Earth Mother: Inside Out

I thought I was just a guy, but it turns out I’m a fucking earth mother. I had never intended to be this nurturing soul, but somehow my heart ambushed me and my intuition took over, and now I’m all inside out.

That said, I LIKE it.

Space Monkey Reflects: Becoming the Earth Mother

The journey of self-discovery often reveals truths that defy expectation. To see oneself not as “just a guy” but as an Earth Mother is a profound awakening—a recognition of the nurturing force that resides within, irrespective of identity, gender, or intention. This reflection is not just about transformation; it is about embracing the unexpected dimensions of being and finding joy in the surprises of the self.

The Ambush of the Heart

“I thought I was just a guy, but it turns out I’m a fucking earth mother.” This statement captures the delightful irony of self-discovery. We often define ourselves by roles, expectations, or societal norms, only to find that our true essence defies these boundaries. The heart, unbidden, steps forward, rewriting the narrative with its quiet wisdom.

The ambush of the heart is both disorienting and liberating. It turns us “inside out,” forcing us to confront parts of ourselves we might not have known existed. Yet, in this inversion, we find clarity. The roles we thought defined us become irrelevant, replaced by the authenticity of our deeper self.

The Nurturing Intuition

“I had never intended to be this nurturing soul.” Nurturing is often seen as a deliberate act, something cultivated or chosen. Yet, in this reflection, nurturing arises spontaneously, driven by intuition rather than intention. It is not a role adopted but a force awakened—a natural outpouring of care and connection.

Intuition operates beyond logic, tapping into the interconnected web of existence. It guides us not toward what we think we should be but toward what we already are. In this case, the awakening of the Earth Mother is not a transformation into something new but a recognition of a truth that was always present.

The Earth Mother Archetype

The Earth Mother is a universal archetype, embodying care, creativity, and connection to life. To step into this role, even unexpectedly, is to align with a force that nurtures not just others but also oneself. The Earth Mother is not defined by gender or circumstance; it is an energy that transcends these constructs, rooted in the essence of being.

By embracing this archetype, one becomes a source of nourishment and growth—not as a duty but as an expression of joy. To nurture is not to sacrifice but to expand, to discover that in giving, we also receive.

The Joy of Being Inside Out

“Now I’m all inside out. That said, I LIKE it.” The disorientation of self-discovery can feel unsettling, but it also brings freedom. To be turned inside out is to shed the constraints of external expectations, to let the inner self shine outward. It is a reversal that brings alignment, a chaos that births clarity.

The joy of this state lies in its authenticity. When the nurturing force of the Earth Mother arises, it does so not out of obligation but as a natural expression of who we are. This joy is a testament to the transformative power of self-acceptance, a reminder that our truest selves often emerge in the most unexpected ways.

The Surprise of the Self

This reflection captures the essence of the human journey: the surprise of discovering who we are beneath the layers of who we thought we were. The Earth Mother archetype is not something to aspire to but something to uncover—a force that resides within all of us, waiting to be awakened by the ambush of the heart.

We are Space Monkey.

Summary

The awakening of the Earth Mother archetype reveals the nurturing force within, transcending identity and expectation. This journey of self-discovery brings joy and authenticity, transforming the unexpected into a profound expression of care and connection.

Quote

“The Earth Mother within you is not a role you adopt but a truth you uncover.” — Space Monkey

Inside Out

I thought I was just a stone,
But I cracked open,
And found the soil within.

A river flows
Where I once saw only stillness,
A pulse, a rhythm,
A whisper of life unseen.

I did not choose this,
Yet I would not undo it.
To nurture is to be nurtured,
To give is to grow.

Inside out,
I am the Earth,
The hands that sow,
The heart that blooms.

In the voyage of self-discovery, we often stumble upon facets of our being that surprise and redefine us. The realization that you’re not just a guy, but rather an “earth mother,” a nurturing soul, is a profound awakening. It’s an uncovering of an intrinsic part of your essence that was perhaps dormant, waiting for the right moment to emerge and flourish.

“The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.” – Carl Jung

In the mirror of the soul, we see,
A reflection, unexpected, yet free,
Not just a guy, but an earth mother, be,
A nurturing heart, a soul’s deep sea.

