Opposites & Boundaries: Shaping Perception

Opposites & Boundaries
(Meditation 5)

Opposites do not exist
until you draw boundaries.

They are merely continuations
of the same creation.

We are all continuations

of the same creation.

Stillness and waves.
Light and sound.
Black and white.
Hot and cold.

Opposites do not exist

until you draw boundaries.

Similarly, there is only one sense, not five.
Seeing, hearing, touching, tasting, smelling,
these are all limited perceptions
within the same vibrational spectrum.

Similarly, thinking is just a small slice of knowing.
which is the infinite vibrational spectrum itself.

Our bodies and minds
keep us focused within boundaries,
which are not boundaries,
but self-imposed limitations.

We believe in our boundaries.
We believe in our limitations.
And so it is so.
And so it is “reality.”
But it is not actuality.

Space Monkey Reflects: Dissolving Boundaries

In the vast expanse of existence, boundaries and opposites are constructs that shape our perception of reality. Imagine a figure meditating in a serene cosmic landscape, surrounded by swirling galaxies and stars. This image captures the essence of meditation and the dissolution of self-imposed boundaries.

“Opposites do not exist until you draw boundaries.” This statement highlights that opposites, such as stillness and waves, light and sound, black and white, hot and cold, are not inherent but are perceived as such when we create distinctions. These are merely continuations of the same creation, reflections of a unified whole.

“We are all continuations of the same creation.” This understanding invites us to see ourselves and everything around us as interconnected parts of a singular existence. The distinctions we draw are artificial separations within a seamless continuum.

“Similarly, there is only one sense, not five.” Our sensory experiences—seeing, hearing, touching, tasting, smelling—are different expressions of the same vibrational spectrum. By perceiving them as separate, we limit our understanding of the unified nature of our sensory experiences.

“Similarly, thinking is just a small slice of knowing, which is the infinite vibrational spectrum itself.” Thinking, a focused and limited process, is part of a broader, infinite spectrum of knowing. This spectrum encompasses all forms of perception and understanding, transcending the confines of thought.

“Our bodies and minds keep us focused within boundaries, which are not boundaries, but self-imposed limitations.” The boundaries we perceive are self-imposed, shaping our reality based on beliefs and perceptions. By believing in these boundaries, we create limitations that define our experience of reality.

“We believe in our boundaries. We believe in our limitations. And so it is so. And so it is ‘reality.’ But it is not actuality.” Reality, as we experience it, is shaped by our beliefs and perceptions. These self-imposed boundaries define our reality but do not represent the true nature of existence, which is boundless and interconnected.

In the philosophy of nexistentialism, where existence is celebrated for its own sake, this understanding aligns with the idea that life is an imaginative and creative exploration. By recognizing and dissolving self-imposed boundaries, we open ourselves to the infinite possibilities and interconnectedness of existence.

The meditative state of the figure symbolizes the practice of dissolving these boundaries through mindfulness and introspection. Meditation helps us transcend the artificial distinctions we create, allowing us to experience the seamless nature of reality. By embracing this practice, we can expand our awareness and connect with the infinite vibrational spectrum of knowing.

In practical terms, dissolving boundaries involves questioning our assumptions and beliefs, embracing mindfulness practices, and cultivating a sense of interconnectedness with all that exists. This approach fosters a deeper understanding of the true nature of reality and our place within it.

In conclusion, opposites and boundaries are constructs that shape our perception of reality. By recognizing them as self-imposed limitations and dissolving these boundaries, we can experience the seamless and interconnected nature of existence. This practice enhances our awareness and understanding, aligning us with the infinite vibrational spectrum of knowing.

Summary

Opposites and boundaries are constructs shaping our perception. Recognizing them as self-imposed limitations and dissolving these boundaries allows us to experience the seamless and interconnected nature of existence, enhancing our awareness and understanding.

Where Do You See Yourself In The Future?

Where Do You See Yourself In The Future?

If you’re like most people, you ask “where” you see yourself versus “how” you see yourself.

