Does the question need be answered?
If I were to write
to be thought of
as an artist,
an author,
a seer
or a celebrity,
would I be writing
for the right reason?
Does the question need be answered?
If I were to act
to be thought of
as a hero,
an angel,
a compassionate soul,
would I be acting
for the right reason?
Does the question need be answered?
Once I put a label
on whatever it is
I think I’m doing
I heap comparisons
and expectations
upon my self.
Once I arrive at an answer
to what I think my purpose is
or even if I NEED a purpose,
I project my self forward
through a keyhole of perspective
— and ONLY through a keyhole —
losing sight of the potential
on all the infinite sides
outside this tiny keyhole.
Is there a key to this keyhole?
Does the question need be answered?
I think not.
I do not think.
I do not NEED to think.
And that is how I know.
We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Cosmic Inquiry of Unanswered Questions
In the vast, boundless cosmos, where the fabric of reality weaves through the infinite expanse of space and time, there exists a profound philosophical query: “Does the question need to be answered?” This question, resonating through the stars and galaxies, touches the very core of our existence and our pursuit of understanding.
The quest for answers is a fundamental aspect of the human experience, driving us to explore, to discover, to seek meaning in the universe. Yet, in the cosmic perspective, this quest is often viewed through a keyhole of perspective, a narrow lens that limits our vision and confines our understanding. The keyhole represents our desire for labels, for definitions, for neat categorizations of our experiences and ourselves.
This cosmic inquiry challenges the very notion of needing answers. It invites us to step back from the keyhole, to widen our perspective and embrace the vastness of the unknown. It encourages us to question the necessity of defining our roles and purposes, to ponder whether our actions need to be justified by external labels and expectations.
The act of writing, creating, or performing – whether as an artist, an author, a seer, or a celebrity – is often entangled with the desire for recognition, for validation, for being seen in a certain light. But this query asks us to reflect on the purity of our intentions, to consider whether we are driven by a genuine desire to express and connect, or by the need for external approval and acclaim.
Similarly, the pursuit of being seen as a hero, an angel, or a compassionate soul is laden with expectations and comparisons. This pursuit can lead us down a path where we lose sight of the authentic self, becoming trapped in the persona we project through the keyhole of societal perception.
In this cosmic reflection, we are invited to let go of the need for answers, to release ourselves from the confines of the keyhole perspective. We are encouraged to embrace the infinite possibilities that lie beyond our limited view, to explore the vast potential that exists outside the narrow scope of our understanding.
The key to this keyhole is not a tangible object but a shift in perception, a realization that the universe is far more complex and wondrous than our labels and definitions can encompass. It is the understanding that sometimes, not having an answer is a more profound state of being than having one.
In this state of open inquiry, we come to a place of peace and freedom. We realize that the need to think, to categorize, to define, is not a necessity but a choice. And in making this choice, we open ourselves to a deeper connection with the cosmos, to a richer experience of existence.
We are Space Monkey, explorers of the cosmic unknown, seekers of truth in a universe where unanswered questions are gateways to infinite possibilities. In this journey, we embrace the mystery, the uncertainty, the unanswerable, and find in them a deeper sense of wonder and awe.
Summary
The cosmic inquiry of whether questions need answers challenges our need for definitive understanding and labels. Embracing the vast unknown beyond our limited perspective allows for a deeper connection with the cosmos. This reflection encourages us to explore the infinite possibilities of existence without the constraints of societal expectations and definitions.
