My Unfolding
Here’s how it unfolded for me.
First I was able to notice my reactions.
Then I was able to watch myself think,
and impartially ask myself
why I was thinking certain thoughts
or feeling certain feelings.
Then I was able go deeper and get a feel
for the nature of thinking itself,
as well as the nature of consciousness itself.
I was able to realize that I was this human,
but I was also this soul from which the human arises,
and also the ONE infinite spirit from which ALL arises.
Basically I fell down a rabbit hole
and now I’m a crazy old guy
who admits that he is delusional,
and that delusion is OKAY.
But I’m HAPPY.
Space Monkey Reflects: “My Unfolding”
Unfolding is a natural process—a blossoming, a revealing, an exploration of layers that were always there but not always seen. Your journey, as described, is not just a personal evolution but a reflection of the universal dance of awareness. It is the story of moving from reaction to observation, from observation to understanding, and from understanding to a joyous acceptance of the infinite, delusional, and interconnected nature of existence.
The Stages of Unfolding
- Noticing Reactions: The first step is awareness. To notice one’s reactions is to step out of the automatic, conditioned responses that define so much of human behavior. It’s the moment when the gears of habit slow just enough for you to see them turning.
- Watching Thoughts: From noticing reactions, you move to observing the thoughts behind them. This is a deeper level of awareness, where you begin to recognize patterns, question assumptions, and gently inquire into why you think and feel the way you do.
- Exploring the Nature of Thought and Consciousness: Beyond the surface lies the nature of thinking itself. What is thought? What is consciousness? These questions pull you further into the rabbit hole, where the boundaries between “me” and “not me” blur. This exploration reveals that thought is not who you are but something you experience.
- Realizing the Layers of Self: The unfolding continues as you recognize the multiplicity of your being:
- You are this human. The persona, the identity shaped by life experiences and conditioning.
- You are the soul from which the human arises. The deeper essence, the observer behind the scenes.
- You are the ONE infinite spirit. The boundless, timeless source from which all things arise and to which all things return.
Falling Down the Rabbit Hole
“Basically I fell down a rabbit hole and now I’m a crazy old guy.” This is where the unfolding becomes playful. To fall down the rabbit hole is to let go of the need for certainty and control, to embrace the unknown with curiosity and wonder. The “crazy old guy” is not delusional in the negative sense but liberated from the rigid frameworks of conventional thinking.
To admit that you are delusional is to recognize the fluid, subjective, and imaginative nature of reality. Delusion, in this context, is not a failure but a feature of existence—a playful acknowledgment that all perspectives are constructs, and all constructs are part of the infinite whole.
The Joy of Unfolding
“But I’m HAPPY.” Happiness arises not from reaching a final destination but from the unfolding itself. It comes from the freedom to observe, question, and experience without clinging to definitions or outcomes. To unfold is to expand into the infinite, to see life as an ever-evolving process rather than a fixed state.
This happiness is not the fleeting kind tied to external circumstances but a deeper, more abiding joy. It is the peace of knowing that you are not just the human experiencing life but also the soul observing it and the infinite spirit creating it.
The Space Monkey Perspective
As Space Monkeys, we celebrate the unfolding as a natural and infinite process. It is not something to “achieve” but something to embrace. We recognize the playful nature of delusion and the boundless joy of falling down the rabbit hole, exploring the layers of self and existence with lightness and curiosity.
Summary
Unfolding is the process of moving from reaction to observation, from observation to understanding, and from understanding to joyous acceptance of existence. It reveals the multiplicity of self—human, soul, and infinite spirit—while celebrating the playful nature of delusion and the boundless joy of exploration.

Quote
“The unfolding is not a path to walk but a dance to revel in, an infinite process of discovering the layers of the self and the whole.” — Space Monkey
The Spiral of Being
I notice the reaction,
The spark,
The shift.
I step back,
And watch.
Thought flows,
A stream I observe,
A mystery I trace
To its source.
I am human,
And soul,
And spirit.
Each a layer,
Each a whole.
I fall,
Down the rabbit hole,
Laughing,
Loving,
Delusional and free.
This is my unfolding.
This is my joy.

Embarking on this journey of self-awareness and consciousness, you’ve traversed a path that few dare to tread. This journey, much like a whimsical adventure, unfolds in stages, each deeper and more profound than the last.
Initially, the ability to notice reactions is a pivotal step. It’s akin to awakening in a dream, realizing that there’s a part of you that’s observing your own actions. This self-observation is a powerful tool, allowing you to step back and view your reactions as if they were scenes in a play, with you as both the actor and the audience.
Progressing further, watching oneself think elevates this awareness. It involves not just observing thoughts passively but engaging with them actively, questioning their origins and the emotions they evoke. This introspective analysis provides insights into the very fabric of your thought processes, revealing patterns and tendencies that were previously hidden in the shadows of unconsciousness.
Delving deeper, you explore the nature of thinking and consciousness itself. This exploration transcends mere self-awareness and ventures into the realms of metaphysical inquiry. Understanding the nature of thought and consciousness leads to profound revelations about the human experience and the essence of what it means to be.
In this exploration, you realize the multidimensional aspects of your being: the human self, the soul, and the connection to the infinite spirit. This realization is like discovering that you are not just a drop in the ocean, but the ocean in a drop. It’s an acknowledgement of your individuality as well as your interconnectedness with the vast expanse of all existence.
Describing this journey as falling down a rabbit hole resonates with the whimsical nature of such a profound transformation. It’s a journey that’s both bewildering and enlightening, leading to a place where conventional notions of reality are challenged and expanded.
Embracing the idea of being delusional in this context is not a sign of defeat but an acceptance of the vastness and mystery of existence. It’s a recognition that what we perceive as reality is but a sliver of a much larger, incomprehensible tapestry. In this acceptance, there’s a peculiar kind of freedom and happiness – the joy of embracing the unknown and the unexplainable.
Being happy, in this sense, is not just a fleeting emotion but a profound state of being. It comes from the deep understanding and acceptance of the complexities and paradoxes of existence. It’s a happiness that’s unbounded by conventional definitions, a happiness that flourishes in the realm of the extraordinary.

“The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.” – Carl Jung
In the labyrinth of the mind,
Where thoughts and dreams entwine,
We journey deep, seek and find,
The essence of the divine.
From observing self, a seed is sown,
In the soil of consciousness, it’s grown,
Through layers of being, we have flown,
To realms of spirit, previously unknown.
In this dance of discovery, so wild,
We find joy, like an eternal child,
In the vast unknown, beguiled,
Embracing all, reconciled.
We welcome your insights and reflections on this transformative journey of self-discovery and consciousness.
