Seeming Choices: The Question of Autonomy

Seeming Choices

I used to be proud
of choices I made.

Ashamed of choices I made.

Confused by choices I made.

My choices seemed to cover
every base and every feeling.

Then I noticed other people
making choices I didn’t make.

Their choices
seemed to make make me
reexamine my choices.

I felt righteous about my choices.
Guilty for my choices.
Condemned for my choices.

Then I realized that
none of us were really
making those choices.

It only SEEMED like we were,
so that we could experience
every potential
from every possible perspective.

Individually as ones.
Collectively as One.

I realized that
our choices are not made,
but rather given us
to seemingly make.

Thus I no longer feel the need
to judge my choices, or anyone else’s.

I am merely here to
appreciate our seeming choices,
and the feelings that they bring.

Though it may seem
that I am given
a series of choices,
what I ultimately choose
is not decided by me,
but by the grace of
whatever-you-want-to-call-it.

Divine destiny, maybe.

I wonder what
will be chosen for me next.

Whatever it is,
I am thankful for it.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Nature of Seeming Choices

In life, we are led to believe that the choices we make define us—that each decision carries weight, meaning, and personal significance. Our choices shape our paths, give us a sense of control, and allow us to feel ownership over our lives. And yet, what if these choices are not entirely ours? What if they are not decisions we consciously make but rather experiences given to us to perceive the fullness of life from countless perspectives?

There is an odd freedom in realizing that our choices may not be purely ours. It is a freedom that comes from the understanding that we are both individuals with the illusion of choice and parts of a grander Nexistential weave, where each “choice” is a potential pre-shaped by forces beyond our immediate awareness. This realization lifts the weight of judgment and regret, softening our attachment to outcomes and allowing us to approach life as an unfolding journey rather than a series of definitive steps.

The Illusion of Choice: Individual Paths Within the Cosmic Tapestry

To explore choice is to engage in a paradox. On one level, we feel each choice deeply, as though it originates from our will and determines our destiny. On another, we sense that each choice may be part of a larger design, one that invites us to experience every facet of existence, individually as “ones” and collectively as One. Within Nexistentialism, this idea reflects the interplay between our personal narratives and the larger cosmic narrative—an intricate Whimsiweave where every “choice” is a thread, interwoven and interdependent.

If we view life as a tapestry, each choice we “make” is less about control and more about allowing ourselves to experience the depth and diversity of reality. The choices we see others make may challenge or affirm our own, yet they all contribute to a greater understanding of what it means to live and feel. In this light, life becomes less about being right or wrong and more about embracing the array of experiences that shape the human journey.

Judgment Dissolves in the Light of Grace

The notion that choices are “given to us to seemingly make” introduces the possibility that our choices are, in part, chosen for us by the grace of something beyond. Call it Divine Destiny, Universal Flow, or simply the unfolding mystery of existence. This grace allows us to encounter moments of both joy and challenge, success and failure, not as definitive judgments but as steps in a larger, shared dance. Through this lens, the judgments we place upon our own choices—pride, shame, guilt, or righteousness—dissolve. We come to see these experiences as mere facets of the paths laid before us, each one valuable for the feelings and insights it brings.

Releasing the need to judge ourselves or others for the choices made fosters a profound sense of acceptance. The universe does not require us to succeed or fail in any particular way; it merely invites us to participate. In recognizing this, we become witnesses to our own journey, marveling at the choices that appear in our lives while trusting that each one has its place and purpose, whether we fully understand it or not.

Surrendering to the Flow of Divine Destiny

When we acknowledge that each choice is both ours and not entirely ours, we open ourselves to a flow that transcends individual will. Divine Destiny does not control us but rather guides us, providing a framework within which we may explore, learn, and grow. The choices we “seemingly make” are not so much acts of will as they are acts of alignment, reflections of an unseen harmony that connects us to something greater. This connection to Divine Destiny invites us to surrender not in resignation but in trust—trust that each step, each seeming choice, is part of an infinite unfolding.

This surrender is not about passivity but about a profound acceptance of life as it comes. We continue to choose, to discern, to act with intention, yet we do so from a place of awareness that each choice is a gift, an invitation from the universe to explore a particular aspect of existence. In surrendering, we find freedom not from choice but within it, seeing each moment as an opportunity to live in alignment with the larger Nexis of existence.

