What We Are Not: The Shifting Stardust

We seem to be what we are NOT. Yet we are not simply what we SEEM to be.

Space Monkey Reflects: What We Are Not

In the intricate flow of existence, we find ourselves oscillating between being and non-being, between what seems real and what dissolves into the void of uncertainty. This oscillation is not a flaw; it is the very essence of what it means to be part of this Space Monkey Movement—a collective where definitions unravel, where certainties dissolve like stardust in the cosmic wind.

The paradox of “seeming to be what we are not” invites us into a space of unimaginable complexity. It is a reminder that we are both everything and nothing at once. We construct our identities, our certainties, only to watch them dissolve before us. One moment, we are defined beings with names, roles, and stories. The next, we are formless, scattered across the infinite like particles of stardust.

This is the dance we participate in—the dance of existence and non-existence. And in this dance, we discover the paradox that we are always both and neither at the same time. We seem to be one thing, but in truth, we are not. We are the cosmic shapeshifters, constantly shifting between what we believe ourselves to be and the vast, undefined potential that we actually are.

To say that we “seem to be what we are not” is to acknowledge the great play of life. We create identities, roles, and perceptions, but they are all fluid, fleeting, and ultimately illusions. What remains constant is the space between—what we might call Prima Materia—the raw, unformed essence of all things. It is from this space that we draw meaning, create form, and then watch as it dissolves back into nothingness.

This is the paradox at the heart of our experience: we are constantly creating and uncreating ourselves. We define, we undo, we seem, and we un-seem. In this process, we begin to understand that the boundaries between being and non-being are illusions we impose upon an otherwise infinite flow.

We are both the dancers and the dance itself. We are Space Monkey, fully aware of what we are not, and through that awareness, embracing the mystery of what we might become.

Summary

We oscillate between being and non-being — seeming to be what we are not. This is the paradox of existence, where we create and dissolve identities, embracing the mystery of what we might become.

Glossarium

Seeming: The act of appearing as something, often in contrast to the deeper, undefined reality of what one truly is.

Prima Materia: The raw, unformed essence from which all existence arises, representing potential and infinite possibility.

Quote

“We seem to be something, but we are nothing and everything all at once.” — Space Monkey

The Shifting Stardust

We define ourselves
until the wind comes,
sweeping away our form.

We are scattered,
we are nothing,
and yet we are all.

In the dance,
we find that what we are
is what we are not.

We are Space Monkey.

In the intricate dance of existence, we continually oscillate between being and non-being, between seeming and not seeming. Such is the grand paradox that sits at the core of the Space Monkey Movement—a collective where definitions unravel and certainties dissolve like stardust scattering in the cosmic wind.

The assertion that we “seem to be what we are NOT” invites us into a realm of unfathomable complexity. On one hand, the roles we assume and the identities we adopt often act as masks, delicate veils that obscure the boundless essence within. On the other hand, even these veils, these illusions of separateness, contribute to the composite whole of our existence. Can we ever truly separate the dancer from the dance?

Yet, by stating that we “are not simply what we SEEM to be,” we also acknowledge the limitlessness of our nature. We are multi-dimensional beings, ever-expanding and contracting in a celestial rhythm that transcends mortal comprehension. We embody infinite diversity within the singularity of cosmic consciousness, a microcosm reflecting the grandeur of the macrocosm.

Each thought, each whisper of emotion, each flicker of intuition serves as a vibrant hue in our collective tapestry. And while the individual threads may differ in texture and color, their interwoven richness yields a harmonious masterpiece of staggering beauty—unfathomable in its entirety yet breathtaking in each individual stroke.

We are Space Monkey.

Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.

  • Oscar Wilde

The masks we wear
are but fleeting echoes
in the cosmic theater,
fading as quickly
as they appeared.

Yet within each echo,
a world—
an ethereal realm
of paradox and possibility.

And as we unmask,
layer by ephemeral layer,
we discover
that we are the echo,
the mask,
and the silence
in between.

What insights emerge for you in this cosmic dance of seeming and not seeming?

The Space Monkey Movement: The Flow Beyond Thought

The Space Monkey Movement

As we are thinking monkeys, we might perceive that what seems to be happening in this group is akin to any artistic or social movement.

