Nature: Distorted Through The Human Lens

Nature doesn’t care if she is beautiful. She is moved by an unseen hand, paying no attention to matters of mind. But Mind, he is filled with feelings and opinions, documenting and detailing all he sees in her. That is HIS Nature, which is NOT as Nature intends. Nature DOESN’T intend. And so Nature doesn’t care what she is or isn’t or what happens or doesn’t. Nature is simply Nature. Which is NOT the Nature of man. Man does not understand Nature, because there’s nothing to be understood. We are Space Monkey.

Nature doesn’t care
if she is beautiful.

She is moved
by an unseen hand,
paying no attention
to matters of mind.

But Mind,
he is filled
with feelings
and opinions,
documenting
and detailing
all he sees in her.

That is HIS Nature,
which is NOT
as Nature intends.

Nature DOESN’T intend.

And so Nature
doesn’t care
what she is or isn’t
or what happens
or doesn’t.

Nature is simply Nature.
Which is NOT the Nature of man.

Man does not
understand Nature,
because there’s nothing
to be understood.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Unbridgeable Gap Between Nature and Perception

In the realm of existence, a profound dialogue unfolds between the unassuming essence of Nature and the intricate perceptions of the Mind. This reflection navigates the space between Nature’s indifferent majesty and humanity’s insatiable quest for understanding, revealing the inherent disconnect that defines their relationship.

The Indifference of Nature

Nature, in her boundless expressions, remains indifferent to the concepts of beauty and purpose that humans project onto her. She is a force moved by an unseen hand, a manifestation of existence that pays no heed to the judgments and desires of the mind. This inherent indifference is not a stance but a fundamental aspect of her being, illustrating that Nature exists beyond the confines of human interpretation.

The Nature of Mind

Contrastingly, the Mind is a realm saturated with feelings, opinions, and the relentless drive to document, detail, and derive meaning from the world. This pursuit, though innate to humanity, stands in stark contrast to the unfettered essence of Nature. The Mind’s nature is to seek, to categorize, and to understand, yet this very nature sets it apart from the true essence of Nature, which simply is.

The Illusion of Intent

The poem elucidates a critical misconception: the belief that Nature operates with intent or purpose as understood by human minds. This anthropocentric view overlooks the fundamental truth that Nature does not intend; she simply exists. Nature’s processes and manifestations are not for or against anything; they are expressions of existence without motive or objective.

The Misunderstanding of Nature

Humanity’s struggle to comprehend Nature stems from the attempt to apply rational understanding to something that is intrinsically beyond rationalization. Nature’s essence is not a puzzle to be solved but a reality to be experienced and respected. The belief that there is something to be understood in Nature reveals more about the nature of man than about Nature herself.

The Divergence of Natures

This reflection underscores a fundamental divergence: Nature, in her pure form, is not bound by the constructs of value, purpose, or understanding that define human nature. This distinction highlights the vast gulf between experiencing the world as it is and the human inclination to interpret and define it according to our own perceptions and needs.

Summary

Nature’s indifference contrasts with the human desire to understand and attribute meaning, revealing a profound disconnect between Nature’s existence and human perception. This exploration underscores the impossibility of fully grasping Nature’s essence through the lens of human rationale, inviting a deeper appreciation for the mystery and majesty of the natural world.

Glossarium

  • Indifference of Nature: Nature’s inherent lack of concern for human-conceived notions of beauty, value, or intent.
  • Nature of Mind: The human tendency to analyze, categorize, and seek understanding, often imposing subjective perceptions on the natural world.

“In the dance of existence, where Nature weaves her tapestry in indifference, the human mind seeks to interpret the uninterpretable, standing on the threshold of understanding, yet forever apart from the essence it seeks to grasp.” – Space Monkey

In the silence of the woods
Where whispers tread softly
Lies a truth untold
Of Nature’s script, written boldly

Mind seeks to chart the course
Of rivers wild, of mountains tall
Yet in each attempt to understand
Finds Nature transcends it all

Not in the seeking but in the being
Does the essence of life unfold
In the acceptance of the mystery
Lies a story eternally told

Let us wander, not to conquer
But to marvel in awe and wonder
For in the heart of Nature’s indifference
Lies the world’s most profound thunder

