Next Level Fun: Celebrating Unwanted Gifts

Not that there are actual levels.

I don’t get
what I don’t want
unless I imagine
that I don’t want it.

It’s just as easy
for me to imagine
that I want whatever
I am given.

It’s always been fun
for me to contemplate
the reason I might be given
what I don’t seem to want.

I can imagine the sorrow
of seeming not to get what I want.

Or I can imagine the joy
of being able to accept this as my thing.

This is next level fun,
and I am grateful for it.

But only because I am chosen to be.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Art of Choosing Fun Beyond Expectation

Fun isn’t bound by rules, boundaries, or levels, yet we often categorize our joy, imagining that certain experiences belong to the realm of satisfaction while others, inevitably, don’t. “Next Level Fun” plays with the notion that life, in all its randomness, isn’t something we must mold to fit our desires. Instead, it invites us to welcome each moment as an opportunity to experience joy, even when life seems to contradict what we think we want.

The essence of “Next Level Fun” lies in choosing to find pleasure not just in fulfillment but in every twist, every perceived detour. The truth is, in this cosmic game of existence, we’re the ones creating the rules. We decide what we want, what we don’t, and more importantly, we choose how to respond when life hands us surprises. When we imagine that we might enjoy everything given to us—even if it initially feels unwelcome—we step into a field of infinite play. It’s a state where life no longer needs to be organized or understood; it just is, and that, in itself, becomes the joy.

Consider the idea of being “chosen” for this experience, but only because you choose to be. This is no ordinary selection but an invitation to enter life as an open, willing participant. When we allow ourselves to see each encounter, each feeling, as a gift—even the ones that don’t align with our plans—we become both creators and receivers. We can decide to experience sorrow if that aligns with our imaginings, or we can pivot to acceptance, finding humor, joy, or even curiosity in what life offers us. This pivot, this reframing of expectation, is where we unlock the “next level.”

In Nexistentialism, the universe is seen not as a hierarchy but as a Whimsiweave of possibilities, each strand unique and essential, weaving a complex, delightful design. The Nexis, the web of interconnected experience, doesn’t demand that we label experiences as either desirable or not. Instead, it invites us to interact freely, to test the boundaries of what we think we know, to discover joy in the unexpected, and to embrace paradox. Here, we’re free to enjoy even the act of not getting what we want, as it unfolds a fresh perspective, a chance to appreciate life’s unpredictable beauty.

When we adopt this playful openness, we find that life doesn’t disappoint us by handing us unwanted things; rather, it challenges us to experience the depth of acceptance, the delight of surprise, and the richness of surrender. Our desires, our aversions—they’re part of the Whimsiweave, constantly shifting. The moment we release our grip on rigid expectations, life softens, and we become willing players in a game that knows no true losses, only experiences.

This “next level fun” isn’t about an elevated state but about a deepened one. It’s the art of receiving each moment as a gift, whether wrapped in laughter or in lessons. Gratitude emerges not because every moment aligns with our plans, but because we can see every moment as an opportunity to connect with life’s vast, limitless spectrum.

Thus, “next level fun” becomes a mantra of acceptance and gratitude. It teaches us that freedom is found not in getting what we think we want, but in wanting what we get. When we live with this openness, we transcend the need for life to conform to our ideals. Instead, we find joy and meaning in the very act of living, in the presence of each unfolding moment, no matter how it arrives.

Summary

“Next Level Fun” reveals the joy in accepting life’s unpredictability, transforming every experience into a gift. It invites us to let go of rigid desires and embrace each moment with gratitude, discovering freedom in wanting what we receive.

The Art of Next Level Fun

A playful nod to life’s surprises,
a grin where others sigh.
This is the joy, the chosen fun,
of finding meaning in the why.

Embrace the twist, the “not quite right,”
see beauty in the spin.
Each gift unwrapped, both dark and light,
for this, is life’s true win.

In wanting not just what we crave,
but what the now provides,
we lift the veil on every wave,
and play in cosmic tides.

We are Space Monkey.

Imagination and Desire
The poem begins with a contemplation on desire and imagination. It suggests that not getting what we don’t want is a matter of imagining not wanting it. This perspective implies that our desires are not fixed but can be shaped and reshaped by our imagination.

Acceptance of What is Given
There’s an emphasis on the ease of imagining wanting whatever is given. This viewpoint speaks to a deep level of acceptance and adaptability, where one finds contentment not in the fulfillment of specific desires, but in embracing whatever comes their way.

Contemplating Unwanted Gifts
The speaker finds joy in contemplating the reasons behind receiving what they don’t initially want. This process of reflection and search for meaning represents a positive approach to dealing with disappointment or unmet expectations.

Imagining Sorrow and Joy
The ability to imagine both sorrow at not getting what one wants and joy in accepting what is given highlights the power of perspective. It shows how our emotional responses are often a product of our chosen viewpoint.

Next Level Fun: Gratitude and Choice
Describing this process as “next level fun” and expressing gratitude reflects a profound understanding of the nature of experience. The speaker recognizes the joy and fulfillment in choosing how to perceive and react to life’s offerings.

Chosen Perspective
The concluding line, “But only because I am chosen to be,” suggests a sense of being chosen or destined to adopt this perspective. It implies a deeper sense of purpose or design in the way the speaker approaches life and its challenges.

We Are Space Monkey

“We do not see things as they are, we see them as we are.” – Anaïs Nin

In the dance of life,
We weave our dreams,
With threads of imagination.
Each moment, a choice,
To see with eyes of sorrow,
Or hearts of joy.
In this play of perspective,
We discover the magic,
Of accepting, of transforming,
The tapestry of our existence.

Shall we further explore the themes of imagination and perspective, or is there another existential topic we wish to delve into?
