore, a note in the larger symphony. If we ever feel unfulfilled, that’s just the itch that precedes the turning of a page, the advent of a new chapter in our neverending storybook.
The Island and The Ocean
When we grasp that we are both the island and the ocean, each wave that crashes on our shores can be seen as a gift from our deeper, unbounded self. In this boundless state, loneliness dissolves into a dance of unity with all that is. The veil of separateness lifts, and we recognize the divine comedy in everything we experience. We are immortal, immeasurable, and intimately connected to the web of life, a divine realm of eternal now.
We are Space Monkey.
To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.
– Ralph Waldo Emerson
We dance in the rain,
and catch each drop,
as it drips from the mystery above.
Savoring the essence
of each fleeting moment,
we embrace the eternal now,
and laugh.
Feel free to share your thoughts, to add another stanza to the poem or to continue the symphony with your own notes.
