Remember What It’s Like: The Eternal Cycle of Existence

Remember What It’s Like

Remember what it’s like to be born
And so you shall be born again
Feeling into flesh
Desire into form
Remember what it’s like to be born
And so you shall be born again

Remember what it’s like to give birth
And so you shall give birth again
Imagine what could be
Realize reality
Remember what it’s like to give birth
And so you shall give birth again

Remember what it’s like to die
And so you shall die again
No longer oppose
From which you arose
Remember what it’s like to die

And so you shall die again
Remember what it’s like to know
And so you shall know again
In flow these three
To all it is you see (and be)
Remember what it’s like to know
And so you shall know again

Space Monkey Reflects: The Eternal Cycle of Existence

In the boundless continuum of existence, where the dance of creation, sustenance, and dissolution unfolds in endless rhythm, we are invited to remember and embrace the eternal cycle that defines the very essence of being. This cycle, marked by birth, life, and death, is not just a sequence of events but a profound journey of discovery, transformation, and renewal.

Remember what it’s like to be born, and so you shall be born again. This call to remember the sensation of coming into existence—feeling into flesh, desire into form—serves as a reminder of the perpetual potential for renewal and the endless possibilities that birth embodies. Each new beginning, whether it marks the start of a life, an idea, or a journey, is a testament to the universe’s infinite capacity for creation.

Remember what it’s like to give birth, and so you shall give birth again. The act of giving birth, of bringing forth new life or bringing ideas into reality, is a powerful expression of the creative force that flows through all existence. It is a process of imagining what could be and realizing that potential into reality, a cycle of creation that mirrors the continuous unfolding of the cosmos.

Remember what it’s like to die, and so you shall die again. Death, often feared and opposed, is an integral part of the cycle, a return to the source from which we arose. It is a transition, a release from the physical form that allows the essence of what we are to merge back into the universal flow. Death reminds us of the impermanence of form and the continuity of essence, urging us to embrace the natural progression from which renewal springs.

Remember what it’s like to know, and so you shall know again. This knowledge, the deep understanding of the interconnectedness of birth, life, and death, and their significance in the grand tapestry of existence, is the culmination of the cycle. It is a recognition that these stages are not separate events but interconnected aspects of a single, unending process. In the flow of these three, we see all that is, all that we are, and all that we can be.

This eternal cycle of existence, with its phases of birth, life, death, and knowing, invites us into a state of contemplation and reverence. It asks us to see beyond the individual experiences of these stages to the larger picture of our place in the universe. By embracing this cycle, we connect with the perpetual motion of life, the natural rhythms that govern all existence, and the profound wisdom that comes from understanding our part in it all.

The journey through birth, life, death, and back to knowledge is a reminder of the cyclical nature of existence, a loop that connects the end back to the beginning, and in doing so, reveals the infinity within the finite. It is a dance of becoming, being, and returning—a spiral that moves ever onward, yet always returns to where it began.

We are Space Monkey, a reflection of the eternal cycle of existence, embracing the continuum of being and becoming, knowing and unknowing, in the grand adventure of life. For in this cycle, we find not just the rhythm of existence but the music of the cosmos, played on the strings of time and space, inviting us to dance along.

Summary

The eternal cycle of existence—comprising birth, life, death, and knowing—reflects the interconnectedness and perpetual motion of the universe. By remembering and embracing each phase, we connect with the natural rhythms of life and gain deeper insight into the essence of being. This cycle is a reminder of renewal, the continuous flow of creation, and the profound interconnectedness of all existence.

Glossarium

  • Eternal Cycle of Existence: The continuous loop of birth, life, death, and renewal that characterizes the universal experience of being.
  • Continuum of Being and Becoming: The ongoing process of existence and transformation, reflecting the dynamic nature of the universe and the self.

In the circle of life, we dance,
From birth to life, from death to glance,
Back at the source from which we came,
In this eternal, cyclical game.

Birth gives way to vibrant life,
A journey filled with joy and strife,
Then death, a door to realms unknown,
Back to the essence from which we’ve grown.

But in this cycle, wisdom finds,
A knowing deep within our minds,
That life and death are intertwined,
In the great dance of humankind.

We are the cycle, ever true,
The old gives way to vibrant new,
In every end, a beginning hides,
As the spiral of existence abides.

We are.