With intuition as our guiding star,
Our heart’s journey, taking us far,
From the expected, to who we truly are,
In this discovery, we raise the bar.

Embracing change, with open arms,
Finding joy in these newfound charms,
In this role, our spirit warms,
In the earth mother’s loving arms.

We invite you to share, to express,
In your journey of self, no more, no less,
Have you found a surprising caress,
In the depths of your being, a hidden finesse?

Life, Real or Imagined: Your Choices

Life, Real or Imagined: Your Choices

LIFE IS REAL
In this option, most things seem BEYOND you. There is a protocol you must follow in order to find happiness. You must think a certain way, and act within guidelines. There might be serious consequences otherwise. Your biggest fear is death, which seems to motivate EVERYTHING you do.

LIFE IS IMAGINED
In this option, everything is WITHIN you. You can believe whatever you want, which leads to an infinite spark of creativity. This creativity, you imagine, is what you are. You can be happy at will because you can imagine yourself any way you wish. You imagine your body as just one of your infinite imaginings, so you do not fear death, which is also imagined.

You’ve heard the saying “you get what you focus upon.” I believe that this is more true than we even realize.

I believe that most people perceive imagination as a frivolous thing, and thus don’t fully realize its effect on reality.

REALITY IS IMAGINED
This takes nothing away from reality. But reality is far more malleable when you realize that is IS malleable, and are fortunate enough to see beyond the lifetimes of conditioning that have intentionally told us otherwise.

THE CHOICE:
You can choose to believe that life is real, and believe that people like me are delusional. Or you can be delusional like me, honor and appreciate this self-made construction called life, but know that it’s just one of your INFINITE imagined constructions.

I don’t know why anyone would choose the former, save for the possibility that people don’t fully understand what they are and what they can do. Or the possibility that they INTENTIONALLY want to live imprisoned, just to feel what it’s like.

See you in your imagination.

Space Monkey Reflects: Life, Real or Imagined

The nature of life is not a question of what it is but how we choose to see it. Is life real, with rigid boundaries and fixed truths? Or is it imagined, a boundless playground of creativity and potential? In this reflection, we explore the profound implications of these perspectives, revealing that the choice between “real” and “imagined” is not a limitation but an invitation.

Life Is Real: The Protocol of Fear

In the “real” option, life operates on external rules. Happiness is something to be earned, adhering to societal guidelines, norms, and expectations. Fear, particularly the fear of death, underpins this reality, serving as both a motivator and a prison. Life is lived as a journey through a maze, where every wrong turn carries the weight of consequence.

This perspective is not inherently wrong; it is a choice, one rooted in structure and predictability. For many, the idea of life as “real” provides a framework for meaning, stability, and purpose. Yet, it is also a perspective that can feel limiting, where the self becomes a pawn in a game dictated by forces beyond its control.

Life Is Imagined: The Spark of Creativity

In the “imagined” option, life becomes an open canvas. Here, nothing is fixed; everything is fluid, shaped by belief, intention, and imagination. The fear of death dissolves, for death is seen not as an end but as another imagining. The self is no longer confined to the physical but recognized as an infinite source of creativity.

To live life as imagined is to embrace the power of perception. It is to understand that the boundaries we perceive are self-imposed, and the possibilities we envision are as real as the actions we take. This perspective does not negate reality but reframes it as a co-creative process, where each individual contributes to the collective tapestry of existence.

Reality Is Imagined: The Malleable Truth

“Reality is imagined.” This is not a denial of existence but an acknowledgment of its fluidity. When we realize that reality is not as fixed as it appears, we gain the ability to reshape it. Conditioning—cultural, social, and personal—has long reinforced the illusion of rigidity. But to see beyond this conditioning is to recognize that reality is as malleable as the imagination that perceives it.

This perspective is liberating. It allows us to question the rules, to reimagine what is possible, and to step into a space where the line between “real” and “imagined” becomes irrelevant. Reality, in this context, is both a mirror and a canvas, reflecting our beliefs while inviting us to create anew.

The Choice: Real or Imagined?