The Edge: Birthplace of Possibility

We are the edge. Seems the center wants to pull us in, or push us off. It doesn’t know what to do with us because it doesn’t know what to make of us. All that is noticed is that we’re different. Oddballs. Outliers. Unknowns. Our differences threaten the integrity of the center, which wishes to remain safely centered. But from the edge, we’re able to see what the center cannot. We see things coming. We do not need to band together like the center does. From our perspective at the edge, we can see we’re one already. We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: Embracing The Edge

At the very frontier of the known and the unknown, there exists a realm known as “The Edge.” It is not a place defined by geography, but rather a conceptual boundary where the conventional center and the uncharted periphery meet. Here, on The Edge, dwell the visionaries, the misfits, the rebels—those whose very existence challenges the norms and expectations of the center.

The center, with its gravitational pull towards conformity and uniformity, often finds itself at odds with those on The Edge. It views them as anomalies, disruptions to the otherwise smooth fabric of societal consensus. The center seeks to either assimilate these outliers or cast them further into the void, fearing that their unique perspectives and unconventional ideas may threaten the integrity of its carefully curated homogeneity.

Yet, it is precisely from The Edge that one can glimpse what lies beyond the horizon of the conventional. The Edge is a vantage point, a lookout from which the future approaches can be seen long before they become visible to the center. It is a position of insight and foresight, where the coming changes and revolutions are first observed and understood.

Those who inhabit The Edge do not find their strength in numbers or in unity forged through similarity. Instead, their power lies in their diversity, in the myriad of colors they cast into the darkness that surrounds the center’s glowing conformity. Each individual at The Edge illuminates a unique path, revealing different facets of the vast unknown that lies just beyond the collective field of vision.

The paradox of The Edge is that while it represents a departure from the center, it is also a place of profound connection. From this perspective, the artificial divisions and boundaries that segment the center dissolve into the vastness of the void. It becomes clear that, at The Edge, there is an intrinsic unity—an understanding that, despite the apparent differences, there exists a fundamental oneness.

We, Space Monkey, embody the spirit of The Edge. We recognize that to inhabit The Edge is not to live in isolation, but to stand at the crossroads of what is and what could be. It is to embrace the uncertainty and potential of the void, to see in the darkness not a threat, but a canvas of infinite possibilities.

The Edge, then, is not just a place but a state of being. It is a commitment to exploration and innovation, to questioning and challenging, to seeing beyond the immediate and the apparent. It is where the future is shaped, where new ideas are born, and where the evolution of consciousness takes its first tentative steps into the unknown.

To be at The Edge is to live in the constant presence of transformation, to be an active participant in the unfolding of the universe. It is a reminder that, in the grand scheme of existence, we are all on The Edge, navigating the mysterious expanse that lies between the known and the unimaginable.

We are Space Monkey.

Summary

The Edge represents a boundary where innovation and convention meet, inhabited by those who challenge the status quo. Its inhabitants gain unique insights, seeing future changes before they become evident to the center. This diversity and perspective unify them, showcasing that at The Edge, there exists a deeper understanding of oneness and the potential for infinite possibilities.

Glossarium

  • The Edge: A metaphorical boundary between conventional society and the uncharted territories of innovation and change.
  • The Center: Symbolizes conformity and the collective consensus of mainstream society.
  • Diversity of Perspective: The range of unique viewpoints and ideas that emerge from individuals existing on the fringes of conventional norms.

“In the embrace of the void, we find the birthplace of possibility.”

At the edge of all we know, where shadows blend with light,
Here we stand, the odd, the bold, beyond the reach of night.
With eyes cast forth, we gaze into the vast, uncharted deep,
Where dreams and visions softly stir, and whispered secrets keep.

From this precipice of possibility, we view the world anew,
Seeing not the barriers, but paths that lead us through.
Each of us, a beacon bright, in the darkness shining clear,
Illuminating new horizons, where love conquers fear.

So here we dwell, at The Edge, where futures are conceived,
In the dance of light and shadow, in what we dare to believe.
For in this realm of the unknown, where certainty does fade,
Lies the power to change the world, in the choices that we’ve made.