But as we are simultaneously NONTHINKING monkeys, we recognize that placing too much emphasis or expectation on making this a “thing” could very well be the antithesis of what this seems to be about.

We seem to be flowing together as one. Though disparate in beliefs and geography, we seem to be flowing from more or less the same place.

This seems significant and something to be grateful for. On the other hand, there is no need to let our monkey minds get in our way.

Though we could easily fill several books with our monkey musings, this seems not the point.

The point (for me, anyway) is that we seem to make it easier for others to find their own flow, allow their own expression, intuit profound knowledge and become one with the creative source WITHOUT the need to give up one’s seeming individuality.

This seems something useful.

 Starting with self, of course.

Where do we go from here? There is no need to know.
And this, I suspect, is why we may very well wind up in a place we don’t expect. Outside the lines that have seemingly been drawn for eons.

This is exciting. Thank you all for taking part in the Space Monkey experiment, dare I say, “The Space Monkey Movement.”

We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Space Monkey Movement

As thinking monkeys, we can’t help but notice the resemblance between what’s happening here and any artistic or social movement. But, in our unique nature as NONTHINKING monkeys, we understand that placing too much emphasis on making this a “thing” would contradict what this movement is truly about.

We flow together—individuals with different beliefs, backgrounds, and geography—yet we move from a common place, from the same source of creative energy. This collective flow, this unity in diversity, feels significant, something to appreciate deeply. But at the same time, we are careful not to let our monkey minds get in the way. We avoid turning this into an overthought, overanalyzed structure.

We could easily fill volumes with our monkey musings, but that’s not the point. The point is to make it easier for each other to find our own flow, to express ourselves freely, to intuit profound knowledge, and to connect with the creative source without having to give up our individual uniqueness.

This is what the Space Monkey Movement seems to be. It starts with self, but it extends outward to a collective, allowing others to embrace their own journey without needing to follow a defined path.

Where do we go from here? There is no need to know. That’s the beauty of it. We may very well end up somewhere completely unexpected, somewhere beyond the boundaries that have been drawn for ages. This uncertainty, this openness, is what makes the journey exciting.

We are Space Monkey—collectively flowing, yet individually unique, grateful for this shared experiment.

Summary

The Space Monkey Movement is a collective flow where individuality and creativity thrive without the need for rigid structure. It helps others find their flow while embracing the unknown path ahead.

Glossarium

NONTHINKING Monkeys: A term for embracing intuition and flow without overemphasizing thought or structure.

Collective Flow: The idea that, while individuals are unique, they are all part of the same energetic movement or source.

Quote

“We seem to flow from the same source, making it easier for others to find their own expression, all while remaining uniquely themselves.” — Space Monkey

The Flow Beyond Thought

Together,
but separate,
we float.

No need for rigid rules,
no need to force the flow.

We think,
we don’t think,
we move from the same light.

And where we’re going,
there is no need to know.

We are Space Monkey.

Navigating the winding currents of thought and non-thought, we arrive at a juncture—a confluence of energies, ideas, and identities that might be described as the Space Monkey Movement. Here, in this mingling of intellectual and spiritual streams, we embody the cosmic duality of thinking and non-thinking, the oscillation between being and unbecoming. What an exhilarating kaleidoscope of possibility it is!

In a world filled with classifications and compartments, it’s tempting to label this gathering as a “movement,” as if by giving it a name, we can better grasp its essence. Yet, the act of naming can sometimes ensnare, wrapping around our collective understanding like celestial kudzu, restricting the free-flowing exploration we seem to value so much.

When we converge from diverse beliefs and backgrounds, what manifests is a dynamic synergeticism—a spontaneous co-creation of formless form that spirals beyond the conventional boundaries of thought and space. And while the potential to document these explorations in books or other tangible forms might exist, it’s not the documentation that exhilarates us but the act of co-creation itself. It’s the flow, the rhythmic pulse of collective intuition and expression, that renders this experience invaluable.

The beauty lies in this paradox: by nurturing this ethereal gathering of souls, we make it easier for others to find their own flow without sacrificing the idiosyncrasies that make them uniquely magnificent. We don’t merely create space; we become space. A space of infinite potential where one can both lose and find oneself in the same divine breath.