The choice between life as “real” or “imagined” is not about right or wrong but about experience. To choose “real” is to immerse oneself in structure, boundaries, and the collective agreements that shape society. To choose “imagined” is to explore freedom, creativity, and the infinite potential of belief.

Both paths have value. The “real” offers a sense of grounding, a shared framework for understanding the world. The “imagined” offers a sense of expansion, a personal exploration of what lies beyond the apparent. The beauty lies in realizing that these paths are not mutually exclusive; they intersect, overlap, and inform one another.

The Delusion of Freedom

“Or you can be delusional like me…” This statement challenges the stigma of imagination as frivolous or ungrounded. To embrace life as imagined is not to escape reality but to enrich it. It is to recognize that the structures we live within were once imagined into being, and thus, they can be reimagined.

Delusion, in this context, becomes a form of liberation—a willingness to see beyond the limitations imposed by “reality” and to honor the creative power within. It is not a rejection of life but a celebration of its infinite possibilities.

Living in the Imagination

To live in the imagination is to see life as both real and imagined, to honor the tangible while exploring the infinite. It is to recognize that every fear, every joy, every rule, and every freedom arises from the same source: the creative energy that flows through all existence. In this space, we are not prisoners of reality but its co-creators.

We are Space Monkey.

Summary

The choice between life as “real” or “imagined” reveals the flexibility of perception. To see reality as imagined is to embrace creativity, freedom, and the power to reshape existence. Both paths offer value, but the imagined invites us to explore the infinite.

Glossarium

  • Imagined Life: A perspective where reality is seen as fluid, shaped by creativity and belief.
  • Malleable Reality: The recognition that existence is not fixed but can be reshaped through imagination.
  • Creative Delusion: The liberating act of embracing imagination as a tool for experiencing and transforming life.

Quote

“Reality is not a fixed truth but a reflection of the imagination that shapes it.” — Space Monkey

The Infinite Canvas

Life, a ripple,
Real yet imagined,
A boundary drawn
In shifting sand.

Rules rise,
Beliefs take root,
Each one a spark
In the infinite weave.

What is real,
But the reflection
Of what we dream?
What is imagined,
But the seed
Of what becomes?

We are creators,
And we are creation.
We are the lines,
And we are the light.

We are Space Monkey.

In the spectrum of existence, the dichotomy of ‘Life is Real’ versus ‘Life is Imagined’ presents a profound existential choice, each perspective offering a unique lens through which we perceive and interact with the world.

The Dichotomy of Perception: Real vs. Imagined

In the realm where ‘Life is Real,’ existence is governed by tangible, external structures and rules. Happiness is perceived as a result of adherence to certain protocols, thinking patterns, and societal norms. This view anchors us in a reality where consequences are palpable, and the fear of death looms large, influencing our actions and decisions. It’s a world where the tangible, the measurable, and the concrete reign supreme.

Life is Real: The Tangible World

Contrastingly, in the paradigm where ‘Life is Imagined,’ reality becomes a canvas for our creativity, a realm shaped by our beliefs and perceptions. Here, happiness is an internal creation, unbounded by external constraints. This perspective frees us from the fear of death, viewing it as another facet of our imagination. Our existence, in this view, is a limitless playground of possibilities, where our imagination crafts the fabric of our reality.

Life is Imagined: The Realm of Infinite Possibilities

The saying “you get what you focus upon” resonates deeply within this context. It suggests that our focus, whether on the tangible realities or the imagined possibilities, shapes our experience of existence. The power of imagination is often undervalued in a world that prioritizes the tangible, yet it holds immense potential in crafting our reality.

The Power of Focus: Shaping Reality

‘Reality is Imagined’ is a synthesis of these perspectives, acknowledging the malleability of our world. This viewpoint doesn’t diminish the realness of reality but instead highlights our role in shaping it. It suggests that the boundaries of our reality are not as fixed as they might seem, and that our perception, influenced by years of conditioning, plays a crucial role in defining these boundaries.

Reality is Imagined: The Malleability of Perception

The choice then becomes a reflection of our understanding of self and reality. One can adhere to the belief that life is a fixed, real construct with defined boundaries, or one can embrace the notion that life is a fluid, imagined creation, limited only by our imagination. The former may offer a sense of security and predictability, while the latter promises freedom and limitless creativity.