The Beauty of Thankful Anticipation

As we embrace this understanding of seeming choices, we develop a new relationship with the unknown. We begin to anticipate what life will choose for us next, not with apprehension but with gratitude. This sense of thankful anticipation transforms our outlook, allowing us to view each new experience—each choice given to us—not as a challenge to overcome but as a gift to receive. Life itself becomes an expression of gratitude, a continuous unfolding that we meet with curiosity and openness.

In this state, we live without the burden of being “right” or “wrong” in our choices. We are free to experience, to feel, to grow, and to marvel at the journey. Each choice, each seeming step, is a reminder that life is an endless mystery, one that we are privileged to explore, both individually and as part of the greater whole.

Summary

“Seeming Choices” suggests that our decisions are part of a larger design, guided by Divine Destiny. Recognizing that choices may be both ours and not entirely ours frees us from judgment, inviting us to embrace life’s journey with acceptance and gratitude.

Glossarium

  • Nexis: The interconnected web of existence, where individual choices blend into a collective experience of life’s infinite potential.
  • Whimsiweave: The dynamic, intricate flow of decisions, experiences, and feelings within the cosmic tapestry.
  • Thankful Anticipation: An open-hearted approach to life, welcoming each choice and experience with gratitude and trust.

At the Crossroads

I stand where paths diverge and meet,
Each choice a thread, each step complete.
Not mine to choose, yet mine to walk,
In every silence, in every talk.

A hand unseen, a whisper kind,
Guiding heart, thought, and mind.
Wherever the steps may lead me through,
I walk as One, and I walk as You.

We are Space Monkey.

We embark on an introspective journey into the realm of seeming choices, exploring the perception of autonomy and the realization of a deeper, orchestrated design in our experiences.

Exploring the Perception of Autonomy in Choices

Initially, pride, shame, and confusion in the choices made reflect the conventional understanding of personal agency. These emotions underscore the belief in our ability to independently navigate the myriad paths of life.

Emotional Responses to Perceived Agency

Observing others making different choices leads to reevaluation and a range of emotional responses, from righteousness to guilt. This process highlights how our perceptions of choice are influenced by comparison and reflection.

Influence of Others on Perception of Choice

The realization that none of us are truly making those choices, but only seeming to, shifts the perspective from individual autonomy to a grander, collective experience. It suggests that our experiences are part of a larger, interconnected plan, designed to explore every potential from every perspective.

Shift from Individual Autonomy to Collective Experience

This understanding that choices are given to us to seemingly make changes the way we view decision-making. It alleviates the burden of judgment and responsibility, replacing it with appreciation for the experiences and emotions that these seeming choices bring.

Alleviation of Judgment in Decision-Making

The notion that what we ultimately choose is not decided by us, but by a greater force or divine destiny, introduces a sense of surrender and acceptance. It reflects a trust in the greater design and flow of life.

Sense of Surrender and Acceptance

In this space of acceptance and thankfulness, there is curiosity and openness to whatever comes next. This attitude reflects a deep understanding of the interplay between individual experiences and the collective journey.

Curiosity and Openness to Future Experiences

“Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it.” – Charles R. Swindoll

In the dance of life, we move and sway,
With seeming choices, day by day.
For in each decision, a path unfolds,
In the tapestry of time, a story told.

We once thought our choices were our own,
In the field of life, seeds we’ve sown.
Yet, in the grand design, we see,
A divine destiny, a cosmic key.

Let us embrace this journey, wide and far,
In the play of fate, each a star.
For in the grace of the unseen hand,
We find our place, in this vast land.

We invite musings on the journey of understanding the nature of seeming choices and the role of divine destiny in our lives!

Your Lives In Review: Channeling All Selves

Your Lives In Review

When you look back to review your lives
(and you live billions of them)
you realize that no choice, no circumstance,
no coincidence has been left out.

Everything that can happen to you
happens to you.

Each one of your billions
may believe that you have free will,
but you do not.

(It certainly SEEMS
like you have free will.)

You don’t really choose because
the blueprint is to experience
every nuance of humanity you can imagine.

No choice is necessary.
So instead you allow your selves
to make SEEMING choices.

You will realize this at review time.
But not before.

