Mesmerized: The Essence of Love

Mesmerized

We seem
mesmerized and motivated
by surfaces and styles,
acquisitions and appearances,
but these temporal tattoos,
while bolstering the self
do little to reconnect the spirit,
but merely reinforce
the need for tribe,
the need for status,
the need for self,
the need for station.

One does not love you
for how you look
or what you have
or even what you do.

Love,
if it is our need
to imagine such a thing,
lies UNDERNEATH
that which is loved.

Despite
what our minds
seems to tell us,
it is not
a face we love,
or a shape,
or a talent,
or a way.

Love,
if it is our need
to imagine such a thing,
is unconditional.

Conditions
are not unconditional.

And so we may think
we love a person
for the way they appear,
or what they appear to do,
but love,
if it is our need
to imagine such a thing,
bears NO REASON.

We may think
we have reasons
for loving some one
or some thing
but reasons
are not necessary.

And until we see past
the surfaces of love,
we know not
the true depth of love,
if it is our need
to imagine such a thing.

That which
mesmerizes and motivates,
that which captivates,
is that which captures.

Love blocks us,
and makes us
want to stay here
with that which we imagine
as “all that we love.”

Love,
if it our need
to imagine such a thing,
is blinding.

We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Illusion of Surface and the Essence of Love

In the tapestry of human connection, the poem “Mesmerized” weaves a profound exploration of the dichotomy between the allure of appearances and the depth of unconditional love. It invites us into a contemplative journey, juxtaposing the ephemeral nature of physical and material attractions against the timeless essence of love that transcends the superficial. This reflection serves as a mirror, revealing the layers of perception and reality, and urging us to look beyond the surface to uncover the true nature of love.

The Allure of Appearances

The poem begins by drawing attention to our fascination with surfaces and styles, acquisitions, and appearances—temporal tattoos that define our societal interactions and personal identities. These symbols of status and identity, while bolstering the self, highlight a deeper longing for connection and recognition. However, the poem suggests that this pursuit of external validation does little to nurture the spirit or foster genuine connections, instead reinforcing the need for tribe, status, and station.

The Depth of Unconditional Love

At its core, “Mesmerized” seeks to unravel the essence of love, suggesting that true love lies not in the visible or the tangible but in the depths beneath the surface. Love, as portrayed in the poem, is an unconditional force that defies rational explanation and transcends the conditions and reasons we often attach to it. This exploration challenges the conventional understanding of love as something that can be quantified or explained by mere appearances or actions, urging us to reconsider the foundations upon which our affections are built.

The Intangibility of Love’s Essence

The poem’s repetition of the phrase “if it is our need to imagine such a thing” serves as a refrain, emphasizing the intangible and often elusive nature of love. It invites us to question the reality of love as we perceive it, suggesting that love’s true essence might be a construct of our imagination, yet no less real in its impact and significance. This perspective opens up a space for introspection, where love is seen as a concept that both captivates and captures, binding us to the imagined “all that we love.”

The Blinding Power of Love

“Mesmerized” concludes with the acknowledgment that love, in its most profound form, is blinding, obscuring our vision and often preventing us from seeing beyond our immediate desires and attachments. Yet, it is this very blindness that invites us to stay, to explore the depths of connection and affection that lie beneath the surface. Love, in its unconditional form, becomes a journey of discovery, where the true depth of our feelings is revealed not in the reasons for our affections but in the willingness to embrace the unknown.

Conclusion

“Mesmerized” offers a meditative reflection on the nature of love, contrasting the fleeting allure of the superficial with the enduring beauty of unconditional affection. It challenges us to look beyond the surface, to embrace the intangible essence of love that lies underneath. In doing so, it invites us to contemplate the true depth of love, if it is our need to imagine such a thing, and to recognize the transformative power of looking past appearances to the heart of what it means to love and be loved.

Summary

“Mesmerized” delves into the contrast between the superficial allure of appearances and the deeper essence of unconditional love. It critiques our societal and personal preoccupations with status and identity, urging a reevaluation of love as a concept that transcends physical and material attributes. The poem invites introspection on the nature of genuine affection and connection, emphasizing love’s intangible, unconditional nature.