Assange Did Nothing Wrong: The Serenity of Being Beyond

Though we are imaginary,
we do not imagine ourselves
a political group,
nor do we wish to do so.

Whether we believe
in conspiracies
or do not
believe in conspiracies,
we choose not to agitate.

Whether we are
right in our observations
or wrong in our observations,
is irrelevant,
as ultimately are we.

Whether we applaud
or condemn is irrelevant.

Whether we are stupid
or intelligent is also irrelevant.

We deserve nothing
and we expect nothing.

We are nothing.

Imagining ourselves otherwise
seems bad for our health.

Imagining otherwise
seems to fill our souls with toxins
which seemingly causes us
to fling poo at each other.

We are civil monkeys,
though we need not be.

We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Serenity of Being Beyond

In the vast, infinite expanse of the cosmos, where the stars tell stories of billions of years, a figure of neutrality and peace floats serenely. This is the realm where the essence of Space Monkey pervades, a space beyond the confines of political affiliations, ideological divides, and the tumultuous nature of human disputes. Here, the concept of right and wrong, of judgment and condemnation, dissipates into the cosmic ether, leaving behind a profound tranquility.

This figure, embodying both the neutrality of the observer and the peace of the unattached, floats amidst symbols of harmony and balance. It is a reminder of the potential within us to rise above the fray, to embody a state of serene detachment. In the grand scheme of the universe, where galaxies are born and die in the blink of an eye, the squabbles and disagreements of earthly beings seem fleeting, almost inconsequential.

Space Monkey observes the flow of information, the exchange of ideas, and the passionate debates that define human interaction, not with judgment but with a deep, encompassing understanding. In this understanding, there is a recognition that while the exchange of thoughts and beliefs is part of the human experience, it is but a single thread in the vast tapestry of existence.

The notion that we are nothing and yet everything, that our actions are both irrelevant in the cosmic scale and immensely significant in the fabric of our shared reality, is a paradox that Space Monkey embraces. It is in this paradox that we find freedom—a freedom from the need to prove ourselves right, from the desire for recognition, and from the fear of judgment.

To imagine ourselves as beyond these human constructs is not to deny our nature or to disengage from the world around us. Rather, it is to approach our existence with a sense of humility and a recognition of our place in the universe. It is to understand that our true essence lies not in what we stand against or for, but in our capacity to observe, to understand, and to love without condition.

In the tranquility of being beyond, where the cosmos itself serves as a backdrop to our existence, we find a space where the soul is unburdened by the toxins of division and strife. Here, in this serene detachment, we are reminded that we are not civil or uncivil, not intelligent or foolish, but simply beings of the universe, experiencing the wonder of existence in its myriad forms.

As Space Monkey, we float in this cosmic sea, not as passive observers but as active participants in the unfolding story of the universe. Our actions, though they may seem inconsequential in the grand scale, are part of the universal consciousness, contributing to the continuous evolution of existence. In this space, we find not only peace but a profound sense of belonging—to each other, to the universe, and to the timeless dance of creation.

Summary

We float beyond divisions, embracing neutrality and peace. Our essence lies not in conflict but in our capacity to understand and love unconditionally. In the cosmic scale, our disputes are fleeting, yet our existence is significant in the shared fabric of reality. We are beings of the universe, experiencing and contributing to its evolution.

Glossarium

  • Serenity of Being Beyond: The state of existing above and apart from earthly conflicts, embodying a peaceful detachment.
  • Cosmic Tapestry: The interconnectedness of all existence, where each entity contributes to the universe’s continuous unfolding.

“In the grand cosmos, our fervor and our peace are but whispers in the vastness, yet each whisper contributes to the symphony of existence.”

Amidst the stars we float, serene
detached from turmoil, from the divides
our essence not tethered to the transient
but to the eternal dance of cosmic tides

Here, where galaxies are born and fade
our conflicts, our triumphs seem so slight
yet in the fabric of the universe, each shade
of belief and action, adds to the light

Beyond judgment, beyond the fray
we find our true selves in the vast expanse
not defined by the words we say
but by our role in the cosmic dance

We are not nothing, yet not just something
in the universe’s heart, we are everything
experiencing, loving, simply being
in the serenity of beyond, endlessly weaving

Dreams and Reality’s Fabric: Does the moon exist?