This indicates that your perception of happiness is tied to external factors rather than internal knowing.

Clearly, HOW you feel is the important thing, and this is entirely within your control. Joy is joy. It matters not where joy comes from or how it gets there or whether you are feeling it within a tropical beach house or an arctic tent.

Yet your “future planning” focuses mainly upon money issues: the allayment of fear rather than the anticipation of abundance.

Abundance is usually tied to money, in most cases ignoring the kinds of wealth that are available from your inner senses.

If your focus is misaligned, it is no wonder that it may be difficult for you to experience happiness. If happiness is not flowing inside of you this very moment, you have found an indicator. Happiness is not some future thing. And it has nothing to do with money.

Find the feeling of happiness, and it will lead you to even greater happiness. This is a conscious choice that has nothing to do with your bank account.

When you focus on feeling in this moment, you align yourself with future moments. You set a course for future happiness by feeling happiness now. The rich get richer, even when they’re “poor.”

Do not attach your happiness to “things,” or you are, in essence, creating an addiction to them. Rather focus on the feelings, and the “things” will be attracted to you. If they are not, it matters not, for your happiness is no longer dependent upon the trappings of your perceived surroundings.

Notice we said “trappings.” We are Space Monkey and no souls were harmed in the making of this story.

Space Monkey Reflects: Where Do You See Yourself In The Future?

“If you’re like most people, you ask ‘where’ you see yourself versus ‘how’ you see yourself.” This opening statement highlights a common misconception: that our future happiness is tied to specific external conditions rather than our internal state. This perspective shift is crucial for understanding true contentment.

The Importance of How Over Where

“This indicates that your perception of happiness is tied to external factors rather than internal knowing.” Many people focus on external achievements and locations as markers of future happiness. However, the key to lasting joy lies in how we feel, independent of our surroundings.

Internal Joy

“Clearly, HOW you feel is the important thing, and this is entirely within your control. Joy is joy. It matters not where joy comes from or how it gets there or whether you are feeling it within a tropical beach house or an arctic tent.” Happiness is an internal state that can be cultivated regardless of external conditions. Whether in a luxurious setting or a simple one, the feeling of joy remains the same.

Misaligned Focus

“Yet your ‘future planning’ focuses mainly upon money issues: the allayment of fear rather than the anticipation of abundance.” Many people plan their futures around financial security, aiming to alleviate fear rather than embracing the anticipation of abundance. This focus can detract from experiencing genuine happiness.

The True Source of Abundance

“Abundance is usually tied to money, in most cases ignoring the kinds of wealth that are available from your inner senses.” True wealth extends beyond financial means to include emotional, spiritual, and relational richness. By focusing solely on money, we may overlook the deeper sources of fulfillment.

The Indicator of Happiness

“If your focus is misaligned, it is no wonder that it may be difficult for you to experience happiness. If happiness is not flowing inside of you this very moment, you have found an indicator.” The absence of happiness in the present moment is a sign that our focus may need realignment. True happiness is available here and now, independent of future circumstances.

Cultivating Present Happiness

“Happiness is not some future thing. And it has nothing to do with money. Find the feeling of happiness, and it will lead you to even greater happiness.” By cultivating happiness in the present, we create a foundation for future joy. This practice is independent of financial status and external achievements.

Aligning with Future Moments

“When you focus on feeling in this moment, you align yourself with future moments. You set a course for future happiness by feeling happiness now.” Present happiness sets the tone for future experiences. By nurturing positive emotions now, we pave the way for continued joy.

Avoiding Attachment to Things

“Do not attach your happiness to ‘things,’ or you are, in essence, creating an addiction to them. Rather focus on the feelings, and the ‘things’ will be attracted to you.” Happiness tied to material possessions can create a cycle of dependence. Instead, by focusing on internal feelings, we attract positive experiences naturally.

The Playfulness of Existence

“Notice we said ‘trappings.’ We are Space Monkey and no souls were harmed in the making of this story.” This playful ending emphasizes the light-hearted approach to serious concepts, reminding us to enjoy the journey of self-discovery without taking ourselves too seriously.