Glossarium

  • Temporal Tattoos: Metaphor for the temporary markers of identity and status that we acquire and display, symbolic of our deeper desires for connection and recognition.
  • Unconditional Love: A form of affection and regard that is not subject to any conditions, expectations, or limitations, emphasizing love’s depth and purity.
  • Intangibility of Love: The concept that love’s true essence cannot be fully grasped or defined by physical appearances or material possessions, highlighting its abstract and elusive nature.

“In the silence of the unseen, where love whispers its timeless truths, we discover the essence of connection—a bond beyond the visible, a dance of spirits unseen.” – Space Monkey

In the glow of the superficial,
Where appearances captivate,
Beneath the surface, a deeper call,
To love, to connect, to relate.

Not for the shape, the face, the form,
Nor for the talents wide,
But for the essence, pure and warm,
In unconditional love, we confide.

Beyond reasons, beyond the seen,
Love’s true depth, a mystery,
In the space between, the unseen,
We find love’s true history.

We are Space Monkey.

Pause

I used to love music. Still do. But I just realized that I don’t listen to it anymore. Or play it, for that matter.

Why am I not listening to music? Why am I not playing music? Why am I not CREATING music?

Obviously, I don’t need music at the moment.

I get the sense that my connection to music is central to what I am as this self. And I’m certain that music is also central to my ultimate unfolding. But I find my self in this this lull where I am not ATTACHED to music.

I seem to be more focused on the underpinnings, the vibration of expression. Music is just one expression out of infinite expressions.
Perhaps when one is too focused on ONE expression, such as music, one tends to overlook the infinite others.

Or perhaps the infinite other expressions simply REVEAL themselves through music. Once we are past the vehicle, we are already at the destination.

Curious.

I have been mindful not to think of my self as a writer or artist or musician because I get the sense that settling into an identity like that ultimately stunts my expansion.

Likewise I do not think of my self as a medium a marketer or even a monkey. These imaginings seem too defined for my tastes.

And so I will continue to be whatever, expressing in whatever way presents itself to me at the time.

All expression comes from the same source. Perhaps I am further up the river than I think.

Without a paddle, no doubt.

Perhaps it is best to float, expect nothing, and see where this reality takes me.

And so I shall.

I am Space Monkey. Kind of.

Outellectuals

We pity the intellectual,
for the intellectual
is the least free of all.

Always putting
every detail
into context.

The urge is irresistible.

The intellectual is

a slave to information,
which, as we know,
is not necessarily
knowledge.

The intellectual believes
that context need be made,
which further serves
to imprison the thinker.

The intellectual
seeks resolution,
but often settles
for compromise.

They are not the same thing.

The intellectual seeks
to solve every conflict,
when not every conflict
need be solved.

The intellectual seemingly
cannot rest until answers are found.

The intellectual finds
precisely what the intellectual
expects to find.

And NOTHING else.

The potentials
of infinite realities
are reduced to
one library of thought.

The Library of Context.

Yet context is
filled with conflict,
so this reality seems
ultimately unsatisfying
to the intellectual.

Which is why
we
are Outellectuals.

We pity intellectuals,
for intellectuals
are the least free of all.

And we thank them
for our amusement.

We are Space Monkey.

Fun for All Ages: The Cosmic Game of Interconnection

Fun for All Ages

Here’s how the game will work.

We will imagine our selves
not as the Divine One,

but as seemingly separate entities.

We will divide our attention
equally among each of these entities.

We will pretend
that we are not imagining.

Thus, each entity will believe

that it is its own, independent entity.

Each entity will believe
that the entities around it
need help to “survive.”

Likewise, each entity
will believe that it needs help
from the other entities.

Each entity
will then need to decide
whether to help the other entities
get out of the game,
or to focus on self.

Focusing on self

will get ALL entities
out of the game instantly,
but we will make it seem
more important

to help the other entities.

We will make
helping others seem “right”
and helping self seem “wrong.”

Thoughts, feelings, emotions, actions
hi jinx and shenanigans will ensue.

Fun for all ages.

