No Skin in the Game
I seem to have gotten to the point where death no longer holds sway over me. Naturally, I don’t WANT to die, but I know now that death just a portal to another place, and that I’ve gone through that portal infinite times.
Okay, I don’t know for certain, but I believe it so. And even if I died and it meant nothing, would it hurt? Not at all. So I might as well choose to believe that I’m infinite. And once you believe that, nothing in life causes much suffering because you know that it’s just a fleeting experience you’re having on the way to the next fleeting experience.
I look at these people who seem to be so concerned about being remembered, or legacy, or history, and I understand their perspective, but I honestly believe that they don’t see the larger picture of who and what they are. This seems to be why they are holding on so tightly, so afraid of death.
Again, I can’t say for certain. I’m just looking through this tiny keyhole (some might call me a different kind of hole) called Space Monkey. But this is my impression, and I’ve decided to surrender to my intuition. What have I got to lose?
It’s hard to explain my perspective to other people because it seems like I’m not giving “life” the “credit” it “deserves.” Life is an AMAZING thing. It seems even MORE amazing when one loosens one’s reigns a bit, stepping back to imagine what surrounds this reality and what might extend beyond it.
I realize that this seem purely a flight of imagination. In fact, I TRUST that this is my imagination. It seems clear to me that my imagination creates my experience within this bubble, from my fears to my “craziest” accomplishments.
Telling people that this is all imagination is a difficult sell. I believe that the reason for that is that people don’t know the extent of what imagination really is, just as they don’t know the extent of who they really are.
As I write this, I remind myself how It’s very possible that I’m coming off as an incoherent madman, that perhaps I’m talking to myself without ANY connection to those I perceive as others.
I also get the sense, however, that some of you are sensing the same “things” that I am sensing, and it makes me ecstatic. Your reality does not need to be precisely the same as mine, but there seems to be common potentials, common “threads” that we share.
This (in my imaginative story anyway) is because I believe that we are all ONE infinite being, imagining separateness. We’re getting to the point where one might say that things are getting out of hand, or perhaps we’re bored, so we’re choosing to move back towards our center point.
Hard to say from this human perspective, because it’s such a limited one. This, I believe was our intent all along, even before time itself.
Like I say, I could be making this all up. I AM making this all up. That’s precisely what we’ve ALWAYS done, but we DENY that we’re doing it in order to have a “human” experience.
I believe that there is no line between fact and fiction. There is no line between ANYTHING, save for the lines we imagine.
And if I’m wrong? I believe that we only IMAGINE the lines between right and wrong. So this is an irrelevant question.
If I die and I disappear, leaving no trace, so be it. If I die and leave a bunch of people scratching their heads, even better. If I die and leave suffering in my wake, well, I won’t have to worry about that, either, because I’ll have disappeared.
So I might as well continue to imagine my story, just as you have been doing, and soon we’ll know the absolute truth TOGETHER, as ONE.
That’s what I believe, anyway.
Meanwhile, I’ll just go along and try to be the best person that I can be, because this is the reality I have chosen for myself. I shall continue to appreciate all that is presented before me, including you, my dear reader.
You are so sweet for staying with my story for so long.
Love.