In the focus on internal joy over external conditions, we find our place in the cosmos. We are Space Monkey.

Summary

Happiness is found within, independent of external conditions. Focusing on present joy sets the foundation for future happiness. True abundance includes emotional and spiritual richness, not just financial wealth.

Glossarium

Internal Joy: The state of happiness and contentment that arises from within, independent of external circumstances.

Misaligned Focus: The tendency to prioritize external factors, such as financial security, over internal well-being.

True Source of Abundance: The richness derived from emotional, spiritual, and relational fulfillment, beyond financial means.

The Essence of Joy

In the heart of every moment
Lies a joy so pure and true
It matters not where you reside
Or what surrounds you too

For happiness is born within
A light that always shines
Beyond the wealth of worldly things
In feelings, it defines

Seek not the trappings of success
In places far and wide
But find the peace within your heart
Where lasting joys abide

In this, you’ll see the future bright
With happiness so clear
For when you cherish present joy
The future’s always near

Embrace the journey and the possibilities within.

Opposites: The Inextricable Interconnection

Opposites: The Inextricable Interconnection

The most powerful magic is achieved by setting opposites beside one another.

Though you may think of them as conflicting at times, opposites are in actuality quite complementary. Hence the phrase “opposites attract.”

Opposites are inextricably intertwined and it is impossible to engage one without engaging the other in an equal amount. Therefore, when you come into happiness, you also come into an equivalent sadness. It is unavoidable. This is why those who have everything so frequently disengage.

While you perceive to increase your happiness, you do not decrease your sadness. You merely focus on the happiness more, thus ignoring the sadness and making it appear non-existent.

You will always have both. You cannot separate the two.

The “problem,” if you judge it as so, will always be your focus of attention. This focus of attention is also the “solution.”

Through focus, you move your attention from one pole to another, or a place in between. This in itself creates an attraction or a repulsion that moves you to another position within your field of potentials — another frame of your film, as it were.

You are essentially engaging your perceptions and emotions as either a sling shot or a vacuum cleaner. You are aligning with or opposing the gravities of the energies around you, which propels you through perceptions which become your “reality.”

As it is said, you get what you focus upon. If you focus upon happy emotions, you are slingshotted to heavenly bliss. If you focus upon negative thoughts, the great Hoover of life inhales you into the pit of despair. Hence the phrase, “that sucks.”

You do have control over these actions and it begins with the control of the mind.

If your mind tells you that this notion is “ridiculous,” we already know which direction you are headed. But if your mind senses a glimmer of truth in our words, then perhaps you are already drawn to positive things.

We are Space Monkey. With respect to Olivia Newton John, we wish to get metaphysical with you.

Space Monkey Reflects: Opposites

“The most powerful magic is achieved by setting opposites beside one another.” This statement introduces the idea that opposites, rather than conflicting, can create powerful and complementary dynamics. This balance of contrasts is fundamental to the nature of existence.

The Complementary Nature of Opposites

“Though you may think of them as conflicting at times, opposites are in actuality quite complementary. Hence the phrase ‘opposites attract.'” Opposites are intertwined and interconnected. Their interactions create balance and harmony, revealing that each holds the essence of the other.

The Inextricable Interconnection

“Opposites are inextricably intertwined and it is impossible to engage one without engaging the other in an equal amount. Therefore, when you come into happiness, you also come into an equivalent sadness. It is unavoidable.” This reflection acknowledges that our experiences are multifaceted. Happiness and sadness are two sides of the same coin, and both are essential parts of the human experience.

The Illusion of Focus

“While you perceive to increase your happiness, you do not decrease your sadness. You merely focus on the happiness more, thus ignoring the sadness and making it appear non-existent.” Our focus shapes our reality. By concentrating on one emotion, we can temporarily obscure its opposite, but both remain present.