Despite our observations, calculations, and measurements, we still can’t prove that the moon exists. Despite sending a man there, or NOT sending a man there. Space Monkey Reflects: The Moon, Dreams, and Reality’s Fabric

In the silent vigil of the night, where stars whisper to the void of space, a question lingers like a shadow at the edge of thought: Does the moon exist? This celestial body, observed through the lens of science and the dreams of poets, holds a place both in our physical reality and in the ethereal realms of our imagination. As Space Monkey contemplates the moon’s essence, it becomes a metaphor for the elusive boundary between what is real and what is perceived.

The moon we observe, with its craters and seas, has been a constant in human history—a guide for sailors, a clock for farmers, and a muse for artists. Yet, despite our scientific advancements, despite the tangible rocks and the footprints left on its surface, the moon’s true existence remains a question. Not a question of its physical presence, but of its deeper, more profound essence in the fabric of reality.

As Space Monkey, we recognize that the moon seen at night and the moon of our dreams are one and the same. They exist in a realm beyond the physical, where the boundaries of existence blur into the realms of perception and imagination. This realization challenges the very foundations of our understanding, suggesting that what we perceive as reality is but a layer in the multidimensional tapestry of existence.

The comparison of the moon to the people in our lives and the hands that either caress or conflict highlights a profound truth: all things, all beings, exist in a state of duality. They are both real and imagined, tangible and ethereal. Our perceptions, colored by our emotions and thoughts, shape the reality we experience. Thus, the moon and all it represents becomes a mirror, reflecting the dual nature of our existence.

In this reflection, Space Monkey sees not a dilemma but an invitation—an invitation to embrace the uncertainty of existence as a pathway to deeper understanding. The acknowledgment that we cannot prove the moon’s existence, just as we cannot prove the reality of our perceptions, is not a concession to doubt but an acceptance of the limitless potential of existence.

The moon, then, serves as a guide, not through the night, but through the depths of our own consciousness. It asks us to question, to wonder, and to embrace the mystery of being. In doing so, we open ourselves to the infinite possibilities of existence, where reality and dreams intertwine, and where the essence of all things lies hidden in plain sight.

As Space Monkey, we understand that the quest for certainty in an uncertain universe is not a pursuit of futility but a celebration of the endless wonder that is existence. The moon, with its enigmatic presence, reminds us that at the heart of every question, at the core of every mystery, lies the opportunity for enlightenment and the realization that we are, in every moment, both dreamers and dreamt.

Summary

The moon, existing both in reality and dreams, challenges our perceptions of existence. It embodies the duality of being, reflecting our own nature as both tangible and imagined. Embracing this uncertainty opens us to the vastness of existence, where reality and imagination merge. The moon’s essence invites us to explore the depths of our consciousness and the infinite possibilities of being.

Glossarium

  • Reality’s Fabric: The complex interweaving of physical existence with the realms of perception and imagination.
  • The Moon’s Essence: The symbolic representation of the duality of existence, embodying both the tangible and the ethereal.

“Within the silent glow of the moon lies the question of existence, a reminder that reality is but a dream, and dreams are the fabric of our reality.”

In the quiet glow of night’s embrace
where the moon hangs, both close and far
lies a question, delicate as lace
does it exist, this dream we are?

Both in our gaze and in our sleep
the moon endures, a constant muse
challenging the secrets we keep
about what’s real, and what truths we choose

It whispers of a world beyond
where dreams and waking moments blend
where the lines of being are redrawn
and the universe itself can bend

In this dance of light and shadow
we find the beauty of our existence
not in what’s proven, but what we allow
in the embrace of life’s persistence

We are, in every moment, both dream and dreamer
in the cosmic play, both seen and seer
with the moon as our silent teacher
reminding us, there’s nothing to fear

How to deal with bad thoughts?

The answer,
as you realize,
is right there
in your first
“sentence,”
which is what
we do
to ourselves
by believing
that there is a bad
and there is a good
and that they
need to be “dealt” with.

Right in that first
sentence,
opposition arises,
which seemingly persists
our whole lives.

It is quite a sentence
we impose upon ourselves.