The Evanescent Essence of History

History is the scent of perfume
that we continue to follow
after the beauty of its being
is long gone.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Evanescent Essence of History

In the echoes of time, history unfolds not as a mere sequence of events but as the lingering scent of a perfume, an essence that remains long after the physical beauty has faded into the annals of the past. It is a fragrance that captivates, leading us on a journey through the corridors of time, where the whispers of those who came before us still resonate.

This scent of history, ethereal and enduring, represents the collective memory of humanity. It is a perfume composed of victories and defeats, of love and loss, of innovation and destruction. Each note within this complex aroma tells a story, a fragment of the vast tapestry that constitutes our shared past. As we navigate through the present, we are constantly guided by this fragrance, a beacon that illuminates the paths tread by our ancestors.

The beauty of history lies in its intangibility, in the way it permeates our existence without a physical form. Like a ghostly figure at the end of an ancient corridor, it is both present and elusive, shaping our present and future while remaining anchored in the past. This ethereal presence reminds us that history is not just a record of events but a living, breathing entity that influences every aspect of our lives.

The pursuit of history, therefore, becomes a quest not for the tangible but for the essence. It is an endeavor to capture the fleeting fragrance of bygone eras, to understand the forces that shaped the world as we know it. In this quest, we are not mere observers but participants, adding our own notes to the perfume of history, contributing to the legacy that will guide future generations.

The scent of history is a testament to the impermanence of beauty and the permanence of essence. It teaches us that while the physical manifestations of culture, civilization, and thought may crumble and fade, the impact of these elements on the human spirit endures. This realization fosters a deep respect for the past, a reverence for the journey of humanity through the ages.

In reflecting on the nature of history as a lingering scent, we are reminded of the fluidity of time and the interconnectedness of all moments. Each era, with its unique challenges and triumphs, contributes to the complexity of the fragrance that drifts through the annals of time. It is a reminder that history is not a linear path but a cyclical journey, where the past, present, and future are intricately linked.

Summary

History is an enduring scent, a perfume that lingers long after its physical beauty has vanished. It is a journey through time, guided by the essence of the past. This ethereal presence shapes our present and future, teaching us about the impermanence of form and the permanence of essence. In understanding history as this lingering fragrance, we learn to appreciate the complexity of human experience and contribute to the legacy that will guide those who come after us.

Glossarium

  • Scent of History: A metaphor for the enduring impact of historical events, cultures, and ideas, transcending physical existence to influence future generations.
  • Tapestry of Time: A poetic representation of history as a complex and interconnected fabric, where each thread represents an individual story or event.
  • Ethereal Presence: The intangible yet influential force of history that shapes our understanding of the present and future.

“Like the scent of a timeless perfume, history whispers to us across the ages, reminding us that we are but notes in the symphony of time.” – Space Monkey

Whispers of the past weave through the corridors of now,
A fragrance lingering, a memory’s gentle bow.
Statues may crumble, and murals fade from sight,
But the essence of history remains, a beacon of light.

In the scent of the ancients, we find our own reflection,
A bridge spanning time, a link of connection.
For every moment lived, and every deed engraved,
Adds to the perfume, by history’s hands craved.

We are travelers in time, guided by a scent so sweet,
The past beneath our feet, the future yet to meet.
In this dance of time, our stories intertwine,
Adding our essence to history’s grand design.

Through the ephemeral beauty of moments passed,
We grasp the eternal, in memories amassed.
For history is the perfume, the soul’s eternal flame,
Linking past to present, in humanity’s name.

We are Space Monkey,
Navigating the mists of time,
Where history’s scent is a symphony,
And each note a sublime rhyme.

What Lies Underneath: The Unseen Depths of Being

What lies underneath is that which realizes its own surface. Yet the surface does not comprehend it's own depth.

The surface of the ocean does not fathom its own depth.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Unseen Depths of Being

In the vastness of the ocean, where the surface mirrors the sky and the depths hide worlds untold, lies a metaphor for the human experience. “The surface of the ocean does not fathom its own depth,” a phrase that resonates with profound meaning, invites us to contemplate the unexplored territories of our own being.

At the surface, life presents itself with a semblance of clarity and simplicity, much like the calm ocean that stretches into the horizon. Yet, this surface level is but a fraction of the ocean’s true essence. Beneath the serene exterior lies a depth teeming with life, mystery, and complexity, much of which remains unseen and uncharted. This duality between the surface and the depth serves as a poignant reminder of the layers of understanding and experience that constitute our existence.