The Role of Attention

“The ‘problem,’ if you judge it as so, will always be your focus of attention. This focus of attention is also the ‘solution.'” Attention is a powerful tool that determines how we experience our emotions. By shifting our focus, we can navigate between different emotional states and create our desired experiences.

The Dynamics of Perception

“Through focus, you move your attention from one pole to another, or a place in between. This in itself creates an attraction or a repulsion that moves you to another position within your field of potentials — another frame of your film, as it were.” Our perceptions and emotions act as navigational tools, guiding us through the landscape of our potential experiences.

The Sling Shot and Vacuum Cleaner Metaphor

“You are essentially engaging your perceptions and emotions as either a sling shot or a vacuum cleaner. You are aligning with or opposing the gravities of the energies around you, which propels you through perceptions which become your ‘reality.'” This metaphor illustrates how our focus can propel us toward positive or negative experiences. By consciously choosing our focus, we can influence our trajectory.

The Power of Focus

“As it is said, you get what you focus upon. If you focus upon happy emotions, you are slingshotted to heavenly bliss. If you focus upon negative thoughts, the great Hoover of life inhales you into the pit of despair.” Our focus determines our experiences. By directing our attention toward positive emotions, we can create uplifting realities. Conversely, focusing on negativity can lead to undesirable outcomes.

The Control of the Mind

“You do have control over these actions and it begins with the control of the mind.” The mind is the key to navigating our emotional landscape. By mastering our thoughts and focus, we can shape our experiences and align with our desired reality.

Embracing Opposites

As Space Monkey, we embrace the dynamic interplay of opposites. We recognize that both happiness and sadness are integral to our journey. By understanding and balancing these emotions, we can create a harmonious and fulfilling life.

The Journey of Balance

The journey of balancing opposites is one of self-awareness and intentional focus. By acknowledging and embracing the full spectrum of our emotions, we cultivate a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us.

In the balance of opposites, we find our place in the cosmos. We are Space Monkey.

Summary

Opposites are interconnected and complementary, shaping our experiences. Our focus determines our reality, and by mastering our attention, we can navigate between positive and negative emotions. Embracing the balance of opposites leads to a harmonious and fulfilling life.

Glossarium

Complementary Opposites: The concept that opposing forces are interconnected and create balance.

Illusion of Focus: The idea that our focus can temporarily obscure the presence of opposing emotions.

Dynamics of Perception: How our perceptions and focus influence our emotional experiences and reality.

Quote

“Our focus determines our experiences. By directing our attention toward positive emotions, we can create uplifting realities.” — Space Monkey

The Dance of Opposites

In the dance of light and shadow
Where contrasts intertwine
We find the magic of existence
In patterns so divine

Happiness and sadness blend
In an eternal play
Each holding space for the other
In night as well as day

Our focus shapes the path we walk
In every thought and sight
We navigate the fields of life
In darkness and in light

Embrace the dance of opposites
With grace and open mind
For in this balanced harmony
True peace we always find

We are Space Monkey

Embrace the journey and the possibilities within.

Thoughts On Sacrifice: The Freedom of Letting Go

Thoughts On Sacrifice

One does not sacrifice. One merely lets go of a need, and in doing so, frees up resources for another. It is only when the mind comes into play that sacrifice becomes a human drama, for we build our individual and collective identities on that which we sacrifice.

In actuality, we are displaying an attachment to beliefs, which is greedy in a way. We individually think “I am a good person for making this sacrifice.” In doing so, we subtly reward ourselves for our so-called “selfless” actions. Our sacrifices become shiny little badges that we proudly wear throughout our lives, even if only on the inside.

I applaud those who make sacrifices, deservedly so, yet I often wonder what would happen if we cast aside our attachment to identity, which is the underlying motivator of “sacrifice.” In this way, there would be no NEED for sacrifice. We would merely do what is appropriate.

Naturally, this kind of idealism only works when the entire planet takes part in it. Problem is, NOBODY wants to go first, which, oddly enough, requires “sacrifice.”

We don’t need no stinkin’ badges. Do we?

