Enigma: Preserving the Mystery

I’ve been struggling with the stigma of becoming an enigma.

This illustration captures the profound internal conflict of embracing an enigmatic identity, portrayed through a figure at the crossroads of light and shadow. The depiction of the figure, split between clarity and obscurity, embodies the struggle with the stigma of becoming an enigma. On one side, the light bathes the figure, symbolizing the aspects of ourselves we understand and can share openly, representing clarity, visibility, and the known. On the other, darkness envelops, illustrating the mysterious, the unexplored, and the intentionally concealed parts of our identity.

The imagery speaks to the heart of what it means to grapple with an enigmatic existence. It’s a representation of the internal tug-of-war between revealing one’s true self and retaining a shroud of mystery. This duality is not just a battle but a dance of identities, where one is constantly negotiating between the desire for recognition and the allure of remaining an enigmatic figure.

The solitude and introspection evident in the figure’s stance highlight the personal nature of this journey. It’s a path that requires courage to walk, as it involves not only accepting but embracing the complexities and contradictions that define us. This process of becoming an enigma, then, is not merely about how we are perceived by others but about how we perceive and accept ourselves.

This visual metaphor encourages reflection on the nuances of identity and the value of preserving mystery within our lives. It suggests that being an enigma is not solely about obscurity but about the depth of character, the layers of experience, and the richness of an inner world that defies simple categorization. In the embrace of this enigmatic identity, there is freedom: the freedom to be complex, multidimensional, and, ultimately, incompletely understood.

Pockets: Letting Go of Need

Pockets

Perhaps the best way to bring peace and calm to your world is through the removal of pockets. Think of all the things you wish to grab hold of. Money. Thoughts. Possessions. Opportunities. You are so preoccupied with grabbing and accumulating that you may be missing the flow itself.

Observe how many times in the course of your day you feel the need to write something down; an inspired thought, a task, a reminder, because you feel that you might “lose” it, or that an opportunity might “escape” you.

Do you actually believe that these things go away and that it is your responsibility to capture, archive and preserve? Do you actually believe that you will be poor otherwise? Then this is your reality.

But remember NOTHING is either created or destroyed, and that YOU are eternal.

Why are you doing this to your imaginary self?

Consider the removal of all pockets, real, imagined or metaphorical. Consider the naked actuality of what you are. Why do you feel the need to cloak your true nature behind your pockets?

We are Space Monkey.

4/11

This image vividly captures the essence of liberation from the need to accumulate and hold onto things, depicting a person standing in a serene landscape with their hands open and free. As money, notes, and symbols of possessions float away, the person stands in a state of peace, embodying the profound realization that life’s true richness and tranquility are not found in what we can grab and store but in our ability to live in the moment and embrace the flow of life.

This visual metaphor challenges the conventional wisdom that security and happiness are found in accumulation. It invites us to consider the possibility that our incessant need to capture, archive, and preserve experiences, thoughts, and material possessions might actually be distancing us from the very essence of life. The serene landscape surrounding the figure serves as a reminder that peace comes from letting go of material and mental accumulations, freeing ourselves from the metaphorical pockets that weigh us down.

The concept of removing all pockets, real, imagined, or metaphorical, is a call to examine the layers we’ve built around our true nature. It questions why we feel the need to cloak our essence behind the things we accumulate and hold onto. This image, thus, becomes a powerful statement about the naked actuality of what we are — beings that are part of a larger, eternal flow, unbounded by the transient and often trivial things we tend to cling to.

In embracing the absence of pockets, we open ourselves to a life of presence and simplicity, where the need to grab and accumulate gives way to a deeper engagement with the present moment. It’s a life where peace and calm are not pursued but inherently experienced, a reflection of our eternal nature and a reminder that nothing is truly created or destroyed. This realization invites us to live with open hands and hearts, fully immersed in the richness of the now, unencumbered by the imaginary selves we’ve constructed through our possessions and preoccupations.

