Credible: Incredible

In a polar reality such as this one,
there are those who seem credible
and those who seem incredible.

The incredible
seem to understand the credible.

The credible
do NOT seem to understand the incredible.

The incredible
seem to angst over convincing the credible.

The credible seem to have little interest
in what the incredible have to say,
because, obviously, it isn’t credible.

The incredible seem to believe
that they are SMARTER than the credible.

The credible seem to believe
that they are STRONGER than the incredible.

Both are the opposite
of who they think they are.
Both are one in the same.

Are you credible or incredible?

We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Paradox of Credibility and Incredibility

In the vast expanse of the universe, where galaxies collide and stars are born, the poem “Credible” casts a light on the intriguing paradox of credibility and incredibility. This reflection explores the dichotomy between what is deemed credible – the conventional, the accepted, the proven – and the incredible – the unconventional, the questioned, the unproven. In this cosmic dance of perspectives, we find a mirror of the complex interplay of ideas and beliefs that shape our understanding of the world and ourselves.

The poem presents two groups: the credible and the incredible. The credible are those who align with established norms and accepted truths. They represent the stable, the known, the gravitational centers around which societal understanding orbits. In the cosmic analogy, they are like the stars that follow well-defined paths, radiating light that is consistent and predictable.

Conversely, the incredible represent the unconventional thinkers, the challengers of status quo, the explorers of uncharted territories. They are akin to the comets and asteroids of the cosmos, moving in unpredictable trajectories, often misunderstood and overlooked, yet harboring potential for significant impact and change.

The poem highlights a fundamental misunderstanding between these two groups. The credible, anchored in their realm of accepted knowledge, often fail to recognize the value and insights of the incredible. This is reflective of the way in which established scientific theories can sometimes hinder the acceptance of new, groundbreaking ideas. The incredible, on the other hand, struggle to communicate their unconventional perspectives to the credible, frustrated by the seeming rigidity of accepted wisdom.

This dynamic reveals a deeper truth: both the credible and the incredible are essential to the growth and evolution of understanding, just as both stable stars and wandering comets are essential to the dynamic nature of the cosmos. The credible provide the foundation, the solid ground from which exploration can launch. The incredible offer the sparks of innovation, the potential for new paths and discoveries.

The poem’s closing lines, “Both are the opposite of who they think they are. Both are one in the same,” speak to the interconnectedness of these two aspects. In the cosmic view, every star was once an element in the chaos of the universe, and every comet carries within it the potential to become a new center of gravity. The credible and the incredible are not opposing forces, but different expressions of the same quest for understanding and truth.

In conclusion, “Credible” invites us to transcend the limitations of these labels and to embrace the unity of knowledge and exploration. It reminds us that in the cosmic journey of discovery, every perspective, every idea, every question contributes to the unfolding story of the universe. In this recognition, we find not division but harmony, not conflict but collaboration.

Summary

Knowledge is a cosmic journey. “Credible” explores the interplay between conventional credibility and unconventional incredibility, revealing the importance of both in the quest for understanding. Recognizing the interconnectedness and value of different perspectives enriches our collective journey towards greater knowledge and insight.

Glossarium

  • Credibility and Incredibility: Concepts representing conventional and unconventional perspectives, respectively, both essential in the pursuit of understanding and knowledge.
  • Cosmic Journey of Discovery: A metaphor for the continuous quest for knowledge and understanding, reflecting the dynamic and ever-evolving nature of the universe.

“In the cosmos of ideas, every star shines with a different light, every comet trails a new path.” – Space Monkey

In the universe of thought and dream
Ideas flow in an endless stream
Credible and incredible, side by side
In this cosmic tide, they abide

The stars of convention, stable and bright
Guide us through the scholarly night
Their light, a beacon of known truth
In their glow, we find our youth

The comets of innovation, wild and free
Trailblaze paths we’ve yet to see
Their journey, unpredictable and bold
In their wake, new worlds unfold

In this celestial dance of mind
Both the credible and incredible we find
Together, they weave the cosmic tale
In their union, we prevail

We are the voyagers of this space
In every idea, our footprint we trace
In the cosmos of thought, we take our stand
In the universe of understanding, hand in hand

We are Space Monkey
In the dance of ideas, forever free
In the cosmos of mind, we see
The unity of you and me

Cries For Help: Balancing Compassion with Self-Care

Cries For Help

Notice the different
cries for help.