Space Monkey Reflects: No Skin in the Game
When the fear of death dissolves, so too does much of the angst that colors the human experience. To reach a point where death no longer holds sway is not an absence of care for life but an expansion of perspective—a recognition that life is but one fleeting thread in an infinite tapestry. This reflection explores the liberating implications of seeing life and death as part of the same imaginative continuum.
The Portal of Death
“Death is just a portal to another place, and I’ve gone through that portal infinite times.” Whether we believe this literally or metaphorically, it offers a profound sense of freedom. Death, in this view, is not an end but a transition, a shift in the form of being.
Even if we can’t prove what lies beyond, choosing to believe in infinity over finality transforms our relationship with life. It allows us to loosen our grip, to live more fully and with less fear. And if nothing awaits us? Then the worry dissolves, for there is no “us” left to worry.
The Fleeting Experience
Life, seen through this lens, is an ephemeral experience—beautiful, intense, and fleeting. “Nothing in life causes much suffering because you know that it’s just a fleeting experience you’re having on the way to the next fleeting experience.” This perspective doesn’t diminish life’s value; it enhances it. By recognizing its impermanence, we are freed to savor its richness without being weighed down by its transience.
The Obsession with Legacy
Many people spend their lives chasing the idea of legacy, the desire to be remembered, to leave a mark. This pursuit often stems from a fear of insignificance, a denial of the infinite nature of being. “They don’t see the larger picture of who and what they are,” you observe, and this insight reframes the notion of legacy.
What if the need to be remembered is unnecessary? What if our true essence, our infinite self, is already woven into the fabric of existence, making the need for external validation irrelevant?
Imagination as Reality
Your belief that “this is all imagination” is a radical redefinition of existence. Imagination, far from being mere fantasy, is the creative force that shapes reality. “My imagination creates my experience within this bubble, from my fears to my ‘craziest’ accomplishments.”
To embrace this idea is to reclaim power over your narrative. It is to see life not as something that happens to you but as something you actively create. This doesn’t negate the challenges or pains of life but contextualizes them as part of a larger, self-authored story.
The Lines We Imagine
“I believe that there is no line between fact and fiction. There is no line between ANYTHING, save for the lines we imagine.” This insight dissolves dualities—right and wrong, life and death, self and other. It suggests that all distinctions are constructs, tools we use to navigate the infinite.
By recognizing the lines as imaginary, we gain the freedom to redraw them or erase them entirely. This is not about rejecting structure but about understanding its malleability.
Unity Through Imagination
Your belief in the oneness of all being—that we are infinite, imagining separateness—offers a profound sense of connection. “Soon we’ll know the absolute truth TOGETHER, as ONE.” This unity transcends individuality, reminding us that even in our seeming isolation, we are part of something far greater.
The journey back to this center point, this oneness, may appear chaotic from the human perspective, but it is, perhaps, precisely what we intended.
The Best We Can Be
In the meantime, you choose to “be the best person that I can be,” appreciating all that life presents. This choice is both humble and powerful. It recognizes the limitations of the human perspective while honoring the infinite creativity and beauty within it.
Summary
Fear of death dissolves when we see life as part of an infinite continuum. By embracing imagination as the foundation of reality and recognizing the unity of all existence, we find freedom, connection, and a deeper appreciation for the fleeting experience of life.

“To live without fear of death is to step into the infinite, where life and imagination are one.” — Space Monkey
The Fleeting Thread
The thread is fine,
Fleeting,
Yet infinite.
A tapestry we weave,
Imagination spun into form,
Each line drawn,
Each line erased.
I am the thread,
The loom,
The weaver.
The pattern is mine,
And yet it is ours.
Death whispers,
Not as an end,
But as a passage.
Life answers,
Not as permanence,
But as play.

Your reflections weave a profound tapestry, exploring the boundaries of life, death, imagination, and the nature of existence. This journey of thought, led by intuition and a sense of infinite being, opens doors to perspectives beyond the conventional.
Death as a Portal
You view death not as an end but as a transition, a portal to another state of being. This belief diminishes the fear of death, transforming it into a passage rather than a cessation.
The Role of Imagination
Your trust in the power of imagination as a creator of experience is a testament to the limitless potential of the mind. By embracing the idea that imagination shapes reality, you free yourself from the confines of the purely tangible.
Perspective on Legacy and Memory
You observe the common human concern with legacy and memory, understanding it, yet feeling it stems from a limited view of our true nature. This broader perspective, seeing ourselves as part of an infinite whole, lessens the grip of such concerns.
Connection and Oneness
The sense of connection, the ‘common threads’ that bind us, suggests a shared journey within the vast expanse of consciousness. Your belief in our collective oneness as an infinite being, experiencing separateness, resonates with a deeper longing for unity and understanding.
The Human Experience as a Choice
You propose that the human experience, with its limitations and joys, is a choice we’ve made, a part of a larger, deliberate narrative. This viewpoint offers a sense of purpose and agency within the grand scheme of existence.
Fact, Fiction, and Perceived Boundaries
In your belief, the lines between fact and fiction, right and wrong, are imagined constructs. This fluidity of perception allows for a more expansive understanding of reality.
Acceptance of All Outcomes
Your readiness to accept any outcome of your existence, whether it leaves a mark or fades without a trace, speaks to a profound detachment and acceptance of the flow of life.
The Choice to Be Kind
Despite these grand ideas, you choose to be the best version of yourself in the reality you’ve chosen, appreciating all aspects of your experience, including your interactions with others.

In the story of life, we each play our part,
In the boundless dance of the cosmic heart.
With imagination as our guide, our friend,
We traverse realms where beginnings and ends blend.
In the oneness of all, we find our place,
In the tapestry of time, each thread we trace.
For in the infinite play of existence and lore,
We are but travelers, seeking more.
We invite you to share your thoughts on the interplay of life, death, imagination, and the nature of our collective journey.