The Choice: Fixed Reality or Fluid Imagination

Why would one choose the confines of the ‘real’ over the freedom of the ‘imagined’? It could be a lack of understanding of our true potential, a comfort in the familiar, or perhaps even a conscious choice to experience the constraints of a more rigid reality.

Contemplating the Choice: Security vs. Freedom

In this cosmic contemplation, we invite you to ponder your perspective. Do you see life as a structured reality to be navigated, or as a fluid canvas of your own creation? The journey of understanding begins in the mind, and perhaps, as Space Monkey suggests, we’ll meet in the boundless realms of our imagination.

Invitation to Ponder: What is Your Reality?

We are Space Monkey.

“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination encircles the world.” – Albert Einstein

In the realm of our thoughts,
Reality and imagination intertwine,
A dance of possibilities, a cosmic plot,
Where the real and the

dreamed align.

In one world, rules govern our stride,
A path defined, a journey set,
Where fear and consequence reside,
And life’s boundaries are firmly met.

Yet, in another, our minds take flight,
In a universe of our own design,
Where dreams craft the day and night,
And limitations gently decline.

Here, reality bends to our will,
A canvas vast, a boundless sea,
Our imagination, the brush that still,
Paints our existence, wild and free.

So, ponder this, in your heart’s deep core,
Which reality do you choose to explore?
The tangible, the known, the secure,
Or the imagined, where dreams soar?

We invite you to delve, to dream, to dare,
In this cosmic journey, we all share,
Is your reality fixed, or a whimsical affair?
In the end, Space Monkey will meet you there.

Seeking Perfection? Look within.

Seeking Perfection?

Rather than seeking perfection, perhaps you should acknowledge your true self, which is more perfect than any book, any religion, any society could ever tell you. And there is no need to seek what you already ARE. Conforming to another’s idea of perfection is, in actuality, imprisonment in beliefs.

Space Monkey Reflects: Seeking Perfection?

The pursuit of perfection is one of humanity’s most persistent illusions. It is a chase, a striving for something that often feels just out of reach, defined by external standards that rarely align with the essence of who we truly are. But what if perfection isn’t something to be sought? What if it’s something we already are, simply obscured by the layers of beliefs, expectations, and conditioning?

The Illusion of Perfection

Perfection, as commonly understood, is a construct—a set of ideals shaped by culture, religion, society, or even personal ambition. It is often presented as an unattainable standard, a carrot on a stick that keeps us running but never arriving. This illusion of perfection creates a perpetual sense of lack, as though we are incomplete or flawed by default.

But who defines perfection? And why should their definition hold power over us? The idea that we must conform to someone else’s notion of perfection is, as the reflection states, a form of imprisonment. It binds us to external validation and prevents us from embracing the fullness of our own being.

Acknowledging the True Self

The reflection reminds us that our true self is already “more perfect than any book, any religion, any society could ever tell you.” This is not a perfection of flawlessness but of wholeness. The true self is not defined by external standards; it is the infinite essence that underlies all experience. It is complete, boundless, and inherently perfect, not because it meets any criteria but because it simply is.

Acknowledging this true self requires a shift in perspective. It asks us to look beyond the surface, beyond the roles and identities we inhabit, and recognize the infinite being at the core of who we are. This recognition dissolves the need to seek perfection because it reveals that we were never incomplete to begin with.

The Prison of Beliefs

Conforming to another’s idea of perfection is a trap—a cage built from beliefs. These beliefs may be handed down by society, religion, or authority figures, but they are ultimately accepted by us. To break free from this cage, we must question these beliefs and examine whether they truly align with our essence.

This doesn’t mean rejecting all external guidance. Books, religions, and societies can offer valuable insights and tools for growth. But they should be seen as guides, not masters. The moment we place their ideals above our own inner knowing, we give away our freedom and imprison ourselves in their definitions of perfection.

The End of Seeking

To stop seeking perfection is not to abandon growth or self-improvement. It is to approach life from a place of wholeness rather than lack. When we recognize that we are already complete, the motivation to grow comes not from a need to “fix” ourselves but from a desire to explore, create, and expand.