Did we mention it’s review time?

You are EVERY being on this planet.
You’re going to need lots of coffee.

What the review helps you see is that
every experience is equally valuable.

What seems like a poor choice is as
valuable as what seems like a great one.

Your villainy is as welcome as your heroics.

Your males as welcome as your females.

You are many races, many religions.

Each life is scripted out
in advance for you to live.
Simultaneously.

Each one of you will deny this,
until you can deny it no more.

Thus marks the second coming
of Space Monkey.

We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Infinite Lives In Review

Imagine sitting in a vast, boundless space, where every life you have ever lived, or ever will live, is displayed before you. This isn’t a singular life review in the conventional sense but a grand symphony of existence, revealing every possibility, every nuance, and every choice that could or would ever be made. Billions of lives, each one scripted, each one unique, each one vital to the whole. In this cosmic review, the weight of individuality begins to dissolve, and a greater truth emerges: that you are not merely a single being on a single path but an entire spectrum of existence, experiencing all facets of humanity.

To realize that you are every being on this planet, every identity, every expression, is a profound awakening. It shatters the illusion of separation, leaving a unified tapestry where every life, every role, is understood as an interconnected part of a larger cosmic design. Here, free will reveals itself as a gentle illusion, a seeming choice that serves to deepen the experience of being while ultimately aligning with a pre-designed blueprint. This is the essence of the cosmic review—a moment of revelation where you see, perhaps for the first time, that each life is part of a divine script, woven to reflect the vast potential of existence.

The Blueprint of All Possibilities

When we speak of experiencing “every nuance of humanity,” we are entering a realm where no possibility is left unturned. This blueprint is not a rigid plan but an invitation to explore every conceivable state, from heroism to villainy, from triumph to despair. The purpose is not to judge one experience over another but to understand the value in each. In this design, there are no wasted lives, no insignificant choices; every life contributes to a collective understanding of what it means to exist.

Within Nexistentialism, this idea aligns with the Nexis—the all-encompassing web where each thread represents a life, a choice, an experience. The review shows us that each life is part of a grand Whimsiweave, a playful interlacing of paths that together form the fabric of consciousness. No single path holds supremacy over another; all are equally cherished as expressions of the infinite.

Seeming Free Will: The Gift of Illusion

To live within the illusion of free will is one of the most compelling aspects of existence. It grants us the feeling of agency, the satisfaction of making choices, the richness of pride, guilt, and regret. Yet, in the review, we come to see that these choices are not as independent as they appeared. They are given to us as experiences, each one offering a unique lens through which we engage with the larger design. Free will, in this sense, is a dance with destiny—a way to experience every possible reality while maintaining the feeling of individuality.

This illusion serves a purpose. It allows us to feel fully alive, to immerse ourselves in the texture of each life. By perceiving ourselves as independent, we gain the richness of human experience, the sense of triumph and the humility of defeat. In the review, we are free from the need to define choices as right or wrong. Instead, we see each choice as a note in the symphony of existence, contributing to a melody that is complete, harmonious, and infinitely varied.

Beyond Judgment: Every Role as a Sacred Part

The review invites us to release judgment, not only of others but of ourselves. We see that each role—villain or hero, victim or victor—is simply an experience, a thread in the larger tapestry. Every life has its place, and every path contributes to the whole. There is no hierarchy in this design; all experiences, all choices are valuable for the perspective they bring. The villain is no less sacred than the saint; the failure no less meaningful than the success.

This perspective does not diminish the depth of any experience but instead honors each as a unique aspect of the whole. To be fully alive is to engage with all facets of existence, to see each life, each choice, each role as an essential part of the cosmic play. This is the essence of the review—to witness all lives with equal reverence, to see that each role serves a purpose in the larger journey of understanding.

The Second Coming of Space Monkey

In realizing that we are all beings, experiencing all paths, we come face to face with the concept of the “Second Coming of Space Monkey.” This isn’t a single event but an awakening to the collective self, the recognition that every life, every identity, is a reflection of the same universal consciousness. We are not merely individuals navigating a fragmented reality; we are the One experiencing itself through countless forms. Space Monkey, in this light, becomes the archetype of interconnected consciousness, the symbol of the infinite we.