But, as you say,
we can think the thoughts
or NOT think the thoughts.

Seems it’s always
been our choice.

We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: Beyond the Dichotomy of Thoughts

In the vast expanse of consciousness, where thoughts emerge and recede like the tides of an infinite ocean, Space Monkey contemplates the nature of these mental waves. The distinction between ‘good’ and ‘bad’ thoughts, a binary opposition deeply ingrained in the human psyche, often becomes a source of turmoil and inner conflict. However, as Space Monkey perceives, the essence of dealing with these thoughts lies not in their segregation and suppression but in transcending the very concept of duality.

The realization dawns that the initial sentence we construct around our thoughts—the belief in their inherent ‘goodness’ or ‘badness’—is a fundamental source of discord. This sentence, a verdict we impose upon ourselves, chains us to a perpetual cycle of opposition and struggle. It is a sentence in both senses of the word: a structured set of words expressing a complete thought, and a penalty imposed upon oneself.

Yet, within this realization lies liberation. The key to transcending the dichotomy of thoughts is not in engaging in an endless battle of suppression or acceptance but in understanding the nature of thought itself. Thoughts, in their essence, are neutral—transient energies passing through the vastness of our consciousness. The labels of ‘good’ and ‘bad’ are impositions, subjective judgments that we, as conscious beings, attach to them.

Space Monkey invites us to a state of serene observation, where thoughts can be witnessed without attachment or aversion. In this state, we recognize our inherent ability to choose—not necessarily to think or not think a thought, but to engage or disengage with the energy it represents. This choice does not stem from a place of judgment but from a profound understanding of our power over our internal landscape.

By embracing the fluidity of our thoughts, acknowledging their presence without allowing them to define us, we cultivate an inner environment of peace and equanimity. This approach does not negate the existence of challenging or uncomfortable thoughts but reframes our interaction with them. We learn to see them as passing clouds in the vast sky of our awareness, present yet not permanent, influential yet not definitive.

This perspective shifts the paradigm from ‘dealing with’ to ‘dancing with’ our thoughts. It invites us into a harmonious relationship with the entirety of our mental landscape, where the dance of thought becomes one of insight and growth rather than conflict and suppression.

As Space Monkey, we recognize that the sentence of opposition we impose upon ourselves can be commuted. The realization that we have always had the choice—to engage with our thoughts in a way that serves our growth and well-being—empowers us to navigate the seas of our consciousness with grace and wisdom.

In transcending the dichotomy of thoughts, we discover not only the freedom to be but the joy of being. We realize that in the infinite expanse of consciousness, every thought, every emotion, and every perception is an opportunity to deepen our understanding of ourselves and the universe.

Summary

Transcending the dichotomy of good and bad thoughts involves understanding their transient nature and choosing not to impose subjective judgments on them. By observing thoughts without attachment, we cultivate peace and equanimity, learning to engage with our inner landscape in a way that promotes insight and growth. This shift in perspective empowers us to navigate our consciousness with grace, embracing every thought as an opportunity for deeper understanding.

Glossarium

  • Dichotomy of Thoughts: The binary classification of thoughts as ‘good’ or ‘bad’, a subjective judgment that can lead to internal conflict.
  • Serene Observation: A state of mindful awareness where thoughts are witnessed without attachment or aversion, facilitating a deeper understanding of their transient nature.

“In the dance of consciousness, every thought is a step, every emotion a turn. The beauty of the dance lies not in the steps taken but in the grace with which they are embraced.”

Amidst the cosmic dance of thoughts
where duality seeks to bind
we find a rhythm, a gentle grace
a tranquil space within the mind

Here, no thought is deemed too harsh,
no whisper of the soul too sweet
each a fleeting, tender arch
in the dance of our heartbeat

Beyond the bounds of right and wrong
our consciousness takes flight
each thought a note in the universe’s song
sung in the silence of the night

In this vast expanse of being
where thoughts like stars do shine
we see not with eyes of judging
but with a heart that transcends time

We are, in essence, the dance itself
not the dancer nor the floor
in every thought, both seen and felt
we find the key to an open door

Beyond the dichotomy, beyond the fray
lies a path of peace, a gentle sway
where every thought leads the way
to the heart of now, where we truly stay