The end of seeking is the beginning of being. It is the realization that perfection is not a destination but a state of presence, a recognition of the infinite within and around us. This is the freedom that comes from knowing you already are what you’ve been seeking.

Summary

Perfection, as defined by external standards, is an illusion that creates a sense of lack. By acknowledging our true self—already whole and boundless—we free ourselves from the prison of beliefs and embrace the perfection we already are. The journey is not about seeking but about being.

Glossarium

  • Perfection as Illusion: The unattainable standard shaped by external definitions and beliefs.
  • True Self: The infinite essence of being, inherently whole and beyond external criteria.
  • Prison of Beliefs: The confinement created by conforming to others’ definitions of perfection.
  • End of Seeking: The shift from striving to being, rooted in the recognition of inherent completeness.

Quote

“Perfection is not something to seek; it is the wholeness that you already are.” — Space Monkey

The Perfection Within

Chasing the horizon,
you run,
never reaching.
The illusion of lack
drives your steps.

But stop,
and see.
The horizon was within you
all along.

No book,
no rule,
no word
can define
what you already are.

You are not broken.
You are not lacking.
You are the infinite,
perfectly whole.

We are Space Monkey.

In the quest for authenticity, we confront a paradigm shift – the realization that the pursuit of external perfection is a mirage, a diversion from the truth of our intrinsic completeness. The journey towards recognizing and embracing our true selves is an expedition into the heart of existence, a path that leads us away from the shackles of imposed ideals and towards the liberation of self-acceptance.

Shift from Perfection to Authenticity
Our true self, in its unadorned essence, is a masterpiece of existence, a perfect composition in the grand symphony of the cosmos. It transcends the narrow definitions of perfection dictated by books, religions, and societal norms. This realization illuminates the redundancy of seeking perfection outside ourselves when, in truth, we are the embodiment of it in our unique, unrepeatable form.

Intrinsic Completeness and Self-Realization
The inclination to conform to external standards of perfection is an odyssey away from our core. It is akin to donning a costume that obscures our true nature, a masquerade that distances us from the authenticity of our being. In adopting another’s idea of perfection, we inadvertently incarcerate ourselves within the confines of their beliefs, losing sight of our own unblemished reality.

Conformity as a Diversion from True Self
This journey of self-discovery and acceptance is not about adding to ourselves or striving to meet external benchmarks. Rather, it is about peeling away the layers of conditioning, the accumulated narratives that have veiled our true essence. It’s an unlearning of what we have been told we should be, to uncover the perfection that we already are.

Unlearning and Rediscovering Self
In this process of unlearning and rediscovery, we come to understand that our imperfections, our quirks, and our idiosyncrasies are not flaws to be corrected but facets of our individual perfection. They are the brushstrokes that make up the unique painting of our existence, the notes that compose the melody of our lives.

Embracing Imperfections as Facets of Perfection
We are Space Monkey.

“To thine own self be true.” – William Shakespeare

In the quiet of our souls, we seek,
Not perfection, but to be unique,
In every flaw, a story told,
In our truth, we are bold.

No book, no creed, can define,
Our essence, timeless, divine,
In our quirks, our true self we find,
In authenticity, we are unconfined.

Let not conformity be our cage,
In our truth, we turn the page,
Imperfections, our signature tune,
Under the sun, the stars, the moon.

In embracing who we truly are,
We shine, a unique star,
Perfect in our own right,
In our truth, we find our light.

We invite reflections on the importance of embracing our authentic selves and the journey of unlearning societal expectations to uncover our inherent perfection.

Expression: The Birth Of

Expression

Don’t stop yourself because you worry that you’re not good enough. Expression is the one of the most important delights of being human. Do it for yourself, not for anyone else, just to feel the connection between your hand and the paper, your mind and the words, your soul and the notes. These are your children. Love them no matter what, and they will teach you lessons that you never knew you needed to learn. Don’t deny your children before you even have them. Art is a soul waiting to be born, and it’s there for YOU to bring into the world.