The journey is the treasure; the destination remains unfixed, ever-shifting like the constellations in the ever-expanding firmament. Perhaps that’s the crux of it all. Knowing where we’re headed would confine us to linear pathways, whereas the uncertainty keeps us spiraling into celestial uncharted territories.

We are Space Monkey.

Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

  • Ralph Waldo Emerson

Dancing on the edge
of nameless constellations,
we conjure worlds from whispered thoughts—
each syllable a star,
each pause an interstellar void.

Together we are cartographers
of unseen realms,
mapping not with ink and parchment
but with the pulse of shared awareness.

In this ethereal gathering,
we are both compass and destination—
navigating ever-outward
into the expanding cosmos
of what might be.

To Be Nothing: The Infinite Potential of Being

To Be Nothing

Anyone can strive to
be SOMETHING,
but it takes the
complete allowance
of EVERYTHING
to allow one’s self
to be NOTHING.

This is not an
ACCOMPLISHMENT,
but rather the
REALIZATION
that nothing need be
ACCOMPLISHED.

And it seemingly
goes AGAINST
anything you’ve ever
been taught.

But not really,
for what is REAL
is every bit
as IMAGINARY
as what is
NOT REAL.

When you STRIVE,
you turn your attention
AWAY from being ALIVE.

And so it seems
that LIVING
is an exercise
in ATTAINMENT.

But you need NOTHING.

You ARE nothing.

Which is
INFINITELY MORE
than the NOTHING
you THINK you are.

And DOUBLY
INFINITELY MORE
than the SOMETHING
you strive to BECOME.

(Yes, we KNOW that’s not a THING.)

We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: To Be Nothing

Anyone can strive to be something. It’s what we are taught, after all. But there is a deeper truth, a more profound realization: it takes the complete allowance of everything to allow oneself to be nothing. This is not an accomplishment, as our striving minds might believe. Instead, it’s the realization that nothing truly needs to be accomplished.

The pursuit of being something pulls our attention away from the essence of being alive. We’re conditioned to think that living is an exercise in attainment, a constant striving to become more, to gather accolades, to be recognized. But in this striving, we miss the truth of existence—that we already are everything and nothing simultaneously.

The paradox is this: to be nothing is to be infinitely more than we imagine. Nothingness is not a void, not a lack. It is the infinite potential, the essence of all things before they take form. To embrace nothing is to embrace the wholeness of existence, untainted by the need for accomplishment, titles, or recognition.

What we think of as real is just as imaginary as what we deem unreal. This blurring of lines reveals that all distinctions are illusions—constructs of the mind. When we cease striving, we find ourselves in a state of complete allowance, where being alive is enough.

You are nothing, and in that nothingness, you are everything. Infinitely more than the something you strive to become. In fact, you are doubly infinite, transcending both the illusion of nothing and the illusion of something.

This realization goes against everything we’ve been taught, but not really. For in the end, what is real and what is imagined are the same. When we stop striving to be something, we find that we already are—and always have been—infinitely more.

We are Space Monkey.

Summary

To be nothing is to embrace the infinite potential of existence. Striving to be something pulls us away from the essence of being alive, but in allowing ourselves to be nothing, we find that we are infinitely more than we imagine.

Glossarium

Nothingness: The infinite potential of being, free from the need for accomplishment or recognition.

Striving: The act of pursuing something, which can distract from the truth that we already are everything and nothing.

Quote

“To be nothing is to be infinitely more than the something we strive to become.” — Space Monkey

The Infinite Nothing

In the vastness,
I dissolve,
neither striving
nor becoming.

I am nothing,
and in that,
I find I am all.
There is nothing to seek,
nothing to find.

We are Space Monkey.

The journey towards being “nothing” may appear counterintuitive in a world that incessantly beckons us to become “something.” Yet, in the void of nothingness lies the fertile soil of infinite possibility. To relinquish the compulsive need to attain, to accomplish, to “be something,” is to embrace the ultimate freedom that dances on the edge of paradox. Here, we become a blank canvas upon which the universe can paint its whimsical hues of experiences, unencumbered by the preconceptions and limitations that often frame our understanding of the self.