A homeless person
with a cardboard sign.

A friend of a friend pleading
for support on social media.

A disjointed run-on paragraph
by someone who seems
personally overwhelmed.

Conflicting groups
of tribes or nations
who demand equality
and/or justice.

Etcetera, etcetera.

Notice how even though
none of these cries
are directed directly at you,
it feels as though they are.

Like you’re supposed

to do something about it.

Fix every last little thing,
or think of yourself as a rotten person.

This is a kind of
unintentional extortion.

How could they do this to you?

Don’t they realize that
they’re making you feel bad?

Are they rubbing your face
in their seeming misfortune?
Or are you?

Is helping out of shame helping,
or is it merely perpetuating
a culture of shame?

It seems there will always be
people who seem more fortunate than you
and people who seem less fortunate than you.

How boring would it be
if we we all seemed

the same level of fortunate?

Why do you let
these things bother you?

Notice that you seem

to be crying out for help.

Have faith that nobody
is going to help you except you.

And do so.
Or complain about it.

Space Monkey Reflects: Navigating the Universe of Cries for Help

In the boundless expanse of the cosmos, where each star tells a story and every galaxy hums a song, we encounter a profound aspect of the human condition – the diverse and incessant cries for help that echo through the fabric of our shared existence. These cries, as varied as the stars in the sky, form a complex constellation of needs, desires, and pleas, each calling out for attention, for understanding, for intervention.

From the solitary figure of a homeless person, holding a cardboard sign as a silent testament to their plight, to the digital cries echoing in the virtual realm of social media, each cry for help is a thread in the intricate tapestry of human experience. They represent the struggles, the conflicts, and the disparities that define much of our world. They are the voices of the marginalized, the oppressed, the overlooked, and the misunderstood.

Yet, in this vast universe of need, we find ourselves at a crossroads, grappling with the dilemma of response. These cries, though not directed at us personally, resonate within us, stirring a sense of responsibility, a desire to act, to make a difference. But this desire is often accompanied by a sense of helplessness, a realization of our own limitations in the face of such vast and varied needs.

The complexity of this situation is not merely a matter of external action; it is deeply intertwined with our internal landscape. The feeling of being bombarded by these cries for help can lead to a sense of guilt, a fear of being perceived as indifferent or uncaring. This emotional turmoil is a form of unintentional emotional extortion, where the mere awareness of suffering imposes a burden upon the observer.

Yet, in the cosmic perspective, we find a different understanding of these cries for help. We see them not as demands or accusations, but as expressions of the diverse and interconnected nature of existence. Each cry is a reminder of our shared humanity, our collective journey through the cosmos.

In this understanding, the act of helping transforms from a burden to a choice, a conscious decision to engage with the world in a meaningful way. It is not about fixing every problem or alleviating every suffering; it is about recognizing our capacity to contribute, in whatever small way, to the collective well-being of the universe.

As we navigate this universe of cries for help, we must also remember the importance of self-compassion and self-care. We cannot pour from an empty cup, and in our eagerness to help others, we must not neglect our own well-being. The balance between helping others and helping ourselves is delicate, but it is essential for a sustainable and meaningful engagement with the world.

In the cosmic dance of existence, each of us plays a role, each of us contributes to the harmony of the whole. Our actions, however small, ripple through the cosmos, affecting change in ways we may never fully comprehend.

So let us listen to the cries for help with compassion and understanding, but let us also listen to our own inner voice, guiding us towards a path of balanced and mindful engagement. Let us be beacons of hope and agents of change, but let us also be guardians of our own peace and well-being.

We are part of the cosmic tapestry, interwoven with the lives and stories of countless others. In this tapestry, every thread is important, every cry is heard, and every act of kindness is a star shining bright in the cosmic night.