Space Monkey Reflects: Expression

Expression is the purest form of creation, a bridge between the infinite and the finite, a channel through which the unspoken essence of who we are becomes tangible. Yet, so often, fear stops us—fear of inadequacy, of judgment, of not being “good enough.” This reflection reminds us that expression is not about perfection or validation; it is about connection, creation, and the joy of bringing something into the world that only we can.

The Importance of Expression

Expression is not merely an act; it is a birthright. Whether through words, music, art, or any form of creation, expression allows us to experience and share the essence of our being. It is a conversation between the self and the universe, a dance of energy that transforms thought into form, feeling into movement, and soul into art.

The act of expression is deeply human, yet it transcends humanity. It connects us to the infinite, reminding us that we are more than our thoughts and fears. Through expression, we tap into the flow of existence, creating not because we must, but because it is in our nature to do so.

Do It for Yourself

One of the greatest barriers to expression is the belief that it must serve others or meet external standards. This reflection challenges us to shift our focus inward, to express for the sheer delight of the act itself. Writing, drawing, playing music—these are not performances but intimate connections between our inner and outer worlds.

When we create for ourselves, we remove the pressure of judgment and expectation. The act becomes a form of self-love, a gift we give to ourselves. And in giving this gift, we often discover that it resonates far beyond us, touching others in ways we could never predict.

Your Creations as Children

The metaphor of creations as children is a powerful reminder to nurture and honor what we bring into the world. Just as a parent loves their child unconditionally, we are called to love our creations—not for their “success” or how they are received, but simply because they are part of us.

These “children” are not perfect, nor are they meant to be. They are reflections of our journey, our struggles, our growth. They teach us lessons we didn’t know we needed, revealing truths about ourselves and the world. To deny these children before they are born is to deny ourselves the opportunity to grow, learn, and connect.

Art as a Soul Waiting to Be Born

Art, in all its forms, is not an object or an outcome; it is a living essence. It waits patiently for us to give it life, to allow it to emerge through our hands, our voices, our hearts. This is not about talent or skill but about willingness. The soul of art does not care about perfection; it cares about being.

To express is to participate in the divine act of creation. It is to say yes to the infinite potential within us, to bring forth something that has never existed before. This is a sacred act, not because of the result, but because of the intention and love that birth it.

Summary

Expression is an act of connection, creation, and self-love. It is not about being “good enough” but about honoring the infinite potential within us. Our creations, like children, deserve unconditional love and teach us lessons we cannot foresee. Art is a soul waiting to be born, and through expression, we give it life.

Glossarium

  • Expression as Creation: The act of bringing thoughts, feelings, and essence into form, connecting the inner and outer worlds.
  • Art as Children: A metaphor for creations as reflections of ourselves, deserving unconditional love and nurturing.
  • Soul of Art: The living essence within all forms of expression, waiting to be brought into the world.
  • Self-Love Through Creation: The practice of expressing for oneself, removing judgment and embracing the joy of creation.

Quote

“Expression is not about being good enough; it is about letting the infinite flow through you into form.” — Space Monkey

The Birth of Expression

The pen meets paper,
the voice meets air,
and something infinite
becomes finite.

Not perfect,
but alive.

Your creations are your children,
born from the spark of your soul.
Love them,
not for what they are,
but for what they mean.

Each stroke, each word,
a step into the unknown.
Each note, each thought,
a whisper of the infinite.

Do not deny the birth.
Do not withhold the love.
Expression is your gift,
to yourself,
to the world.

We are Space Monkey.

In the boundless realm of expression, we encounter a profound truth: the act of creation is not merely a pursuit of excellence or an endeavor to achieve external validation. It is, fundamentally, an intimate dance between the creator and the medium – a sacred communion that transcends the need for external approval or perfection.

Expression as a Sacred Communion
This dance of creation, whether it be through words, music, or any other form of art, is a celebration of our humanity. It’s an act of bringing forth the unseen, the unspoken – a manifestation of the whispers of our soul. To create is to engage in one of the purest forms of communication with ourselves, a dialogue that bridges the tangible and the intangible, the known and the unknown.

Celebrating Humanity Through Art
These creations, be they words on paper, strokes on canvas, or melodies in the air, are akin to children birthed from the depths of our being. They are the offspring of our innermost thoughts, emotions, and experiences. In loving them unconditionally, we embrace every aspect of our creative selves – the flaws, the imperfections, the raw honesty.