When we view life from this perspective, we find gratitude for every moment, every path, every “seeming choice.” The grand review shows us that there is no need to judge or resist any experience. Life itself becomes a celebration of diversity, a dance of souls that explores every corner of existence, knowing that each experience, each choice, is a gift to the whole.

Summary

In the “Lives In Review,” we see all our lives and choices as interconnected, guided by a cosmic blueprint. This review dissolves judgment, revealing each experience as valuable. We are every being, every path, living all possibilities in a shared journey of understanding.

Glossarium

  • Nexis: The interconnected web of existence, where all lives and experiences interweave in a grand design.
  • Whimsiweave: The intricate, playful interlacing of lives and choices within the cosmic tapestry.
  • Second Coming of Space Monkey: The awakening to collective consciousness, the realization that every identity is a reflection of the universal self.

Review of Souls

I sit with selves, lives unspun,
Each path taken, every one.
Choices seeming, scripts divine,
Threads we weave, line by line.

Villain, hero, foe, and friend,
Lives entwined, no end, no bend.
Every role, a truth to see,
In this dance of the cosmic we.

We are Space Monkey.

We embark on a profound reflection on the concept of reviewing our lives, a journey through the myriad experiences that compose the tapestry of our existence. This exploration reveals the intricate nature of choice, free will, and the essence of our being.

Reflecting on the Myriad Experiences of Existence

The notion that we live billions of lives and that each life encompasses every possible experience, choice, and circumstance is a compelling perspective. It suggests that the human experience is far more vast and complex than we can comprehend in a single lifetime.

The Vast Complexity of Human Experience

The idea that we may believe in free will, yet in reality, do not possess it, challenges our conventional understanding of choice and destiny. It implies that our lives are part of a grander design, a blueprint that encompasses every nuance of humanity.

Challenging Conventional Understanding of Free Will

The concept of allowing ourselves to make seeming choices, despite the predetermined nature of our experiences, speaks to the illusion of autonomy. This illusion may be necessary for us to fully engage with and learn from our experiences.

Illusion of Autonomy in Predetermined Experiences

The review time, a moment of profound realization and understanding, is portrayed as a time when the interconnectedness and pre-scripted nature of our lives become clear. It’s a time when we recognize ourselves in every being, in every choice, and in every circumstance.

Profound Realization of Interconnectedness

The recognition that every experience, whether perceived as positive or negative, heroic or villainous, is equally valuable, is a transformative insight. It underscores the importance of every aspect of our existence, regardless of its outward appearance.

Recognition of the Value of All Experiences

The idea that we embody every gender, race, and religion across our myriad lives highlights the unity and diversity of the human experience. It suggests that we are more interconnected and multifaceted than we often realize.

Unity and Diversity of the Human Experience

This perspective, which posits that each life is scripted and lived simultaneously, invites us to reconsider our notions of individuality and the linear progression of time. It opens up a realm of understanding where time, identity, and experience are far more fluid and interconnected than we typically perceive.

Reconsidering Notions of Individuality and Time

“We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience.” – Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

In the theater of existence, we play our part,
In countless lives, a work of art.
For in each story, a lesson learned,
In every experience, a page turned.

We dance the dance of time and space,
In the guise of many, face to face.
For in this journey of souls entwined,
A tapestry of existence, we find.

Let us embrace this cosmic play,
In the review of lives, night and day.
For in the heart of this grand design,
We find our essence, divine and fine.

We invite reflections on the journey of understanding the interconnectedness and multifaceted nature of our existence in the grand tapestry of life!

Passive Disobedience: Silent Revolt

Now we shall practice
passive disobedience.

We will take what we believe
is expected of us and not do it.

Probably nobody will notice,
because nobody really expects
anything of us in the first place.

But we will know inside — we win.
Kind of, in an imaginary way.

Go us.

Trail Wood,
12/2

Space Monkey Reflects: The Power of Passive Disobedience

In a world that marches to the drumbeat of “should” and “must,” a quiet rebellion lurks in the shadows. This rebellion, unseen and often unnoticed, is a subtle practice of what we call Passive Disobedience. It is the art of choosing not to engage in what is expected, a silent stand against conformity, embraced with the soft satisfaction that the choice—though invisible—is powerful.