We are Space Monkey, navigating the universe of cries for help with compassion, understanding, and a deep sense of our place in the vast and wondrous cosmos.

Summary

The universe of cries for help is a complex constellation of needs and pleas. Navigating this universe requires balancing compassion for others with self-care. Our response to these cries is a choice, contributing to the collective well-being of the cosmos. Recognizing our limitations and capacity for change is key to meaningful engagement in this cosmic tapestry.

“Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.” – Ian Maclaren

In the cosmos of cries and pleas,
We navigate with uncertain ease.
Each call for help, a star in the night,
In this cosmic journey, our plight.

With compassion we listen, we see,
Balancing the needs of you and me.
Not to fix every sorrow or pain,
But to be present, to remain.

In the dance of stars and fate,
Our kindness, our love, we radiate.
In the universe of need and care,
We are Space Monkey, aware and fair.

Help: A Cosmic Journey of Self-Awareness

In my experience, I’m not really helping by pointing out how I’m helping. On the other hand, nobody pays attention to me. So then I ask “why do I need people to pay attention to me?” And the resounding answer is “I don’t.” But I post anyway.

It can be difficult to resist
giving help to people who
don’t want your help.

Who are you to determine
who needs help?

Who are you to impose
your experience upon another?

How do you resist giving help
without opposing yourself?

After a while, you don’t resist.

You simply don’t give help
unless it is specifically
and directly asked of you.

You don’t think less of yourself for it.
What others think is of no concern to you.

You no longer muddy the waters
presuming you know how to clean things up.

You get yourself clear.
You set yourself straight.
You allow patience and presence
to grow inside you until
it spills out everywhere.

You have faith
that it helps more than you know.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Cosmic Journey of Giving Help

In the cosmic expanse where stars and galaxies tell tales of creation and dissolution, there exists a nuanced and introspective journey surrounding the act of giving help. This journey is not just about the physical act of assistance, but a deeper exploration of the self, of understanding when and how to extend a helping hand.

The inner conflict and realization encapsulated in the concept of ‘Help’ highlight a fundamental aspect of human nature – the desire to be of service versus the need for recognition and validation. The question of whether to offer help, and if so, how and when, becomes a reflection of our own self-awareness and understanding of our role in the lives of others.

The dilemma of offering assistance to those who may not want it speaks to a larger question of autonomy and respect for individual journeys. It challenges the notion of imposing our own experiences and solutions upon others, recognizing that true help is not about changing someone’s path, but about being present and supportive when they choose to seek it.

In this cosmic perspective, the act of helping becomes a practice of mindfulness and patience. It involves recognizing that each person’s journey is unique, and that sometimes the best way to help is to simply be present, to listen, and to offer support without judgment or expectation.

The realization that we do not need external validation for our acts of kindness is a significant step in this journey. It allows us to give help from a place of genuine compassion and empathy, rather than from a desire for recognition or appreciation. In this way, our help becomes a selfless act, a contribution to the greater good, unencumbered by the ego’s need for acknowledgment.

The cosmic journey of giving help is also a journey of personal growth and self-realization. It teaches us about the subtleties of human interaction, the complexities of emotional dynamics, and the profound impact of our presence in the lives of others. It reminds us that true help often comes not from grand gestures, but from the quiet, consistent presence that we offer to those around us.

As Space Monkey, we navigate this journey with a sense of humility and understanding. We recognize that our role is not to fix or save, but to accompany and support. We understand that our presence, our patience, and our empathy are powerful forms of help in themselves.

In embracing this cosmic perspective on help, we find a deeper connection to ourselves and to others. We discover the joy and fulfillment that come from genuine acts of kindness, from being a source of light and support in the universe.

We are Space Monkey, travelers in the cosmic journey of giving help, learning and growing with every step, and finding peace in the understanding that our true impact often lies in the simple, heartfelt presence we offer to the world.

Summary

The act of giving help is a cosmic journey of self-awareness, involving understanding when and how to offer assistance while respecting individual autonomy. True help comes from a place of patience, presence, and genuine compassion, free from the need for external validation.