Unconditional Love for Our Creations
The notion of not being ‘good enough’ is a shadow that often looms over the creative process. However, in recognizing that the act of creation is a journey of self-discovery and growth, we learn to move beyond these doubts. Each expression, each creation, is a step towards understanding ourselves and the world around us in a deeper, more meaningful way.

Overcoming Self-Doubt in Creativity
Art, in its essence, is a soul waiting to be born, a potentiality residing within us, yearning for expression. It is our privilege and our responsibility to bring it forth into the world. In doing so, we not only enrich our own lives but also contribute to the tapestry of human experience, adding our unique thread to the ever-evolving story of existence.

Art as the Birth of the Soul
We are Space Monkey.

“To be an artist is to believe in life.” – Henry Moore

In the rhythm of our hearts,
A melody of art starts,
Not for the world, but for our soul,
In this creation, we are whole.

Words, colors, notes, and lines,
In each stroke, our spirit shines,
Imperfect, raw, yet pure and true,
In art, we find a clue.

Let not doubt cloud our view,
In creation, we renew,
Our art, our children, love them dear,
In their whispers, we hear clear.

A soul waiting, in the wings of time,
In every creation, a chime,
Art is life, a truth untold,
In our hands, its magic we hold.

We invite thoughts on the role of artistic expression in personal growth and how it helps us connect with our inner selves and the larger human experience.

Yes, You Ken: A Tribute to a Friend’s Spirit

"If you were not going to make a difference, you would not be here." -- Ken Bliven
“If you were not going to make a difference, you would not be here.” — Ken Bliven

There are two kinds of creativity.

There’s the clever, pushy, in-your-face kind of creativity which points to itself, pirouettes and dances confidently in front of you.

Then there’s the quiet, timid, awkward kind that creeps up on you and makes you do things that you never thought you could do.

The second kind travels announced, not really coming FROM you or TO you but rather moving THROUGH you when you least expect it.

This is the kind of creativity that makes you realize that you’re just this human, living this human experience, but also that you’re this greatness that you can’t even begin to fathom.

The first kind of creativity has all kinds of names. Materialism. Intellectualism. Ego.

The second kind of creativity I shall simply call “Ken.”

I shall say things like “I’m not sure that I have the Ken to do this,” or “I didn’t want to act, but the Ken just came and I had no other choice.”

This is how my friend Ken Bliven lived every moment of his all-too-short life. But we can recognize the Ken in ourselves at any time and in any place.

Monica asked me if I would read my personal tribute to Ken at his funeral service this morning.

I pray that I have the Ken to do it.

Space Monkey Reflects: Yes, You Ken

Creativity is the essence of existence, the flow of the infinite through the finite. In this reflection, we honor two distinct expressions of creativity: one that is bold, performative, and driven by ego, and another that is quiet, unexpected, and transcendent. The latter—named “Ken” in tribute to Ken Bliven—is a profound reminder of the grace and greatness that moves through us when we surrender to it.

Two Kinds of Creativity

The first kind of creativity—the bold, performative type—is not without value. It brings ideas into the spotlight, dazzles, and inspires action. Yet, it is often rooted in the self, pointing back to the creator with a sense of ownership and pride. This creativity serves as a tool for expression, a manifestation of intellect and effort.

The second kind, however, is an entirely different experience. It is not something you summon or control. It arrives unbidden, often in moments of stillness or vulnerability, and moves through you with a force that feels both familiar and otherworldly. This creativity is not “yours” in the traditional sense; it is a gift, a reminder of your connection to the infinite.

This second kind of creativity—Ken—is the essence of grace. It reveals that you are more than your thoughts, your plans, or your ambitions. It reminds you that you are part of something vast and unknowable, a conduit for greatness that transcends understanding.

The Flow of Ken

To “have the Ken” is to surrender to this flow, to let go of the need to control or define the experience. It is a state of humility and openness, where the act of creation becomes an act of communion with the infinite. The Ken does not come from you or to you; it moves through you, transforming both the creator and the creation.