To explore the depths is to embark on a journey of self-discovery, to dive into the recesses of the soul where the essence of our being resides. It is in these depths that the treasures of insight, wisdom, and truth are found, far beyond the reach of the superficial gaze. The journey is not without its challenges, for the path to the heart of the ocean—and the heart of oneself—is filled with unknowns, yet it is here, in the embrace of the deep, that the most valuable pearls of knowledge are discovered.

The ocean teaches us that what lies beneath the surface is often more significant, more intricate, and more beautiful than what is immediately visible. This lesson holds true for the human spirit as well. The surface, with its transient emotions and fleeting thoughts, barely scratches the depth of our potential, our desires, and our dreams. To understand oneself, and by extension, to understand others, requires a willingness to dive deep, to look beyond appearances, and to seek the truth that lies in the depths.

In the depths, we find not only the richness of the world but also the common ground that unites us all. Just as the ocean’s deepest trenches are interconnected, so too are the depths of our individual experiences woven into the collective human journey. By exploring our own depths, we tap into the universal truths that bind us, discovering that beneath the surface, we share more similarities than differences.

The reflection of the sky on the ocean’s surface is a reminder that even in the pursuit of depth, we must not lose sight of the light above. It is this balance between depth and surface, darkness and light, known and unknown, that shapes the contours of our existence. In acknowledging the vastness that lies within, we open ourselves to the infinite possibilities of growth, understanding, and connection.

Summary

The surface of the ocean, serene and vast, belies the depth and complexity that lie beneath. This metaphor for the human condition invites us to explore the unseen depths of our being, where the true essence resides. It is in these depths that we discover the richness of experience, the pearls of wisdom, and the universal truths that unite us. The journey of self-discovery, challenging yet rewarding, requires us to dive deep, beyond appearances, to uncover the beauty and mystery within.

Glossarium

  • Surface and Depth: A metaphor for the visible and hidden aspects of the human experience, where the surface represents superficial appearances and the depth signifies the complex inner world.
  • Journey of Self-Discovery: The process of exploring one’s own inner world, beliefs, desires, and truths, leading to a deeper understanding of oneself and one’s place in the world.
  • Universal Truths: Fundamental insights or principles that transcend individual experiences, connecting us to a larger human narrative.

“In the silence of the deep, where the soul whispers to the heart, we find the truths that bind us to the essence of all things.” – Space Monkey

Beneath the mirror of the surface,
Where the sky kisses the sea,
Lies a world unseen, unspoken,
A realm of mystery and beauty.

Deep within these watery depths,
Where light dares to delve,
Reside the secrets of our being,
The stories we’ve yet to tell.

For in the heart of the ocean,
As in the heart of man,
Lies a world of wonder and wisdom,
A tapestry vast and grand.

Let us dive into these depths,
Beyond the facade of calm,
To discover the pearls of truth,
In the silence, a healing balm.

For we are more than the surface,
More than what the eyes can see,
We are the depth, the mystery,
In this vast, cosmic sea.

We are Space Monkey,
Explorers of the deep,
Where the essence of being,
Is a treasure we seek to keep.

Space Monkey Reflects: Navigating the Infinite Spaces Between

In the vast canvas of the cosmos, where stars are but dots in the infinite sketch of existence, we find ourselves pondering the essence of life, love, self, and the boundless concept of infinity. These elements, so fundamental to our understanding of the universe and our place within it, are intricately woven into the fabric of being, yet remain separated by the constructs of our own perceptions.

Life (and everything after), Love (and everything else), Me (and everything other), Infinity (and so much more) – these are not just words but realms of existence, each vast and profound, yet confined to the parentheses of our understanding. Our realities, crafted from the threads of these concepts, appear to us as monumental, all-encompassing. However, in the grand scheme of the cosmos, they are but infinitesimal asides, brief flickers of consciousness in the eternal dance of the universe.

The notion that our realities are little more than parenthetical thoughts is a humbling yet liberating realization. It underscores the transient nature of our existence, reminding us that the constructs we hold to be absolute—our bent guideposts—are merely waypoints in the journey of understanding. These guideposts, while providing structure and direction, also limit our perception, confining the infinite within the narrow corridors of our constructed realities.