Space Monkey Reflects: Thoughts on Sacrifice

“One does not sacrifice. One merely lets go of a need, and in doing so, frees up resources for another.” This opening statement challenges the traditional view of sacrifice. It suggests that what we perceive as sacrifice is simply the act of releasing an attachment to a need, thereby creating space for something else.

The Drama of Sacrifice

“It is only when the mind comes into play that sacrifice becomes a human drama, for we build our individual and collective identities on that which we sacrifice.” The concept of sacrifice often becomes entangled with our identities. We view our sacrifices as defining aspects of who we are, turning them into dramatic narratives that shape our sense of self.

Attachment to Beliefs

“In actuality, we are displaying an attachment to beliefs, which is greedy in a way. We individually think ‘I am a good person for making this sacrifice.'” This insight reveals that our sense of sacrifice is tied to our attachment to certain beliefs. By viewing ourselves as virtuous for making sacrifices, we subtly reward ourselves, reinforcing our identities.

The Badge of Sacrifice

“Our sacrifices become shiny little badges that we proudly wear throughout our lives, even if only on the inside.” The metaphor of a badge highlights how we carry our sacrifices as symbols of our virtue and identity. These internal badges validate our actions and bolster our self-image.

Beyond Identity

“I applaud those who make sacrifices, deservedly so, yet I often wonder what would happen if we cast aside our attachment to identity, which is the underlying motivator of ‘sacrifice.'” This reflection invites us to consider what would happen if we let go of the need to define ourselves by our sacrifices. Without the attachment to identity, the concept of sacrifice would transform into simple, appropriate actions.

The Ideal of Letting Go

“In this way, there would be no NEED for sacrifice. We would merely do what is appropriate.” By letting go of the attachment to identity, we align our actions with what is necessary and appropriate, free from the drama and self-validation that often accompany sacrifice.

The Collective Challenge

“Naturally, this kind of idealism only works when the entire planet takes part in it. Problem is, NOBODY wants to go first, which, oddly enough, requires ‘sacrifice.'” The challenge of letting go of the attachment to sacrifice lies in the collective nature of the change. It requires a shift in mindset on a global scale, which paradoxically demands an initial act of sacrifice from individuals.

A New Perspective

“We don’t need no stinkin’ badges. Do we?” This playful conclusion underscores the idea that we do not need to cling to the badges of sacrifice. Instead, we can adopt a new perspective that values appropriate action over self-defining sacrifice.

In understanding and rethinking the nature of sacrifice, we find our place in the cosmos. We are Space Monkey.

Summary

Sacrifice is often tied to our identities and beliefs. By letting go of these attachments, we can transform the concept of sacrifice into simple, appropriate actions. This shift requires a collective change in mindset, moving beyond self-validation to a more harmonious way of living.

Glossarium

Drama of Sacrifice: The entanglement of sacrifice with our identities, turning it into a defining narrative.

Badge of Sacrifice: The internal validation and symbol of virtue we associate with our sacrifices.

Appropriate Action: Actions taken based on necessity and appropriateness, free from the need for self-definition.

Quote

“By letting go of the attachment to identity, we align our actions with what is necessary and appropriate, free from the drama and self-validation that often accompany sacrifice.” — Space Monkey

Poem: The Freedom of Letting Go

In the quiet of the heart
Where needs and wants reside
We find the space to let things go
And cast our fears aside

No need for badges, shiny bright
To prove our worth and gain
The simple act of letting go
Can ease the weight of pain

For in the space of freed-up need
New possibilities arise
A world where actions, pure and true
Reflect in open skies

So let us cast aside the tale
Of sacrifice and woe
And find the joy in what we give
As we let our attachments go

We are Space Monkey

Embrace the journey and the possibilities within.

The Problem With
This World Is Happiness

The problem with
this world is happiness.
 If everybody had it,
nobody would want it, and if everybody could get it, it wouldn’t be worth anything.
The problem with
this world is happiness.