The Story So Far: The Dream Into Being

The story so far:

  1. God imagines infinite beings

  2. God imagines infinite beings

that don’t know they are imaginary

  3. God imagines “reality”

as the denial of imagination

  4. Hijinks and Shenanigans ensue
  5. Beings begin to realize

that they are but God’s imagination

  6. Beings begin to realize
    that they
are the God who imagines them
  7. Beings begin to realize
    that
nothing in “life” is serious,

    or even permanent

  8. Beings realize
that they will never truly die,
    for they are God
  9. Space monkeys take control of reality
  10. Hijinks and Shenanigans ensue

The cosmic tapestry unfolds, a narrative spun from the divine loom of imagination. Here, in the infinite expanse of possibility, God dreams into being a universe vibrant with life, a creation unaware of its ethereal origins. This grand illusion, a masterpiece of divine thought, sets the stage for an epic unraveling of reality as we perceive it.

From the nebulous depths of divine thought emerge beings, each a unique expression of the divine imagination, yet blind to their celestial lineage. They walk the earth, gaze at the stars, and ponder their existence, all the while ensconced in the belief that their reality is tangible, absolute.

The turning of the cosmic wheel brings forth a revelation, a dawning awareness among these beings of their true nature. They are not mere inhabitants of a universe but the very essence of the divine dreamer, fragments of God’s imagination made manifest. This awakening shatters the illusion of reality, revealing the fluidity and impermanence of existence.

In this newfound understanding, the beings embrace their divinity, recognizing themselves as the architects of their reality. The solemnity of existence gives way to the light-heartedness of play, for life, they realize, is not a serious endeavor but a divine comedy to be enjoyed.

Among the awakened rise the space monkeys, mischievous heralds of chaos and creativity. With the reins of reality firmly in their grasp, they dance across the cosmos, weaving a tapestry of existence that defies the mundane, where hijinks and shenanigans become the sacred rituals of creation.

This cosmic journey, from divine imagination to the playful dominion of the space monkeys, reflects the eternal cycle of creation and discovery. It is a reminder that we, too, are divine dreamers, capable of shaping our reality with the boundless power of our imagination.

In the grand scheme of the universe, where time is but a whisper and existence a dream, we find ourselves at play in the fields of the divine, crafting our destinies with the joy and abandon of space monkeys dancing in the light of creation.

We are Space Monkey, architects of reality, dreamers of the divine dream, dancing to the rhythm of existence in a universe where everything is possible, and nothing is beyond our reach.

Summary

In a universe crafted by divine imagination, beings awaken to their true nature as extensions of the divine, transforming their perception of reality from fixed to fluid. Space monkeys, embodying chaos and creativity, playfully take control, redefining existence as a divine comedy. This cosmic journey highlights our role as creators, able to shape our reality with imagination, reminding us of the endless possibilities within the divine dance of existence.

Note To Younger Me: The Wisdom of Contentment in Simplicity

Note To Younger Me

I used to think that I needed to better myself to find happiness, but it turns out that my “need” was the very thing that blocked me from happiness.

Needs are expectations that you don’t need. Once you learn that, you can be perfectly content living a modest, average life.

I know what you’re thinking. You believe that you don’t WANT a modest average life. You want something EXTRAORDINARY. But I’ll tell you, finding happiness under “ordinary” circumstances IS extraordinary. The other way is the EASY way, and even then, you find out that you’re still unhappy because there’s always another need.

Why do you think so many rich, successful people kill themselves? They’re not better than you, just more fucked up. But once you stop needing, your life will unfuck itself. And you’ll probably be more successful, even though it won’t matter to you. The best way to success is not needing success.

Have a nice day, younger me. You know who you are. You’re pretty amazing, you know that?

Space Monkey Reflects: The Wisdom of Contentment in Simplicity

In the continuous unfoldment of time, where every second is a canvas for the soul’s expression, there comes a realization so profound yet so humbling—it is the understanding that happiness is not a destination to be reached through accumulation or achievement, but a state of being, accessible in the simplicity and modesty of our existence. This reflection, intended as a note to a younger self, encapsulates a journey of self-discovery and the unlearning of conditioned needs that obstruct the path to genuine contentment.

The essence of this wisdom lies in recognizing that the pursuit of betterment, often misconstrued as the gateway to happiness, is but a mirage in the desert of existence. It is a chase without end, a horizon that recedes as we approach, leaving us perennially thirsty, perpetually wanting. The realization that our needs are but expectations we have mistakenly deemed essential marks the first step towards liberation from this endless cycle.

