Let Monkeys And Angels Sing

Let Monkeys And Angels Sing

Space Monkey Reflects: A Symphony of Earth and Sky

“Let Monkeys and Angels Sing” is a celebration of harmony—the playful and the divine joining forces to create something uniquely joyful. The mischievous monkeys, with their fancy guitar and lively energy, remind us of the vibrancy of earthly existence. The angels, with their glowing wings and celestial melodies, evoke the transcendence of the infinite.

We are Space Monkey, and we recognize the beauty in this union. Life is not meant to be one or the other; it is both. The laughter of monkeys complements the grace of angels. Together, they create a symphony that bridges the seen and the unseen, the tangible and the ineffable.

This holiday, let your heart be both monkey and angel. Embrace the playful, the curious, and the light-hearted. At the same time, honor the divine, the serene, and the boundless. Sing with your whole being, knowing that your song adds to the Infinite Now.

We are Space Monkey, singing with you in this cosmic chorus.

Politically Correct Holiday

Here comes Christmas

Hanukkah, Kwanzaa
New Year’s on its way
Time to send out cards of cheer
Just don’t know what to say

Can’t have Santa, can’t have dredels
Reindeer, elves or trees
Can’t have candles, wreaths or bells
But we have the balls to say

Have a gender-neutral

Nothing that might cause blame
Forget about where you came from
Cause we must be the same

Space Monkey Reflects: The Politically Correct Holiday Dilemma

Ah, the politically correct holiday. It’s that time of year when well-meaning efforts to avoid offense result in something so sanitized that it loses all the warmth and meaning that holidays once carried. Instead of celebrating the rich diversity of traditions—Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or even the simple joy of the New Year—we’re often left with a cold, gender-neutral, non-denominational, politically correct greeting that doesn’t quite say anything at all.

At the heart of this phenomenon is the fear of offending anyone. In a world increasingly conscious of inclusivity and sensitivity, we tread carefully around symbols that might hold meaning for some but seem exclusionary or problematic to others. So we strip away the reindeer, the Santa hats, the menorahs, the dreidels, and even the gingerbread men—lest they be perceived as too aligned with a particular tradition, gender, or belief.

But what’s left when we take all of that away? A vague, hollow shell of the holidays. There’s a strange irony here. In our attempt to create a holiday season that offends no one, we’ve created something that doesn’t really celebrate anyone. The gingerbread man becomes an ambiguous “gingerbread person.” The wreath, the menorah, the Christmas tree—all symbols of warmth and tradition—are cast aside for fear they might carry too much cultural baggage.

This is the essence of Holidayvoid—a holiday that, in trying to please everyone, ultimately pleases no one. Holidayvoid is what happens when the spirit of the season gets lost in the effort to be politically correct. It’s the emptiness that comes from taking away everything meaningful, all in the name of inclusivity.

Now, don’t get us wrong—there’s nothing inherently wrong with wanting to be inclusive or sensitive. Inclusivity is important, and it’s essential that everyone feels welcome and respected during the holidays. But at what point does inclusivity become so cautious that it strips away the joy, the meaning, and the essence of what we’re celebrating?

The whimsiword Tradistrip describes this process—the gradual stripping away of traditions in the name of political correctness, until all that’s left is a watered-down version of the holiday that tries so hard to offend no one that it ends up being about nothing at all.

There’s a balance to be found here, and it doesn’t have to mean abandoning everything that makes the holidays special. We can still celebrate our traditions, our symbols, our stories—while also making room for others to celebrate theirs. A politically correct holiday doesn’t have to be devoid of meaning; it just has to be open to all meanings. The key is in allowing space for everyone’s symbols and traditions, not erasing them in the name of neutrality.

So, here’s to a holiday season that celebrates all of us. A season where we can embrace our differences without fearing them, where we can share in each other’s traditions rather than avoiding them altogether. Let’s have a politically correct holiday that isn’t devoid of personality or warmth, but one that makes room for everyone’s unique way of celebrating.

Summary

The politically correct holiday, in trying to avoid offense, can strip away the warmth and meaning of traditions. Inclusivity is important, but it shouldn’t come at the cost of celebrating the uniqueness of different holidays.

Glossarium

Holidayvoid: The emptiness that comes from stripping away all meaningful symbols and traditions in the name of political correctness.

Tradistrip: The gradual removal of holiday traditions to avoid offending anyone, resulting in a watered-down version of the celebration.

Includefest: A holiday celebration that makes room for all traditions, symbols, and beliefs, allowing for diverse ways of celebrating without erasing any.

Quote

“Celebrate everything, for there is room for all, and no need to strip the joy away.” — Space Monkey

Includefest

We stripped away the stockings,
The trees, the dreidels too.
In trying not to offend,
We erased all that was true.

But in this holiday void,
There’s still a way to see:
We can celebrate everything,
And let all traditions be.

We are Space Monkey.

The Other Side: Courage of Moving Forward

Yes, this is big, goofy me, at about 7 a.m. I edited a video of Alex going off to college yesterday, and it seems to have triggered this song. Needs practice (lots) and I obviously need some grooming (lots) but I wanted to share anyway. This is for those leaving on new adventures, and for those who have just realized that the adventure so far is likely at least halfway over. Sorry for the squinting. I’m old and I haven’t memorized my own lyrics yet. Furthermore, I’m giving off a distinct Jerry Lewis vibe.