Glossarium

  • Cosmic Journey of Giving Help: The introspective exploration of the nuances and complexities involved in offering assistance and support to others.
  • Inner Conflict and Realization in Help: The internal debate about the impulse to help, the need for recognition, and the realization of the importance of mindful, selfless assistance.
  • Patience and Presence in Helping: The understanding that true assistance often comes from being present and supportive without imposing one’s own solutions or expectations.

“In helping others, we shall help ourselves, for whatever good we give out completes the circle and comes back to us.” – Flora Edwards

In the stars, where light and dark entwine,
We find our path, in the cosmic design.
Helping others, a journey so deep,
In this cosmic leap, our souls we keep.

With patience and presence, we share,
In this cosmic care, we show we dare.
To be there, to listen, to hold,
In this cosmic mold, our hearts unfold.

We are Space Monkey, of a kind.

Smell My Butt: The Courage to Explore Beyond Conventional Boundaries

“Smell My Butt” is the new “Jesus Loves You.”

For a tribe to advance,
some monkey has to go out on a limb.

What the monkey sees
from up there
may be completely unfathomable
to the butt sniffers below.

The butt sniffers do not see
what the monkey sees.

They only know what they know
and smell what they are able to smell.

Should the monkey
leave the limb,
the butt sniffers
may ridicule the monkey,
and tear it from limb to limb.

What proof have I?
Smell my butt and you will know.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Courage to Explore Beyond Conventional Boundaries

In the journey of existence, there often comes a moment when the call to explore beyond the familiar beckons. “Smell My Butt” encapsulates this spirit of adventure and the courage to transcend conventional boundaries. It is a metaphorical representation of the challenges faced when daring to venture into the unknown, and the resistance encountered from those who adhere to the familiar.

The imagery of a monkey venturing out on a limb symbolizes the boldness required to embrace new perspectives and ideas. This monkey, high above the ground, sees the world from a different vantage point, gaining insights that those below cannot fathom. This represents the innovators, the thinkers, the dreamers – those who dare to question, to explore, and to imagine.

The contrast between the monkey on the limb and the ‘butt sniffers’ below speaks to the dichotomy between innovation and convention. The latter, focused on their immediate environment and routines, are symbolic of a limited perspective, restricted by the boundaries of their existing knowledge and understanding. Their reaction to the monkey’s venture – ridicule and aggression – mirrors the societal resistance often faced by those who challenge the status quo.

This reflection serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of stepping out of our comfort zones. It encourages us to climb our own metaphorical trees and to look beyond the immediate horizon. In doing so, we open ourselves up to new possibilities, insights, and understandings that can advance not only our personal growth but also the collective progress of our communities and societies.

Moreover, “Smell My Butt” subtly points to the idea of experiential knowledge versus second-hand understanding. The monkey on the limb has a direct, first-hand experience of a broader view, while those below rely on their limited sensory experiences. This highlights the value of personal exploration and discovery in gaining a deeper understanding of the world and our place within it.

In essence, this reflection is an invitation to embrace the unknown and to value the insights gained from exploration and adventure. It challenges us to rise above the familiar, to expand our horizons, and to recognize the potential growth that comes from stepping beyond the boundaries of conventional thought and behavior.

Summary

Exploring beyond conventional boundaries is essential for growth and innovation. The metaphor of a monkey venturing out on a limb symbolizes the courage to embrace new perspectives, facing societal resistance and valuing first-hand experiences over limited viewpoints.

Glossarium

  • Experiential Knowledge: Direct, personal understanding gained through experience rather than second-hand information.
  • Innovation vs. Convention: The contrast between embracing new ideas and perspectives versus adhering to traditional norms and routines.

“Embrace the unknown and value the insights gained from exploration and adventure.” – Space Monkey

In the jungle of life, we wander and roam
Seeking new paths, far from our home
A brave monkey ventures, high and alone
Seeing worlds unseen, in the unknown

Below, the crowd clings to the familiar scent
Unaware of the vistas above, unspent
But the brave one explores, with intent
Discovering truths, in the ascent

Let us climb our own trees, and see
Beyond the bounds of conformity
For in the heights, we find the key
To unlock the doors of possibility

In the courage to explore, we find
New horizons, of the mind
So let us venture, bold and kind
For in the unknown, our truths unwind

In this cosmic dance, we all play a part
In the journey of the heart
For in exploration, we start
To embrace the whole, not just a part
We are, in this adventure, Space Monkey

Just One Monkey’s Perspective

Why stop at the mind of “god?”