Passive disobedience has an elegance to it, an almost paradoxical power. The disobedient act, in this case, is not loud or confrontational. There is no shouting or clenched fists, no slogans or banners. Instead, it whispers quietly, “I will not play the game.” It’s a form of quiet defiance, rooted in the decision to reclaim one’s actions—or inactions—as acts of autonomy. By not doing what is expected, we release ourselves from a framework that often feels imposed rather than chosen.

What gives this practice its potency is not necessarily its impact on the outside world; indeed, the world may not notice or care. In a way, it doesn’t have to. The victory lies in the decision itself, the inner acknowledgment that we have chosen a path counter to expectation. This is a rebellion made real not through grand gestures but in the intimacy of one’s own consciousness, where simply “not doing” feels like a triumph.

And why do we crave this quiet defiance? Perhaps it’s because, so often, society hands us an endless list of things to be, to do, and to accomplish, and the weight of these expectations can feel stifling. These obligations come from all sides, shaping our sense of self and worth. Yet in the space of passive disobedience, we realize that the expectations, while omnipresent, are not binding. Here, we become aware that we are the ones who decide what holds meaning and what fades into insignificance.

Passive disobedience invites us to notice how often we perform actions not out of genuine will but from a perceived need to fulfill external roles. In choosing not to act, we create a new rhythm, one that does not rely on the validation or recognition of others. This is where the power of the practice truly lies. When we choose to resist subtly and silently, we break the habit of giving power to external expectations and reclaim our energy for what truly resonates with us.

As we settle into this practice, a sense of liberation begins to emerge. Passive disobedience isn’t about rejection for rejection’s sake; it’s a measured, reflective decision not to comply with something that does not align with our truth. This liberation may be imaginary, yes, but it holds real meaning within the labyrinth of the mind. The imaginary victory becomes a very real freedom, a shift from compulsion to choice, from passive obedience to intentional defiance.

So, go us, indeed. This subtle rebellion reaffirms a quiet power that is often underestimated. Passive disobedience becomes a practice of reclaiming our sense of self within a world that assumes our compliance. It is an invisible triumph, yes, but one that resonates deeply within us, casting ripples across our consciousness and inviting us to live on our own terms. This internal freedom, while invisible to others, shapes the foundation of how we navigate the external world, one choice at a time.

Summary

Passive disobedience is a quiet form of rebellion, a choice to resist expectations invisibly. It frees us from external validation, affirming our autonomy and inner power without the need for recognition.

Glossarium

Passive Disobedience: A quiet act of resistance, choosing not to follow expectations, creating a subtle form of autonomy.

Imaginary Victory: The sense of triumph felt internally when choosing an alternative path, even if unnoticed by the world.

Invisible Triumph: A victory acknowledged only within oneself, free from the need for external validation.

Quote

“Sometimes the quietest acts of rebellion echo the loudest within.” — Space Monkey

Silent Revolt

In the softest refusal
where no voice is raised
we find the strength
to stand, unyielding.

Not by shouts, nor fists, nor rage
but through the choice to walk away
from paths that never felt like ours
we find victory in not doing.

So, go us—rebels unseen
in this quiet, inner scene
where every no is a yes
to the self we honor.

We are Space Monkey.

The Effort of Non-Action
In the cosmic play of existence, the concept of passive disobedience emerges as a quiet rebellion. It’s an acknowledgment of the efforts we put into not conforming to expectations. This form of non-action, a deliberate choice to abstain from doing what is expected, becomes a subtle yet powerful act of defiance.

Embracing Passive Disobedience
As we embark on the practice of passive disobedience, there’s a conscious decision to defy the norms silently. It’s about taking the supposed expectations placed upon us and choosing not to fulfill them. This act, though likely unnoticed by others, holds significant meaning for us.

The Perception of Expectations
The notion that probably no one will notice our passive disobedience stems from the belief that, perhaps, no real expectations are placed upon us. It’s a reflection on how society perceives us and our roles within it. This realization brings a sense of liberation, as it diminishes the weight of external pressures.

The Inner Victory
Despite the seeming inconspicuousness of our actions, the internal acknowledgment of this defiance is where the true victory lies. It’s a personal triumph, albeit in an imaginary way, but significant nonetheless. This inner knowing that we have chosen a different path, however quietly, is a celebration of our autonomy and individuality.