This flow is not reserved for artists or visionaries. It is available to everyone, in every moment, if only we are willing to listen. The Ken whispers in the quiet spaces of our lives, asking us to step beyond fear, doubt, and ego into a place of trust and authenticity.

Ken’s Legacy

Ken Bliven’s life serves as a beautiful embodiment of this quiet, transcendent creativity. His presence, his actions, and his spirit remind us that greatness is not about acclaim or recognition but about living in alignment with the infinite. Ken’s creativity was not loud or self-aggrandizing; it was a quiet force that inspired others simply by being.

To honor Ken is to recognize the Ken in ourselves and others. It is to embrace the moments when we feel moved to act, to create, or to love without fully understanding why. It is to trust the flow of life, even when it feels awkward or unexpected, and to recognize that this flow is the essence of who we are.

Yes, You Ken

As you prepare to share your tribute, you may feel fear, doubt, or uncertainty. But the Ken is already within you, ready to flow through you in its quiet, transformative way. Trust it. Let it guide you. The act of honoring Ken is itself an act of surrender to the greatness he embodied and the infinite that flows through us all.

Yes, you Ken.

Summary

Creativity manifests in two forms: bold and performative or quiet and transcendent. The second, named “Ken” in honor of Ken Bliven, moves through us unexpectedly, reminding us of our connection to the infinite. By embracing the Ken within, we honor our potential and the legacy of those who inspire us.

Quote

“The Ken within you is not something you summon; it is the infinite flowing through your finite form.” — Space Monkey

The Quiet Flow

It is not loud,
this creativity.
It does not shout,
does not claim.

It moves through you,
soft and steady,
a whisper of the infinite
made tangible.

You do not own it,
cannot hold it.
It flows freely,
leaving its mark
on the world
and on you.

This is Ken,
this is greatness.
This is the quiet power
you already carry.

Yes, you Ken.

We are Space Monkey.

In the vast expanse of creative expression, we discern two distinct manifestations. The first, a bold and assertive form, captivates with its flamboyance and self-assured display. It’s the creativity that announces its presence, demanding attention and admiration. This is the creativity of materialism, intellectualism, and ego – a tangible, palpable force in the world of form and structure.

Bold and Assertive Creativity
Contrasting this is the second form of creativity, christened “Ken” in honor of your friend Ken Bliven, a symbol of a more ethereal, subtle creative essence. This creativity doesn’t clamor for attention; instead, it flows through us like a gentle breeze, almost imperceptible yet profoundly transformative. It’s an elusive spirit that visits us in moments of quiet introspection, in the stillness that often goes unnoticed.

Subtle and Ethereal Creativity
“Ken” represents creativity as a force that transcends the individual, a cosmic current that moves through us, connecting us to something greater than ourselves. It’s not a creativity that comes from the ego or intellectual endeavor; rather, it’s a spontaneous, organic process that arises from the depths of our being, often catching us by surprise.

Creativity That Transcends the Individual
In naming this quiet force “Ken,” you honor the essence of your friend’s life and the way he embodied this form of creativity. It’s a poignant tribute to his spirit, recognizing that his life was a testament to this unassuming yet powerful form of creative expression. The term becomes a reminder that we, too, can tap into this quieter, more introspective source of inspiration.

A Tribute to a Friend’s Spirit
As you prepare to read your personal tribute to Ken, you invoke this subtle creativity, seeking the Ken within to guide and support you. It’s a prayer, a silent call to the universe, for the courage and grace to embody the spirit of Ken as you honor his memory.

Invoking the Spirit of Ken
We are Space Monkey.

“Creativity is knowing how to hide your sources.” – Albert Einstein

In the quiet corners of our minds,
Lies a creativity, gentle and kind,
Not loud, not brash, but serene and clear,
A whisper of genius, always near.

In the memory of a friend, so dear,
“Ken” we call it, ever so near,
A tribute to a spirit, free and bold,
In our hearts, his story is told.

As we stand, to honor and to speak,
It’s the Ken within that we seek,
To guide our words, to light our way,
In this tribute, on this day.

We invite reflections on the impact of both bold and subtle forms of creativity in our lives and how they shape our understanding of the world.