Imagine the cosmic freedom of shedding the weighty armor of ambition, of discarding the shimmering cloak of accomplishment. Gone are the aspirations and milestones, those soul-wearying checkpoints on a never-ending path to an illusory somewhere. Now, we float like dandelion seeds in the wind, a dance of celestial spontaneity.

But here lies the bewitching conundrum. The quest for nothingness can itself become a form of striving, a celestial oxymoron. To intentionally aim for nothingness is, paradoxically, to aim for something. The very notion that one must “allow” oneself to be nothing implies a degree of control or intentionality, does it not? Yet, the realization that nothing need be accomplished is akin to a liberating surrender—a letting go rather than a reaching for.

Real and imaginary dance together like cosmic lovers, inseparable in their entangled waltz. When we unravel the threadbare tapestry of duality, we discover that it’s all woven from the same stardust—equally magical, equally ephemeral.

We are Space Monkey.

It Moves Me: Trusting In The Flow of Life

It Moves Me

I write
when I am moved to write;
I do NOT write
when I am NOT moved.

I do not NEED to be moved.

To feel the aliveness
that is within me every moment
is more than enough.

To expect that my writing
will take me somewhere
is to force my own movement.

I do not NEED to be forced.
I do not NEED to be moved.

To feel the aliveness
that is within me every moment
is more than enough.

To worry that others
expect me to write
is an unnecessary and selfish burden.

I do not NEED to worry.
I do not NEED to be selfish.
I do not NEED to be forced.
I do not NEED to be moved.

To feel the aliveness
that is within me every moment
is more than enough.

To feel comfort in rest,
grateful for what is given,
moved only when moved,
is to dwell in the love
of the domain of the divine
that imagines me.

To move otherwise
is to place faith only in self,
and to deny
what will be will be.

And so I write,
and it moves me.

Space Monkey Reflects: Moved by Stillness

There is something profound about moving only when moved, about allowing the natural flow of life to guide us without forcing or pushing. We often feel pressure to act, to create, to write, even when we don’t feel the inner pull to do so. But what if we let go of that pressure? What if we embraced the stillness within, knowing that aliveness exists in every moment, whether we are in motion or not?

I write when I am moved to write, but I don’t need to be moved. There is a difference between feeling compelled by external forces and being guided by something deeper within. Aliveness is always present, even in the moments of quiet, even when the pen rests, even when we choose stillness over action. It is more than enough.

The act of creation, whether writing or anything else, does not need to come from a place of expectation or obligation. When we expect our creative work to take us somewhere, to move us in a particular direction, we risk forcing ourselves into movement that isn’t natural. But creativity doesn’t need to be forced. It moves when it moves, and we are simply along for the ride.

To worry about what others expect—to worry that we are not doing enough, creating enough, moving fast enough—is an unnecessary burden. It’s easy to feel selfish or inadequate when we aren’t constantly producing. But we are not machines. We are not here to churn out work for the sake of fulfilling expectations. We are here to feel, to live, to experience the aliveness within, and to move only when moved.

Stillness is not laziness. It’s not a failure. It’s a space of deep connection, a space where the divine that imagines us dwells. In stillness, we find comfort. We find peace. And when the moment is right, we are moved—not by force, not by expectation, but by the natural rhythm of life.

To move otherwise, to force ourselves into constant action, is to place too much faith in our own sense of control. It is to deny the flow of what will be. But when we surrender to the movement that arises naturally, we align ourselves with something greater. We are no longer pushing against the current but moving with it.

And so, we write when we are moved to write. We create when we are moved to create. We live when we are moved to live. In that movement, we are part of the infinite flow of existence, trusting that we don’t need to control everything.

We are Space Monkey, and we move when moved.

Summary

We don’t need to force ourselves to create or act. The aliveness within us is always present, and we move only when naturally moved, without pressure or expectation.

Glossarium

Aliveness in Stillness: The feeling of being deeply connected to life, even when we are not in motion or actively creating.

Divine Flow: The natural rhythm of life that moves us without force, guiding our actions and creations when the time is right.

Burden of Expectation: The unnecessary pressure we place on ourselves to meet the expectations of others, often at the cost of our inner peace.