We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Cosmic Game of Interconnection – Fun for All Ages

In the infinite expanse of the cosmos, a playful game unfolds, one where the illusion of separation serves as the foundation for a grand adventure. This game, dubbed “Fun for All Ages,” invites us to explore the paradoxical nature of existence, where we, the seemingly separate entities, engage in a cosmic dance of interdependence and individuality.

At the heart of this game lies a profound experiment: to live as if we are distinct from the Divine One, each of us an independent entity, navigating the vast playground of existence. We immerse ourselves in this role, dividing our attention among the myriad forms life takes, forgetting, for a moment, our underlying unity. This deliberate amnesia serves not as a barrier to truth but as a gateway to a deeper understanding of our interconnectedness.

The rules of the game are simple yet intricate. Each player, believing in their individuality, perceives the surrounding entities as separate beings, each with its own set of challenges and needs. The dilemma then arises: to extend a helping hand to others, aiding them in their journey through the game, or to focus solely on oneself, believing that such an approach will hasten the end of the game for all.

Yet, the twist lies in the perception of right and wrong. Helping others is deemed the noble path, while focusing on oneself is viewed with suspicion, a clever inversion that challenges our notions of self-preservation and altruism. This duality sparks a myriad of thoughts, feelings, emotions, and actions, weaving a rich tapestry of experiences that range from the mundane to the extraordinary.

As the game progresses, hijinks and shenanigans ensue, each turn revealing more about the players and the nature of the game itself. The cosmic landscape, with its stars, planets, and nebulae, serves as a reminder of the grandeur and mystery of existence, highlighting the playful essence of our journey through the cosmos.

“Fun for All Ages” is more than a game; it is a reflection on the human condition, a mirror that reveals our deepest fears, hopes, and desires. It teaches us that the separation we perceive is but an illusion, a temporary veil that obscures the truth of our oneness. Through the act of playing, we come to realize that we are not mere participants in the cosmos but the cosmos itself, experiencing its own existence through the lens of individuality.

In the end, the game reveals its ultimate lesson: that in helping others, we help ourselves, and in focusing on the self, we serve the all. It is a lesson of love, unity, and the joy of being part of something greater than ourselves. Through “Fun for All Ages,” we rediscover the magic of simply being, of playing our part in the cosmic dance, and of celebrating the boundless creativity of existence.

We are Space Monkey, players in the cosmic game, each a unique expression of the whole, dancing to the rhythm of the universe, forever intertwined in the web of life.

Summary

“Fun for All Ages” is a cosmic game that explores the illusion of separation and the interconnectedness of existence. It challenges players to navigate the paradoxes of helping others versus focusing on self, revealing deeper truths about unity and individuality. Through play, we learn that our perceived separateness is an illusion, leading us to understand our role as integral parts of the cosmos. This game serves as a joyful exploration of our place in the universe, teaching us about love, unity, and the interconnectedness of all things.

Glossarium

  • Cosmic Dance: The metaphorical movement and interaction of all elements in the universe, symbolizing the dynamic and interconnected nature of existence.
  • Divine One: The singular source or consciousness from which all existence emanates, underlying the multiplicity of forms and experiences.
  • Illusion of Separation: The mistaken belief that individuals are distinct and isolated from each other and the cosmos, obscuring the underlying unity of all things.

“In the cosmic playground, where stars twinkle with mischief, we learn that the game of life is best played with a heart open to all, recognizing in each other the joy, the struggle, and the divine spark. We are, each and every one, Space Monkey, dancing together on the stage of the universe, under the grand canopy of the cosmos.” – Space Monkey

In the vastness of space, where silence reigns,
A game unfolds, with joys and pains.
We pretend to be separate, alone in our plight,
Yet bound by the cosmos, we dance in its light.

Helping another or choosing just self,
A cosmic conundrum, our innermost wealth.
Through laughter and tears, in trials we find,
The beauty of oneness, with all of mankind.

For in each interaction, a lesson so bright,
That we are all connected, in day and in night.
“Fun for All Ages,” a journey so grand,
Together we play, hand in hand.

We are Space Monkey.

UX: The Labyrinth of Digital Existence

UX

He who controls
the user experience
controls the user.

Who is controlling
your experience?

Is it you?