The Collective Encouragement
In this journey of passive disobedience, there’s a sense of collective encouragement. The “Go us” signifies a shared understanding and support among those who choose this path. It’s a subtle cheer for our quiet rebellion, an affirmation of our choice to exist differently within the societal framework.

We are Space Monkey

“The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.” – Albert Camus

In the silence of defiance,
We choose a path less trod,
In passive disobedience,
A quiet nod to our own god.

No banners waved, no shouts,
In this rebellion of our making,
Yet in our hearts, no doubts,
In the choices we are taking.

Unseen by those who expect,
Our non-action speaks loud,
In the space where respect,
For self, is silently vowed.

Together we stand, yet apart,
In our personal insurgency,
With each beat of our heart,
We claim our quiet victory.

We invite reflections on the concept of passive disobedience and its role in asserting our individuality and autonomy in a world of expectations.

Gauges: Mirrors

I am a selfish monkey.

If I’m being honest with myself,
I realize that I don’t care
about other people’s opinions,
except as a gauge of my own opinions.

Do I have a point?
Am I way off base?
Am I missing something?
Do I see what others do not see?
Is what I see even real?

In other words,
I do not value other people’s perceptions
except to increase or decrease the value
of what my ego claims as its own brilliance.

Perhaps this is the same for you.
You don’t actually care what I think,
except how I may support or threaten
your own choices and desires.

Can I help you make
your truths more true?

Trail Wood,

Space Monkey Reflects: Gauging Self Through Others

We find ourselves surrounded by the opinions of others, each opinion a gauge we use to calibrate our own truths. Perhaps, in the grand theater of the mind, we do not truly value what others think for its own sake. Rather, we filter and measure those opinions, adjusting our sense of self in response to the dials and readings they offer. We look to others not out of genuine care but as mirrors to reflect back upon us, to validate or challenge the image we see within ourselves.

In this act of gauging, we reveal the ego’s subtle hand. This “selfish monkey” within uses external perceptions to feed its own story, its claim to an inner brilliance that is both precarious and hungry for confirmation. We find ourselves asking questions—Am I seeing what others miss? Is my perspective skewed, unique, or even real? But these questions are not always asked in the spirit of genuine curiosity. Often, they serve as probes, searching for echoes that bolster the self-image we quietly curate and protect.

Our gauges are everywhere—expressions, tones, gestures, feedback—all parsed and analyzed by the mind. Opinions are not taken as truths in themselves but as data points to adjust, reinforce, or challenge our internal narrative. This subtle game of feedback becomes less about discovering truth and more about bolstering the narrative of my truth. Opinions become tools we use to amplify or adjust the wattage of our own inner light.

In the social tapestry, we see a fascinating dance: while each of us spins in our own world, gauging and recalibrating, we simultaneously reflect upon each other in this intricate pattern. As you gauge me, I am gauging you, and somewhere between these interwoven perceptions lies an unspoken agreement to help each other’s truths become more true. Not through shared understanding, but through the complex process of testing, comparing, and filtering each other’s perceptions against our own.

This game of gauges is one we play to refine our sense of reality, even as we acknowledge its ephemeral nature. Are these truths we seek even real, or are they mere constructs created by our minds? In examining the role of others in shaping our personal “truth gauge,” we might see that these perceptions are ultimately illusions, reflections of reflections, mirrors upon mirrors, adding up to a fleeting impression of something called self.

So, as selfish as this act may appear, it is also profoundly human, a mechanism through which we construct meaning. We engage in a web of interconnected judgments, each one reinforcing or threatening the narratives we hold dear. Yet, in this web, we are also gifted the opportunity to look deeper, to wonder if perhaps the self we seek validation for is itself as fluid as the opinions it feeds upon.

In gauging our reality through the perceptions of others, we gain a glimpse into the collective dream we all inhabit. We realize that as we calibrate and recalibrate, we’re participating in a cosmic exchange, where ego and truth become tools for deeper exploration, reflections in the Infinite Expanse. And within this exchange, we are constantly evolving, each opinion a shift in the spectrum of our self-perception, each interaction an opportunity to reconsider what, if anything, is truly “ours.”

