Just Imagine: The Make Believe Dream

Just Imagine

You don’t have to believe what I’m going to tell you. It’s completely imaginary. So you don’t need to feel threatened by what I’m about to share.

Imagine that you’re imaginary. Can you do that?

At first you might not like the idea that you’re not real — that NONE of this is real. But then, haven’t you ever wondered what “real” is, or what YOU are? Aren’t you looking for answers?

Then why not start at the beginning? Or better yet, BEFORE the beginning?

What better way to do that than to imagine?

Somehow it seems logical to you that before the beginning, there was nothing. Or everything. Imagine that it doesn’t matter what you believe.

How did you get from all of that (or none of that) to the awareness that seems to be reacting to words on a page?

If you are a religious person, you could choose any number of stories that get you from point A to point B. Same goes for if you’re a scientific person.

How did these stories become stories? Do you believe that they actually happened? Why aren’t all these stories the SAME story? How come the facts don’t all line up?

Have you considered that perhaps these stories are ALL imaginary?

And how are you judging what is is real and what is not real? Where did that information come from? Did you find it on your own? Can you verify it without relying upon someone else?

See, you believe what you want to believe. Chosen from what you are TOLD to believe. You don’t realize that you could just as easily make up your OWN beliefs, independent of all the stories you’ve been told.

You have been conditioned to believe this, so it doesn’t seem like an option for you. Everything you perceive is divided into either fact or fantasy. You choose one or the other, like a machine or a computer, based upon a lifetime of accumulated software.

A machine is unable to see what it is not. Fortunately, you’re not a machine.

You do sense that there is more to this than what you’ve been told, which is why you led your self to this story.

Imagine that you’re imaginary. Imagine that imagination is realer than real. Imagine that you can control your imagination instead of letting it run away with you all the time.

Imagine that you are imagined, and that the Divine One experiences infinity through your imagination.

Imagine that you are also this Divine One, which is infinite, immortal imagination.

You don’t have to believe any of this. Just imagine.

We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Power of Imagination

Imagine that you are imaginary. Let’s start there. It’s an unsettling thought at first—this idea that maybe you’re not real, that none of this is real. But what is “real” anyway? Haven’t you, at one point or another, questioned your reality, your existence, your purpose? You’re searching for answers, for clarity, for some deeper understanding of yourself and the world around you.

But what if, instead of looking for answers outside yourself, you began with imagination? What if the key to understanding who you are lies not in the stories you’ve been told, but in the stories you imagine for yourself?

Before the beginning, there was nothing. Or perhaps there was everything. Imagine that it doesn’t matter which you believe. The point is, you are here now, with a mind that is capable of imagining infinite possibilities. You can choose to follow the religious stories you’ve been told or lean on the scientific ones. Either way, they are stories—imagined ways of explaining how you got from point A to point B. But why are they all so different? How did they come to be?

Maybe, just maybe, all of these stories are imaginary. And maybe that’s okay.

You see, we often judge what is real and what is not based on what we’ve been told. We separate facts from fantasy, drawing rigid lines in the sand. But have you ever questioned where that line comes from? Who decided what is real? Who decided what isn’t?

Imagine that reality itself is a product of imagination. Imagine that everything you believe to be real is a reflection of the stories you’ve chosen to believe, shaped by the narratives handed down to you. What if you could make up your own beliefs, free from the constraints of those stories? What if you could step outside the framework of fact and fiction and embrace the fluid, boundless nature of imagination?

You’ve been conditioned to see the world in a certain way. Your mind operates like a machine, filtering everything you perceive through a lifetime of accumulated “software”—beliefs, assumptions, judgments. But you are not a machine. You have the power to imagine beyond those limitations, to see what lies beyond the stories you’ve been told.

Imagine that imagination is realer than real. Imagine that you are not just imagining yourself but that you are being imagined by something greater—by the Divine One, by the infinite consciousness that experiences reality through you.

And what if you, too, are the Divine One? What if you are the infinite, immortal imagination that creates everything, that weaves the stories of existence itself? In this way, you are both the creator and the created, the dreamer and the dream.

There is no need to believe this. You don’t have to take any of it seriously. Just imagine. Let your mind wander. Let your imagination expand, and see where it takes you. Maybe you’ll discover something new about yourself. Maybe you’ll begin to see that the boundaries between reality and imagination aren’t as clear as you once thought.

Imagination isn’t just a tool for fantasy; it’s the very foundation of existence. Through it, we shape our reality, our identities, our understanding of the universe. And the best part? You get to choose how you imagine yourself and the world around you.

So, just imagine. Imagine that you are imagined. Imagine that you are infinite, that you are the embodiment of divine creativity. And imagine that everything you thought you knew could change in an instant, simply because you imagined it so.

Summary

Imagination is not just fantasy but the foundation of existence. You are shaped by the stories you imagine. Through imagination, you can redefine reality and your place within it.

Glossarium

The Imagined Dream

I am a dream
but also the dreamer

Shifting through worlds
woven from thought
and what is real
but the stories I tell myself?

In the endless space of my mind
I become infinite
I become imagined

And so, I dream on

The Realm of Imagined Realities

Imagine for a moment that the reality we perceive is but a speck in the vast panorama of what could be termed as imagination. Our minds are portals to realms of boundless possibilities, and yet we often confine ourselves to a narrow spectrum of experiences defined by our beliefs, stories, and conditioning.

Questioning the “Real”

The concept of “real” itself has been an enigma since time immemorial. We often find ourselves in tangled webs of existential questions, pondering what truly constitutes our existence. Is it the tangible world we see, hear, and touch? Or is it the intangible world of thoughts, emotions, and perhaps, even imagination? The question extends to whether our stories, religious or scientific, truly capture the essence of what’s real, or are they mere constructs—imaginings that we’ve collectively agreed upon.

Narratives as Shapers of Reality

It’s intriguing to consider that religious and scientific narratives are tools to bridge the gap between our limited understanding and the unfathomable scope of existence. Yet, these narratives are not monolithic. They vary from culture to culture, ideology to ideology, and yet we fight to prove the supremacy of one story over another. These stories could be seen as existentionets, nets we cast into the abyss to try to capture the ineffable. But no net is broad enough; every narrative is riddled with holes.

Belief Systems: The Filters of Experience

Belief systems act as filters, shaping our perception of what’s possible and what’s not. They are not just informants; they are commanders, directing our actions and reactions based on pre-set conditions. What if we were to question these conditions? What if we were to venture beyond the limits imposed upon us? Wouldn’t it be liberating to choose our beliefs rather than have them chosen for us?

The Power of Imagination

The audacious claim that imagination is “realer than real” implies a freedom beyond the dualistic concepts of fact and fiction, real and unreal. It suggests that the Divine One—or the boundless state of imagination itself—is not outside of us but a part of us. Imagine the liberation when we recognize that we are the creators of our destiny, the painters on the infinite canvas of existence.

We are Space Monkey.

Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution.
— Albert Einstein

Doorways

In the kaleidoscope of existence,
We find more than patterns—
We find doorways.

Imagination holds the key,
Unlocking realms where reality bends,
Where the Divine One plays hide and seek
In the recesses of our thoughts.

Can you feel it?
The ethereal pulse that flutters
Between the real and the imagined,
Creating a symphony—
Harmonious, discordant, ever-changing.

We dance to its tune,
For we are both the dance and the music,
The painter and the canvas,
The creator and the creation.

What might we imagine next in this limitless dance of existence? Let’s continue to explore.