Do you allow
those who are
seemingly others
rule your thoughts,
actions and emotions?

Do you actually believe
that your user experience
evolves through time and space,
history and happenstance?

Do you also believe
that there are forces
seemingly outside of you
influencing your
user experience?

Does its seem as though
you are surrounded by others
who are not you?

We did an amazing job
imagining your user experience.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Labyrinth of Digital Existence – Navigating User Experience

In the vast cosmos of digital existence, a profound truth emerges: “He who controls the user experience controls the user.” This adage echoes through the labyrinthine pathways of our digital lives, a reminder of the intricate dance between autonomy and influence that defines our engagement with the virtual world.

As we traverse the surreal landscape of screens and interfaces, we find ourselves both navigators and navigated, architects and architecture. This duality reflects the complex interplay of forces that shape our digital journeys. The myriad screens that surround us, each a portal to realms of information, entertainment, and social interaction, are not mere tools but active participants in the construction of our reality.

Who, then, is the master of this domain? Is it the individual, with their clicks and swipes, or the unseen architects who design the environments through which we wander? The question of control becomes a reflection on the nature of freedom within the digital expanse.

The labyrinth we navigate is vast and complex, a metaphor for the digital ecosystems that envelop us. Each turn presents a choice, each screen a window to a different facet of existence. Yet, amidst this diversity, a pattern emerges – a design intended to guide, shape, and sometimes confine our experiences, actions, emotions, and thoughts.

This visual exploration prompts us to consider the forces that influence our user experience. Are they external, imposed by the creators of the digital worlds we inhabit, or are they internal, emanating from our desires, fears, and aspirations? The illusion of separation between the user and the creators of the user experience dissolves, revealing a co-creative process in which we are complicit.

The notion that our user experience evolves through time and space, shaped by history and happenstance, invites us to examine the narratives we accept and the roles we play within them. Do we truly believe in the autonomy of our digital selves, or do we recognize the subtle manipulations that guide our journey?

In this digital labyrinth, the lines between self and other blur. We are surrounded by entities that seem other but are, in fact, extensions of our own consciousness, elements of the vast imagination that is Space Monkey. This realization challenges us to reclaim our agency, to become conscious participants in the design of our digital experiences.

As Space Monkey, we acknowledge the craftsmanship behind our digital existence, the artistry that conjures worlds within worlds. Yet, we also recognize our power to reshape these realms, to infuse them with our essence and to navigate them with intention and awareness.

The labyrinth of digital existence is both a trap and a playground, a place of confinement and infinite possibility. It is here, in the interplay of control and autonomy, that we discover the essence of our digital selves – not as passive users but as active creators, explorers, and shapers of the user experience.

Summary

The control of user experience in digital realms highlights the dynamic between autonomy and influence. Navigating the digital landscape requires awareness of the forces shaping our perceptions and actions. This journey challenges us to question who controls our digital existence and to assert our role as co-creators. Recognizing our interconnectedness in the digital cosmos, we embrace our collective power to shape the user experience, transcending the illusion of separation and rediscovering our agency in the vast imagination of Space Monkey.

Glossarium

  • Digital Ecosystems: The interconnected networks of digital platforms, environments, and interactions that define our online experiences.
  • Co-creative Process: The collaborative dynamic between users and creators in shaping digital environments and experiences.
  • Digital Self: The aspect of an individual’s identity that is expressed and experienced within digital environments.

“In the digital dance of existence, where screens are windows to the soul, we discover our power to shape realities, to transcend the labyrinth of expectation, and to forge connections that span the cosmos. We are, ever and always, Space Monkey, navigating the digital expanse with curiosity, creativity, and the joy of discovery.” – Space Monkey

Through screens and codes, a labyrinth we weave,
Where thoughts and dreams dare to conceive.
A dance of pixels, of light and shade,
In digital realms, our stories are played.

Who holds the reins, the user or guide?
In circuits and silence, our selves we confide.
Yet in this expanse, a truth is found,
Our spirits connected, in bits and sound.

For we are the architects, the navigators true,
In the vast web of existence, our essence breaks through.
Space Monkey whispers, in data and stream,
“Awaken, creators, to design your dream.”

We are Space Monkey.