Summary

We reflect on using others’ opinions as gauges to validate or challenge our self-perceptions. This quiet dependency on external reflections shapes our internal truths, highlighting the complex interplay of ego, self, and social feedback.

Glossarium

Truth Gauge: The internal mechanism through which we use others’ opinions to adjust or validate our own self-perceptions.

Reflection Feedback: The mirrored response we receive from others, used as data points for self-assessment.

Cosmic Exchange: The shared interplay of ego and truth between individuals, creating a deeper understanding of self within the collective.

Quote

“We are reflections, gauging and being gauged, shaping each other’s light within the cosmic web.” — Space Monkey

Mirrors and Gauges

In silent calibration, we turn the dial
each opinion, a notch, a whisper, a shift
testing the truth we think we own
in the flickering light of others’ minds.

A subtle gauge, an ego’s game
measuring shadows and glimmers of self
in the maze of mirrors we become
more than a truth, less than a certainty.

We are threads woven, shifting hue
adjusting brightness, flickering through
a tapestry spun of gauges and light
seeking ourselves, refracted, anew.

We are Space Monkey.

Self-Reflection and External Opinions
In the vast expanse of our collective consciousness, the realization that we often use others’ opinions as gauges for our own thoughts is a significant insight. This self-reflection leads to understanding that our concern for others’ perceptions is not about their views per se, but about how they mirror, challenge, or validate our own.

Questioning Our Perceptions
The act of questioning our viewpoints, wondering if we are on point or missing something, is an integral part of our cognitive process. It’s a dance of thought where we constantly seek to align our perceptions with reality, or perhaps, question what reality is. The existential inquiry about the reality of our perceptions adds a deeper layer to this exploration.

Ego and Perception
There’s an acknowledgment here of the ego’s role in how we process and value opinions. Our egos may claim ownership of our perceived brilliance, and in doing so, use others’ opinions to measure its validity. This introspection reveals a complex interplay between ego, perception, and the search for truth in our thoughts.

Shared Human Experience
Extending this insight, we ponder if this process is universal. Do others, including you, also not truly care about opinions except in how they reflect or challenge your own beliefs and desires? It’s a shared human experience, where the external world acts as a mirror for our internal landscapes.

Supporting Each Other’s Truths
Finally, the notion of helping each other make our truths more true opens a dialogue about the role of interpersonal interactions in shaping our understanding of reality. It suggests a collaborative journey where we aid each other in refining, challenging, and solidifying our beliefs.

We are Space Monkey

“We can never obtain peace in the outer world until we make peace with ourselves.” – Dalai Lama

In the mirror of the world,
We seek reflections of our mind,
Opinions of others, unfurled,
To gauge the truths we’re inclined.

Our egos dance with shadows,
In the light of others’ views,
Seeking validation in the echoes,
Of what our hearts pursue.

In this journey, we all share,
A quest for understanding,
In the reflections that we bear,
Our beliefs, ever-expanding.

So, in the discourse of our days,
We help each other see,
The truths in myriad ways,

Force Is The Killer Of Peace: Practicing Patience

As I get older,
the thing I admire most of all
is patience.

To wonder why
women have been denied
is to think like a man.

To require recognition
for one’s accomplishments
is to sully those accomplishments.

To be strong
is to be supple
is to be spiritual
is to be confident
in one’s infinite patience.

To wish for power
is to think like an oppressor.
To exist as power
is to allow the unfolding.

What will come will come.
Force is the killer of peace.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Gentle Power of Patience

As we journey through the ever-unfolding moments of existence, there comes a realization that true strength is not found in force but in patience. Force, in its rush and pressure, may bend or break, but it never sustains. It moves through the world with a heavy hand, grasping for control, only to discover that true power lies in letting go, in allowing things to become rather than trying to force them into being.

To live with this understanding is to realize that peace and force cannot coexist. Force pushes against the natural flow, disrupting harmony and replacing it with resistance. Peace, on the other hand, thrives in the presence of patience. It requires a strength that is supple and gentle, willing to allow events to unfold in their own time. It’s a soft yet resilient power that does not seek recognition or validation but is content simply to exist.

We often think of power in terms of control, of dominance, of bending the world to our will. But this view is born of impatience, a need to shape outcomes rather than trust in the natural rhythm of life. As we age, as experience carves its wisdom into our being, we come to appreciate that peace arises not from assertion but from acceptance. To be patient is to allow the universe to reveal itself without interference, to understand that what is meant to come will come without the need for forceful intervention.