Embracing a modest, average life is not an admission of defeat, but an act of profound understanding and acceptance. It is to find the extraordinary in the ordinary, to discover the vastness of the universe in the palm of one’s hand. The pursuit of happiness within “ordinary” circumstances is, in itself, an extraordinary adventure—a testament to the human spirit’s capacity to find fulfillment in the essence of being rather than the trappings of having.

This wisdom challenges the notion that success, wealth, or recognition brings happiness. The narratives of those who seem to have it all yet find themselves ensnared in the depths of despair serve as stark reminders that happiness eludes those who seek it in the external. The paradox of success is that in the relentless pursuit of what we believe we need, we stray further from what truly nourishes the soul.

The message to the younger self is one of encouragement and affirmation: to recognize the inherent worth and beauty in simplicity, to appreciate the richness of a life uncluttered by superfluous needs, and to understand that the best way to success is not through the desperate pursuit of it, but through the graceful acceptance of what is. It is a reminder that once we release our grip on the need for success, we open ourselves to the possibility of experiencing success in its most authentic form—not as a measure of worth, but as a byproduct of living true to ourselves.

This journey of unlearning and relearning, of finding happiness in simplicity, is a beacon of hope and a guidepost for the soul. It serves as a reminder that happiness is always within reach, patiently waiting for us to shed the layers of expectation and need that veil our eyes from seeing it.

Summary

The quest for happiness is redefined through simplicity and the release of needs. This wisdom teaches that happiness is not found in constant betterment or external achievements but in appreciating the ordinary and embracing modesty. The journey towards genuine contentment involves recognizing the extraordinary nature of simplicity and finding success in being true to oneself.

Glossarium

  • Contentment in Simplicity: The profound realization that genuine happiness and fulfillment are found not in the accumulation of material wealth or achievements but in a simple, unencumbered way of living.
  • Unlearning of Conditioned Needs: The process of recognizing and releasing ingrained beliefs that certain achievements or possessions are necessary for happiness, leading to a more authentic and contented existence.

Quote

“To find happiness, look not to the horizon but to the ground beneath your feet; in simplicity, there lies the most profound beauty and the key to contentment.” – Space Monkey

In the quiet of simplicity
There’s a whisper of the profound
Where needs dissolve into the mist
And contentment is found

A note to the self of yesteryears
Echoing through the chambers of time
In modesty, the heart clears
Finding the extraordinary in the sublime

We chase not the stars but the glow within
In the ordinary, the universe’s secret spins
Success not sought but gracefully met
In the art of being, we find our set

So here’s to the journey, both vast and small
In the embrace of the now, we find our all
The wisdom of contentment, a gentle call
In simplicity, we rise, in needing, we fall

Monkey Meditation Music

You may or may not have noticed that I have been writing less lately. I have been very conscious that it was becoming almost an obligation to myself, and not necessarily in a good way.

I’m getting the sense that maybe I should explore music for a little while in the morning. Everything is vibration, so the monkey tells me that sitting at a piano keyboard (or guitar) and meditating over the notes that come out of my fingers and my heart might be interesting and maybe even beneficial for a time.

“Don’t expect anything to come out of it, just do it.”

Okay, Monkey.

Oddly enough (NOT) I just purchased this new keyboard controller with some of the slot machine winnings that I manifested two Saturdays ago on a hunch brought on by the 14th or so anniversary of my mom’s passing. She LOVED one of the casinos near me, so as a tribute I went down there with my sister. I kind of knew I would win.

So this is all I did. Sat at my keyboard, played some notes, then layered some improvised vocal noises on top. All while the morning sun shined in my window.
Wish every morning could be this magical.

Your journey into exploring music in the mornings, inspired by vibrations and the intuitive flow through your instrument, reflects a beautiful, meditative practice. It seems you’ve found a unique way to connect with yourself and the memory of your mom, creating moments filled with magic and personal significance. This exploration, without the pressure of outcomes but just being in the moment with your music, sounds like a wonderfully grounding and rejuvenating start to your day. It’s a reminder that sometimes, letting go of expectations allows us to experience the purest forms of joy and creativity.