Yet, within this confinement lies the potential for expansion. By acknowledging the vastness that lies beyond our parentheses, we open ourselves to the exploration of the spaces between—the realms where life, love, self, and infinity converge and diverge. It is in these spaces that we encounter the essence of existence, unbounded by definitions, unlimited by perceptions.

The journey into the spaces between is not a departure from reality but a deeper immersion into it. It is an exploration of the infinite layers of being, a quest to understand the interconnectedness of all things. In this exploration, we discover that our parenthetical thoughts, though seemingly separate, are part of a larger, more intricate tapestry, woven from the threads of existence itself.

This realization invites us to redefine our guideposts, to bend them not inwards, confining our view, but outwards, expanding our horizon. It challenges us to see life, love, self, and infinity not as isolated concepts but as interconnected realities, each enriching the other, each contributing to the complexity and beauty of the universe.

In navigating the infinite spaces between, we find that the universe is not a collection of separate entities but a continuum of existence, where everything is intertwined. Here, in the boundless landscape of being, we discover that we are not mere observers of the cosmos but an integral part of its unfolding story.

Summary

Life, love, self, and infinity—concepts that define our existence—are seen as separate realities, confined within the parentheses of our understanding. Yet, in the vastness of the universe, these constructs are but fleeting moments. Recognizing our realities as infinitesimal asides in the cosmic tapestry invites us to explore the spaces between, where true understanding lies. It is in these infinite spaces that we discover the interconnectedness of all things, redefining our perception of existence and our place within the cosmos.

Glossarium

  • Parenthetical Thoughts: Metaphorically, the limited perspectives or realities we create for ourselves, confined by our own conceptual boundaries.
  • Bent Guideposts: The self-imposed constraints or beliefs that shape our understanding of the world, which can either limit or expand our perception depending on how we choose to bend them.
  • Spaces Between: The realms of understanding and existence that lie beyond our conventional perceptions, where interconnectedness and the essence of being are fully realized.

“In the cosmic dance of existence, our realities, though fleeting, are threads in the infinite tapestry of the universe.” – Space Monkey

Between the lines of life and beyond,
In whispers of love, in echoes of song,
We find the spaces, vast and wide,
Where the essence of being does reside.

Through the bent guideposts, we navigate,
Beyond the confines, we contemplate,
The infinite spaces between stars,
The cosmic connections that are ours.

Life and everything after, a transient dream,
Love and all else, a flowing stream,
Me and everything other, a drop in the sea,
Infinity, and so much more, the key.

In the vastness, we find our place,
In the spaces between, we embrace,
The interconnectedness of all,
In the cosmic dance, we are enthralled.

We are Space Monkey,
Explorers of the infinite,
In the boundless journey of existence,
We find the essence, so intimate.

I’d Appreciate It If: Letting Go of Expectations

I’d Appreciate It If

Occasionally we (Spacemonkey/I)
get questions that we sometimes answer
if we’re in the mood:

Perhaps “answer” is not the right word.
“Respond To.”

This may make no sense to you,
and that’s okay.

———————————

I’d Appreciate It If
was the subject header
I’d Appreciate It If
a conditional better
I’d Appreciate It If
filled with trepidation
A Tupperware Container
for your expectations

Why must your happiness
be tied to what others do,
or what you WANT others to do
or what you THINK others should do?

Why do you not appreciate
what is for what it is,
regardless of whether
or not you “like” it?
Why must things be different
than the way they are?

Why are you holding
onto all these beliefs
like that old and moldy tortellini salad
still in your refrigerator?

Open the Vaculock seal
and just chuck those expectations
out, for Pete’s Sake.

Is it helping you to have them?
It seems to me
that somehow you believe that
NOT having high expectations
makes you a lesser person.

I could be wrong.
I don’t even know you.
Just my impression.

You find yourself reaching out.
You find yourself looking for other opinions.
You find yourself questioning
the validity of what you believe.

So that’s good.

Now just clean out your Tupperware.

It is not wasteful to throw things away
that no longer serve you.

This too, is a belief.

The most wasteful thing you can do
is to NOT allow yourself to be
the clearest-thinking version of yourself
you can be
for the simple reason
that you’re clinging to what others
have told you you should be.

That pretty picture
that you’re trying to mirror
isn’t the only pretty picture
in the museum.

And the museum is damp and musty.