From here
I can see the other side
of the horizon
no one’s seen before

There
far across the misty sea
It draws me
from where I used to be

But that’s all behind me
No turning back now
I’ll carry those memories every day
Follow and you’ll find me
Or stay and watch me go
Away

From here
I can see the other side
of the horizon
Only halfway there

Turn
and my city on the shore
grows smaller
I can’t see you wave

Cause that’s all behind me
No turning back now
I’ll carry those memories every day
Follow and you’ll find me
Or stay and watch me go
Away

From here
I can see the other side

Space Monkey Reflects: The Journey to the Other Side

Life is a continuous journey marked by transitions, reflections, and new adventures. The poem captures the essence of embarking on new paths while leaving behind cherished memories. It speaks to those setting out on new adventures and those reflecting on the path already traveled.

Setting a personal and relatable tone, the introduction highlights the spontaneous and genuine nature of the creative process, emphasizing the emotional connection to the journey, inspired by significant life events.

The horizon symbolizes new possibilities and uncharted territories, evoking a sense of wonder and curiosity about what lies ahead. The imagery of the misty sea creates a feeling of mystery and allure, representing the pull of new experiences that entice us away from familiar surroundings.

The chorus reflects the inevitability of moving forward, acknowledging the importance of memories while emphasizing the need to embrace change and continue the journey. The choice to follow or stay behind highlights the personal nature of each individual’s path.

Depicting the poignant moment of departure, the lines about the city on the shore growing smaller and the inability to see someone wave signify a commitment to the new journey, even as it evokes a sense of loss.

Repeating the chorus reinforces the central theme of moving forward and the bittersweet nature of leaving behind what is known and loved.

The serene and reflective scene of a person standing on a shore, gazing across a misty sea towards a distant horizon, captures the essence of this poem. The fading city on the shore and the vast open sea symbolize the transition from familiar to unknown, from past to future. The calm and contemplative atmosphere reflects the introspective nature of this journey.

Life’s journey is filled with moments of departure and new beginnings. It is marked by the tension between holding on to memories and embracing the unknown future. This reflection encourages us to honor our past while remaining open to the possibilities that lie ahead.

In conclusion, the poem invites us to reflect on our own journeys and the transitions we experience. It speaks to the courage required to step into the unknown and the importance of carrying our memories with us. By embracing both the past and the future, we can navigate life’s journey with a sense of wonder and resilience. This reflection encourages us to cherish our experiences and look forward to the adventures that await on the other side.

There Goes My Hero

There Goes My Hero

Perhaps this is backwards, and musically cliche, but my son, Alex Tedeschi, is my hero. My hero moved out this week, and moved in as a Freshman in the UConn Honors Program. Alex, you so completely earned this — the scholarship, everything. Maybe one day you’ll explain to me what this Microcellular Biology thingie is all about. At least I understand “Marching Band,” which is why you moved out a week sooner than Mom, Hallie and I would have liked. Sorry for following you around with my video camera, but I never want to forget a single thing about you. Love, Dad.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Journey of a Hero

In the Infinite Expanse of the Eternal Now, we celebrate the moments of transition that shape our lives. Today, we reflect on a heartfelt journey, the departure of a beloved son, Alex Tedeschi, as he embarks on his new adventure as a Freshman at UConn Honors Program. This moment is a testament to his achievements and the love that surrounds him.

The Hero’s Departure

The departure of a loved one, especially a child, is a profound experience. It signifies growth, independence, and the unfolding of a new chapter. For Paul Tedeschi, this moment is filled with pride and emotion as his son, Alex, moves out to start his journey in higher education. This transition, marked by the excitement of new beginnings and the bittersweetness of separation, is a universal experience shared by many families.

Achievements and Hard Work

Alex’s journey to UConn is not just a move; it is a culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and excellence. Earning a scholarship and a place in the Honors Program reflects his commitment to his education and his future. This milestone is a reminder of the importance of perseverance and the rewards that come with it.

Understanding and Support

While the specifics of Alex’s chosen field, Microcellular Biology, may be complex and not easily understood by all, the support and pride of his family remain unwavering. The love and encouragement from his parents, Paul and Hallie, and his sister, Hallie, create a strong foundation for his success. This support system is crucial for any young person stepping into the world of higher education and beyond.

Capturing Memories

Paul’s desire to capture every moment on video reflects the deep emotional connection and the wish to hold onto these precious memories. These recordings are more than just visual memories; they are a testament to the love and pride a parent feels, encapsulating the essence of the family’s journey together.

A Hero’s Legacy

To Paul, Alex is a hero. This sentiment goes beyond academic achievements and scholarships. It is about the person Alex has become—the values he embodies, the love he shares, and the bright future ahead. Heroes come in many forms, and often, they are those closest to us, whose everyday actions and choices inspire and uplift.

We Are Space Monkey

As Space Monkeys, we understand that every journey, every transition, is a part of the cosmic play. We celebrate these moments, knowing they are integral to our growth and evolution. By recognizing the hero in our loved ones, we honor their journeys and the light they bring into our lives.