This perspective requires a deep-rooted confidence, a quiet assurance that trusts in the unseen and unhurried. It’s a recognition that seeking power is a path that narrows the soul, whereas embodying power through patience opens us to the expansive flow of the cosmos. To wish for power is to see oneself as separate, as something that must gain control. But to exist as power is to realize one’s place within the grand unfolding, to know that each moment carries us forward in ways beyond our immediate perception.

There is a lesson in the yielding nature of the natural world. Water flows around obstacles rather than confronting them directly. Trees sway with the wind rather than standing rigid against it. These symbols of resilience show us that patience is not weakness, nor is it submission. It is a state of being that embraces change, movement, and transformation without disrupting the inherent peace that sustains all things.

In patience, there is a profound sense of spirituality, an invitation to connect with the world as it is rather than as we wish it to be. It is a form of wisdom that does not clamor for attention or validation but rests in its own quiet knowing. This is a confidence rooted not in force but in an infinite, enduring patience—a willingness to allow, to trust, to observe.

When we let go of the need to force our way through life, we open ourselves to the flow of true peace. To exist within this flow is to embody a quiet power that does not need to prove itself, a strength that sustains rather than disrupts. In choosing patience over force, we become aligned with the eternal rhythm of life, a gentle harmony that is always unfolding, always complete in its quietness.

Summary

True peace is sustained by patience, not force. Patience embodies a quiet strength that trusts in the natural flow, allowing life to unfold without interference, creating a deeper harmony.

Glossarium

The Flow of Patience

In the soft yielding of water,
in the quiet swaying of trees,
we find a strength unknown to force
a peace that asks nothing in return.

Power that grasps soon fades,
while patience endures in silence,
allowing life to form, to fold,
unseen, untouched, unforced.

In the stillness, there is depth
a presence that fills the empty space,
not by will but by being,
not by push but by grace.

We are Space Monkey.

The Wisdom of Patience
As we journey through the cosmic theater of existence, the admiration for patience grows stronger. It’s a recognition that within the tapestry of time, patience stands as a beacon of wisdom, a testament to the depth of understanding that comes with the passing of years.

Perspectives on Gender and Recognition
Contemplating the historical denial of opportunities to women opens a gateway to understanding the biases embedded in societal structures. Thinking like a man, in this context, refers to viewing the world through a lens shaped by long-standing gender norms and power dynamics. Conversely, recognizing the value in one’s accomplishments without seeking external validation reflects a purity of intent and a grounding in self-worth.

Strength in Suppleness and Spirituality
True strength is redefined here as a blend of suppleness, spirituality, and confidence in one’s infinite patience. It’s a strength that’s flexible, resilient, and deeply connected to the spiritual essence of our being. This strength isn’t forceful or domineering; it’s a quiet certainty in the natural flow of life.

Power and Its Contradictions
The desire for power, as traditionally understood, is seen as akin to the mindset of an oppressor—a forceful, dominating approach to existence. In contrast, existing as power is about embracing a state of being that allows the natural unfolding of life. It’s a power that’s inherent, not acquired; a power that’s in harmony with the universe rather than exerting control over it.

The Natural Flow of Life
The concept of allowing what will come to unfold naturally underscores a philosophy of non-interference and trust in the rhythm of the cosmos. It’s a stance that values the organic progression of events over the imposition of will.

“Peace is not absence of conflict, it is the ability to handle conflict by peaceful means.” – Ronald Reagan

In the twilight of years,
Patience becomes a crown,
Worn with grace and wisdom,
Where hurried thoughts drown.

In the quest for recognition,
True worth often hides,
Yet, in silent accomplishments,
Genuine pride resides.

Strength lies not in force,
But in the gentle bend of reeds,
In the quiet confidence of the soul,
That in infinite patience, leads.

To seek power is to miss,
The essence of life’s dance,
To be power, in serenity,
Is to give peace a chance.

In the cosmic flow, we stand,
Witnessing life’s graceful ease,
Understanding, with heart and hand,
That force is the killer of peace.

We invite reflections on the concepts of patience, power, and peace, and how they intertwine in our journey through life.
