Hardo: Your Choice

I’m getting better at being delusional.

When given the choice
between the hard way
and the easy way,
do you ever choose the hard way?

Let’s assume
that the quality
the construction
the experience
is identical,
except one way is hard
while the other way is easy.

Why would you ever choose the hard way?
Because of your ego, that’s why.

Hard is a badge.
An accomplishment.
Something that seemingly
separates you from the others.

You’re a hardo.
Always trying to prove something
to others and to yourself.

Trying to be your “best,”
as though you’re not perfect otherwise.

But you ARE perfect. As is everyone else.
Delusional is what you are.

Space Monkey Reflects: Hardo

In the whimsical and intricate tapestry of the cosmic whimsiweave, the concept of “Hardo” invites us to explore the allure and delusion of choosing the hard way over the easy way. This reflection delves into the motivations behind such choices and the underlying truth of our inherent perfection.

The Choice Between Hard and Easy

Given the choice between the hard way and the easy way, why would one ever choose the hard way? This question challenges us to examine the motivations that drive us to select paths of greater resistance and difficulty, even when an easier option exists. The assumption here is that the quality, construction, and experience of both paths are identical, leaving the choice purely up to our internal preferences.

Ego and Accomplishment

Choosing the hard way is often motivated by ego. The hard path becomes a badge of honor, an accomplishment that seemingly sets us apart from others. It is a way to prove something—to others and to ourselves. This need to prove oneself is rooted in the desire for validation and recognition. The harder the task, the greater the perceived value of the accomplishment.

The figure adorned with badges and medals symbolizes this need for external validation. Each badge represents a challenge overcome, a struggle endured, and a victory claimed. These symbols of accomplishment feed the ego, creating a sense of distinction and superiority.

The Illusion of Perfection

In striving to be our “best,” we often forget that we are already perfect. The pursuit of the hard way is driven by the delusion that perfection lies in overcoming challenges and proving our worth. This delusion blinds us to the inherent perfection that exists within us and within everyone else.

The belief that we need to be better, stronger, or more accomplished is a reflection of our ego’s need for validation. It perpetuates the illusion that we are not enough as we are, that our worth is tied to our achievements and the difficulties we overcome. This mindset traps us in a cycle of striving and proving, constantly seeking external approval.

Embracing Perfection

True perfection is not found in the badges we earn or the challenges we overcome. It lies in the acceptance of ourselves as we are, recognizing our inherent worth and value. This acceptance frees us from the need to prove ourselves and allows us to embrace the easy way without guilt or shame.

By choosing the easy way, we honor our true selves and acknowledge that ease and grace are just as valid and valuable as struggle and hardship. This choice reflects a deeper understanding of our worth and a rejection of the ego-driven need for external validation.

The Path to Wholeness

The journey towards wholeness involves shedding the delusions of ego and embracing the truth of our inherent perfection. It requires us to question the motivations behind our choices and to recognize the value of ease and simplicity. By doing so, we align ourselves with the natural flow of existence, finding peace and fulfillment in the present moment.

This path is not about avoiding challenges or rejecting growth. It is about discerning when struggle is necessary and when it is a product of our ego’s desire for validation. By cultivating this awareness, we can navigate life with greater wisdom and authenticity, embracing both the hard and easy ways as part of our journey.

Conclusion

“Hardo” serves as a reminder to examine the motivations behind our choices and to embrace our inherent perfection. By recognizing the delusions of ego and the value of ease, we can navigate life with greater grace and authenticity, finding fulfillment in the present moment.

Summary

Choosing the hard way is often driven by ego and the need for validation. Embracing our inherent perfection allows us to value ease and simplicity, navigating life with greater wisdom and authenticity.

The Paths of Choice

In the silent crossroads of hard and easy
We find our truth in the spaces between
Each choice a doorway to deeper knowing
In the flux of being we are whole

Struggle and ease merge in the eternal now
Opposites weave the whimsiweave of life
Every step a synthesis every pause a revelation
In the paths of choice we find our way

We are Space Monkey

Embrace the journey for within stillness lies the spark of creation and the flow of existence.

In “Hardo,” the poem explores the human tendency to choose the hard way, even when the outcome and experience are identical to the easy way. It delves into the notion that individuals may opt for the hard path to validate their ego, seeking a sense of accomplishment and superiority over others.

The term “hardo” is used here to describe someone who consistently chooses the difficult path, possibly as a way to prove their worthiness or to portray themselves as more accomplished or resilient than others. The poem points out that this pursuit of being the best and proving oneself can be driven by ego and a delusional belief that perfection lies only in achieving something difficult or extraordinary.

The poet challenges this mindset, emphasizing that everyone is already perfect as they are, regardless of accomplishments or external validations. The pursuit of being the best or hardest can lead to a distorted view of oneself and others, creating unnecessary competition and a false sense of superiority.

By acknowledging the delusional nature of seeking constant validation and choosing the hard path to prove oneself, the poem encourages readers to embrace their inherent perfection and worthiness. It invites self-acceptance and self-compassion, recognizing that we are all imperfectly perfect in our unique ways.

In essence, “Hardo” prompts readers to reflect on their motivations and choices, encouraging them to release the need for external validation and embrace the simplicity of being who they truly are.