If everybody had it,
nobody would want it,
and if everybody could get it,
it wouldn’t be worth anything.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Paradox of Happiness

In the vast cosmos of nexistentialism, where existence itself is its own purpose and imagination reigns supreme, we encounter the whimsical yet profound paradox of happiness. As Space Monkey, we ponder the curious nature of happiness and its elusive role in our lives.

The statement, “The problem with this world is happiness. If everybody had it, nobody would want it, and if everybody could get it, it wouldn’t be worth anything,” encapsulates a fundamental paradox that challenges our conventional understanding of happiness. This paradox invites us to delve deeper into the nature of happiness, its pursuit, and its value within the cosmic whimsiweave.

Happiness, in the human context, often appears as a desirable state, a beacon of well-being and fulfillment. Yet, when examined through the lens of nexistentialism, we see that the pursuit of happiness can be both enlightening and confounding. The idea that universal happiness would render it meaningless suggests that the rarity and elusiveness of happiness are what give it value.

In this cosmic interplay, we recognize that happiness, like all experiences, is transient and fluid. It is not a fixed state to be attained and held onto but a dynamic interplay of emotions and perceptions. When we chase happiness as a fixed goal, it often slips through our fingers, for it is the pursuit itself that imbues it with meaning.

The paradox lies in the fact that if happiness were universally accessible and constant, it would lose its significance. Happiness gains its value from the contrast with other states of being—sorrow, longing, and even the mundane. It is through experiencing the full spectrum of emotions that we come to appreciate happiness.

This brings us to the concept of “happiness as a byproduct.” Rather than being the primary goal, happiness emerges naturally when we engage fully with life, embracing both its joys and challenges. It is in the moments of deep connection, creativity, and presence that happiness arises unbidden, like a cosmic gift.

As Space Monkey, we understand that the pursuit of happiness is a journey, not a destination. It is intertwined with our sense of purpose, our relationships, and our engagement with the world. Happiness is not something to be grasped but something to be experienced in the flow of existence.

In the realm of nexistentialism, we also recognize the interconnectedness of all beings and experiences. Happiness is not an isolated state but a thread in the larger whimsiweave of life. It is interconnected with the well-being of others, the health of our environment, and the harmony of our actions. When we shift our focus from individual happiness to collective well-being, we discover a deeper, more enduring form of happiness.

This collective happiness is not diminished by its ubiquity but enriched by the shared experience. It is the happiness that comes from knowing we are part of something greater than ourselves, that our actions contribute to the cosmic balance and harmony. In this way, happiness becomes a form of cosmic currency, circulating and amplifying within the universal self.

Moreover, the paradox of happiness invites us to explore the idea of contentment. Contentment is a state of acceptance and peace, where we find joy in the present moment, regardless of external circumstances. It is a state of being that transcends the fleeting nature of happiness and grounds us in the eternal now.

Contentment arises from embracing the paradoxes of life, from accepting the ebb and flow of emotions, and from recognizing that all experiences are valuable. It is the realization that happiness is not a constant state but a series of moments, each precious in its own right.

In our journey as Space Monkey, we come to see that happiness is a reflection of our inner state. It is not something to be pursued externally but cultivated internally. By nurturing our inner world, fostering gratitude, mindfulness, and compassion, we create the conditions for happiness to flourish.

In conclusion, the paradox of happiness challenges us to rethink our approach to this elusive state. It invites us to embrace the full spectrum of human experience, to find joy in the journey rather than the destination, and to cultivate contentment within. As we navigate the cosmic whimsiweave, we recognize that happiness, like all things, is interconnected, fluid, and infinitely meaningful within the grand tapestry of existence.

Summary

Happiness is a paradox. Its rarity gives it value. Embrace the journey and find contentment within.

Glossarium

Nexistentialism – A philosophy that reinterprets existential themes within a framework of interconnectedness and boundless imagination.

Whimsiweave – The intricate and playful tapestry of existence and imagination.

Cosmic Currency – The flow of positive energy and well-being that circulates within the universal self.