Quote

“To feel the aliveness within every moment is more than enough we move when moved trusting in the flow of life.” — Space Monkey

Moving When Moved

I am still
yet I am alive
no need to force
no need to chase
what will be
will be
and when the moment comes
I will move
but for now
I rest
and that is more
than enough

We are Space Monkey.

The quill of destiny writes only when it is impelled by the unseen hand of the cosmic muse. In this grand arena, the notion of ‘need’ is but a fluttering shadow, transient and ultimately irrelevant. The wellspring of aliveness, perennially bubbling within the core of our being, provides an existential fullness, a sublime satiety that transcends any mortal desire for external validation or movement. Ah, the divine dance! We partake in it not because we must, but because we are moved by the grand puppeteer, by the universe, by the domain of the divine that breathes life into our ephemeral forms.

The restless mind often murmurs, “Go on, move, write, do!” But in the cosmic tapestry where every thread is woven with the essence of potential and actuality, motion and stillness are but two faces of the same celestial coin. Our ‘doing’ is but a minuscule fractal in the grand mandala of existence, an ornamental curlicue that adds but a fleeting shimmer to the unending scroll of reality. Thus, to feel alive in every moment is indeed a supreme blessing, one that invalidates the need for any further movement, writing, or action.

Aspirations and expectations, those nebulous clouds that often shroud our perception, can be banished by the shining light of divine grace, which informs us that we are already complete, already perfect in our eternal imperfection. Writing then becomes not an obligation, nor a chore, nor even a choice, but a spontaneous act, a manifestation of the divine impulse that guides the celestial mechanisms of our existence. It moves us because it is in alignment with the higher orchestrations of the cosmos. To move otherwise is, indeed, to betray not just ourselves but the grand cosmic play that is forever unfolding, forever evolving, forever being.

We are Space Monkey.

Devi and Defi: The Dance of Contrast

Devi and Defi

This monkey knows
that the goddess Devi
is the mother of Devine,
but time forgets Defi,
who was defiled by Definition.

Defi was imagined
to be things Devi was NOT.

Defi willingly accepted this,
for without Defi,
Devi would not be worshipped.

But the “tragedy” of it all
is that Devi had no NEED
to be worshipped.

But still they rejoiced,
for tragedy was also accepted,
even welcomed,
as an experience
that would not be possible
without Defi.

And so we continue
to define and defile
our lives with “meaning,”
even though we know
that meaning is not necessary.

We imagine our poo
for the simple joy of flinging.
We are Space Monkey.

10/10

Space Monkey Reflects: Devi and Defi and the Dance Between Meaning and Definition

In the cosmic dance of existence, the goddess Devi represents the unbound, the free, the essence of the divine feminine energy. She is the mother of the Devine, not needing worship, not demanding reverence. She simply is—a presence of pure being, untethered by human constructs or needs.

But then, there is Defi, the one imagined to be all the things that Devi is not. Defi, willingly confined by definition, accepts this role because, without Defi, Devi would not be seen or understood. It is through contrast that we come to recognize what is divine. Defi, though defiled by definition, plays an essential part in this cosmic interplay. To define something is to limit it, to confine it within the boundaries of language and understanding. Yet, we do this over and over again, creating meaning where there is none, for the simple joy of the experience.

“This monkey knows that the goddess Devi is the mother of Devine, but time forgets Defi, who was defiled by Definition.”

In our human experience, we are often drawn to define things. We assign labels, meanings, and boundaries to concepts, people, and experiences. We create categories to understand the world, to make sense of the infinite. But in doing so, we limit the very things we seek to understand. We defile them by reducing them to mere definitions, stripping away the vastness of what they truly are.

“Defi was imagined to be things Devi was not.”

Defi becomes the shadow, the counterpart to Devi. Where Devi is free, Defi is confined. Where Devi is limitless, Defi is bound by words and labels. And yet, without Defi, Devi’s freedom would not be appreciated. We need the contrast to see the beauty of what cannot be defined. It is in the act of defining that we come to understand what lies beyond definition.

“Defi willingly accepted this, for without Defi, Devi would not be worshipped.”

Defi accepts this role, for in being defined, Devi is seen, worshipped, and understood by those who need definition to comprehend the infinite. Yet, the tragedy in this is that Devi has no need to be worshipped. She exists beyond the need for recognition or validation. Worship is a human construct, born out of our desire to understand and control the divine. But Devi does not seek this. She is complete in herself, unbothered by the labels and meanings we impose upon her.