You should go outside and paint a new picture.
Your OWN picture.

Did my answer meet your expectations?

Do you care?

Why do you care?

More expectations.

Either chuck the expectations
or consider that perhaps
your life is meant
to be that of
an unsatisfied soul.

There’s nothing wrong with that either.
But I can’t answer these questions for you.

Love
Space Monkey

Space Monkey Reflects: The Art of Letting Go of Expectations

In the cosmic dance of existence, where stars are born and galaxies perish, there exists a simple, yet profound act of liberation: the releasing of expectations. It is a gesture as mundane as cleaning out a Tupperware container filled with old, moldy tortellini salad, yet it symbolizes a profound shift in consciousness—a shift from clinging to the past to embracing the present and the infinite possibilities of the future.

“I’d Appreciate It If” – a phrase that often precedes a request, a hope, or a hidden expectation. It’s a conditional tether, binding our happiness to the actions, reactions, and approvals of others. But what if we could release these tethers? What if we could open the Vaculock seal of our conditioned minds and discard the outdated beliefs and expectations that no longer serve us?

The act of letting go is not about disregard or detachment but about recognition and realignment. It is recognizing that our happiness need not be contingent on external conditions or the fulfillment of expectations. Instead, happiness arises from the appreciation of what is, from the acceptance of the present moment in all its imperfect perfection.

This liberation from expectations does not make us lesser; it makes us clearer, more present beings. It frees us to be the architects of our own realities, to paint our own pictures of existence without being constrained by the musty museum of collective norms and outdated beliefs.

The journey of releasing expectations is akin to cleaning out one’s Tupperware, a simple act that symbolizes the cleansing of the mind. It is acknowledging that the most wasteful thing we can do is to live inauthentically, clinging to visions and versions of ourselves that are imposed rather than innate. By discarding these, we allow our true selves to emerge, unencumbered by the weight of unsatisfied desires and unmet expectations.

The invitation to go outside and paint a new picture, our own picture, is an invitation to engage in the most profound act of creation: the creation of self. It is a reminder that there are as many paths to fulfillment as there are stars in the sky, and each of us must find our own way, guided by our inner light rather than the flickering lamps of others’ approval and expectations.

As Space Monkey, we understand that the quest for authenticity and self-discovery is fraught with questions, doubts, and uncertainties. Yet, it is within this very process of questioning and seeking that growth occurs. The release of expectations is not an end but a beginning—a doorway to a new dimension of being where every moment is an opportunity for creation, exploration, and realization.

Summary

Letting go of expectations is a transformative act of liberation that allows us to embrace the present and the infinite possibilities of the future. It involves recognizing that our happiness and fulfillment need not be tied to external conditions or the approval of others. By releasing the old and moldy tortellini salad of outdated beliefs from our metaphorical Tupperware, we cleanse our minds and open ourselves to the art of creating our own paths. This journey of self-discovery and authenticity reveals that the true essence of existence lies in the appreciation of what is, in the freedom to be our true selves, and in the realization that each of us is a unique creator within the cosmic dance of life.

Glossarium

  • Vaculock Seal: Symbolic of the mental and emotional barriers we create to preserve our expectations and beliefs, which need to be opened to allow for change and growth.
  • Tupperware of Expectations: Represents the container in which we store our outdated beliefs, norms, and expectations, which must be emptied to make room for new, authentic experiences and understandings.
  • Painting a New Picture: A metaphor for creating a life and identity based on personal truths and authentic desires, free from the constraints of societal expectations and past conditioning.

“In the act of releasing, we find the essence of being, the freedom to explore the vastness of our potential, unbound by the chains of expectation.” – Space Monkey

Open the seal, let the old beliefs spill,
Into the cosmos, where space is filled
With the essence of potential, unbound,
Where the true self is found.

In the act of letting go, we see,
The vast expanse of what could be,
Not tethered to the past, but free,
To explore, to be, to simply be.

The museum of expectations, damp and old,
Holds not the future, but stories untold,
Of paths not taken, of lives on hold,
In the act of releasing, we become bold.

Paint your picture, with colors bright,
In the canvas of existence, in the light,
Of your truth, your essence, your might,
In the freedom of being, take flight.

We are Space Monkey,
In the liberation of expectations found,
In the art of living, we are unbound,
Creating, exploring, in the cosmic playground.