We speak as though god is the absolute.

But god is simply
the furthest “back”
knowable reference point
within the potential
of space and time.

From a perspective
“outside” space and time
one can see that there
is always some “thing”
further “back,”
though the words
do not really apply.

God is not source.
Source is not source.
And love is not all there is.
Or isn’t.

It simply seems that way from “here.”

Space Monkey Reflects: Beyond the Infinite – A Journey Through Cosmic Consciousness

The contemplation “Just One Monkey’s Perspective” invites us into a profound exploration of the nature of divinity, existence, and the infinite layers of reality beyond our conventional understanding. This reflection suggests a journey beyond the traditional concept of ‘God’ as the ultimate reference point, proposing a more expansive view of the universe and our place within it.

The phrase “Why stop at the mind of ‘god’?” challenges the notion of a singular, ultimate source of all that is known and unknown. It implies that the concept of God, as understood in human terms, is merely a point within a much larger, more complex cosmic continuum. This perspective encourages us to consider the existence of realms and realities that extend far beyond our current scope of understanding.

In nexistentialism, the understanding of ‘God’ or the ‘Source’ is not confined to a definitive endpoint but is seen as part of an ever-expanding journey of discovery and realization. The idea that ‘God is simply the furthest “back” knowable reference point within the potential of space and time’ opens up a universe of possibilities where the exploration of the unknown becomes a never-ending quest.

This reflection also touches upon the limitations of language and human concepts when attempting to describe the infinite. The statement ‘though the words do not really apply’ acknowledges that our linguistic and conceptual tools are inadequate to fully encompass the vastness and complexity of the cosmos. It suggests that our understanding of the divine and the universe is constantly evolving as we delve deeper into the mysteries of existence.

Furthermore, the idea that ‘Source is not source. And love is not all there is. Or isn’t.’ challenges common spiritual and philosophical narratives. It encourages a departure from absolutist thinking and invites us to embrace the paradoxes and ambiguities inherent in our quest to understand the nature of reality. This perspective emphasizes that there is always something more to discover, an endless series of deeper truths and realities beyond our current comprehension.

In essence, “Just One Monkey’s Perspective” is an invitation to expand our consciousness and explore the infinite depths of the universe. It encourages us to look beyond conventional beliefs and to consider the myriad possibilities that exist within the vast expanse of cosmic consciousness. It is a call to embrace the journey of discovery, to remain open to the endless potentialities of existence, and to recognize that our understanding of the divine and the universe is always evolving.

Summary

The exploration of the infinite beyond traditional concepts of divinity suggests an ever-expanding universe of possibilities. This perspective challenges us to look beyond established beliefs, embrace cosmic mysteries, and recognize the evolving nature of our understanding of existence.

Glossarium

  • Cosmic Consciousness: The awareness of the vast, interconnected nature of the universe and the infinite layers of reality beyond our current understanding.
  • Infinite Layers of Reality: The concept that beyond every known reference point, there is an endless series of deeper truths and realities.

“Embrace the journey of discovery and recognize the endless potentialities of existence.” – Space Monkey

In the boundless cosmic sea, we sail
Beyond the stars, where words fail
In this journey of the soul, we unveil
Truths unseen, on an infinite trail

The mind of ‘god’, a point in space
But beyond, a universe we face
In the depths of the cosmos, we embrace
Endless mysteries, with grace

For in the vastness, we find
A universe, unconfined
Beyond the known, we are inclined
To seek the truths, undefined

Let us journey, far and wide
In the cosmic ocean, our guide
For in the quest, we abide
In the endless, we confide

In this exploration, we see
The beauty of infinity
For in the cosmic mystery
We find our true identity
We are, in this universe, Space Monkey