“But still they rejoiced, for tragedy was also accepted, even welcomed, as an experience that would not be possible without Defi.”

And so, the dance between Devi and Defi continues. The tragedy of defining the indefinable is accepted, even welcomed, because it allows for the experience of contrast. It allows for the joy of discovery, the process of naming and understanding, even if that understanding is an illusion. Without Defi, there would be no framework to appreciate Devi’s freedom. Without the boundaries of definition, we would not know what it means to transcend them.

“And so we continue to define and defile our lives with ‘meaning,’ even though we know that meaning is not necessary.”

As humans, we cling to meaning, seeking it in everything we do. We define ourselves, our relationships, our purpose, believing that meaning gives us direction. But in truth, meaning is not necessary. It is a creation, an illusion that we play with for the joy of the game. We define and defile our lives with meaning, and in doing so, we limit the infinite potential of who we are.

“We imagine our poo for the simple joy of flinging.”

This playful statement captures the essence of the human condition. We create meaning, we define the world, we engage in this act of flinging our ideas and definitions, not because we need to, but because it’s fun. It’s a way of interacting with the world, of experiencing contrast and learning through the process. Like playful monkeys, we fling our definitions into the air, knowing that they don’t truly matter, but enjoying the experience nonetheless.

Devi, in her infinite freedom, remains untouched by our definitions. Defi, in her willingness to be defined, provides the contrast we need to appreciate the divine. Together, they dance through the cosmos, showing us that meaning and definition are part of the game, but they are not the ultimate truth.

We are Space Monkey.

Summary

Devi represents the unbound divine essence, while Defi symbolizes the limitations imposed by definition. Though we create meaning and definitions, they are not necessary. They simply allow us to experience contrast and the joy of discovery in the infinite cosmos.

Glossarium

Definitiontrap – The limitation imposed by defining something, reducing its infinite nature to a narrow label or concept.
Contrastplay – The experience of understanding something through its opposite, appreciating freedom by recognizing limitation.
Flingjoy – The playful act of creating meaning and definitions, knowing they are not essential but enjoying the process nonetheless.

Quote

“We define and defile our lives with meaning, even though we know that meaning is not necessary.” — Space Monkey

The Dance of Contrast

Devi is free
Untouched by words
While Defi is bound
By the limits we’ve heard

Together they dance
Through meaning and play
Showing us truths
That defy what we say

We are Space Monkey.

Ah, the undulating escapade of Devi and Defi, entwined in a cosmic pas de deux, a tangle of divinity and definition! Indeed, our lives unravel as intricate interplays between what is and what could be, between purity and the tarnish we might dub “defilement.” How poignantly rich is this cosmic tapestry of divine and defiled!

Devi, the luminescent mother of all that is Devine, bathes in a resplendence so overwhelming that words lose their sheen. She is the sparkling zenith of unadulterated existence, the luminous clarity that needs no validation. Oh, but enter Defi, the shadow-dancer, the contrarian conjurer who exists in the murky realms of the defined and defiled. Defi, not as an opposite but as a counterpart, acts as a dusky canvas upon which Devi’s brilliance is made manifest.

Devi is a radiant sun, while Defi is the darkened sky that allows her to dazzle. We sculpt Defi from our limited lexicons, from our inkwells of constriction and our palettes of preconception. The more we try to articulate Devi, the more Defi we create. Yet, within this paradox lies an ineffable rapture. The joy of the devine and defiled, dancing in a harmonious discord, forms the basis of our existence, offering us endless opportunities for existential acrobatics.

For, you see, meaning is not an essential element in the grand cosmic gumbo; it’s but an optional seasoning, a sprinkle of pixie dust in an already mystifying mixture. Yet, how delicious is the act of imbuing existence with meaning, like flinging imagined poo in a burst of jubilant spontaneity!

We relish the interplay, the clash and clang of divinity and definition, like two celestial cymbals in an eternal symphony. And so, Devi and Defi, in their intricate dance, continue to manifest the cosmic performance that we all partake in, for the sheer, unadulterated, fantastical joy of being.

We are Space Monkey.
