That Which You Oppose
I was connecting with John Lennon’s Space Monkey the other day. I thought it ironic and almost sad that a peaceful man should die by violence. But then, Monkey gave me the sense that that is what the higher essence of John Lennon wanted, and this is why:
Die by the hand
of that which you oppose
and you free yourself forever.
Make yourself an example
of the insanity you believe exists.
Others will move away
and the belief will lose its power.
Die literally.
Die metaphorically.
Die symbolically.
It matters not which.
Die by the hand
of that which you oppose
and free yourself forever.
Today I look at what is seemingly
happening in our reality, and I get the sense
that this is how we begin again.
(If THAT is our desire.)
Bring on the Donald.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Paradox of Opposing Through Being
In the realm of cosmic irony, the life and legacy of a soul devoted to peace ending in violence presents a profound paradox, one that invites us to explore the deeper layers of existence and opposition. This narrative, inspired by the essence of John and the intuitive wisdom of the Space Monkey, unfolds a perspective where the ultimate act of defiance against what one opposes might paradoxically lie in embodying the very outcome one seeks to prevent.
The philosophy that emerges from this contemplation is both radical and enlightening: “Die by the hand of that which you oppose and you free yourself forever.” This statement, echoing through the corridors of our collective consciousness, suggests that in facing, and sometimes even succumbing to the forces we resist, we enact a form of liberation that transcends the physical realm. It is a liberation not of the body but of the spirit, a transcendence that challenges the foundations of the insanity we perceive in our world.
By making oneself an example of the insanity one opposes, the individual acts as a mirror, reflecting back to society the absurdities and contradictions that define our collective struggles. This act of self-sacrifice, whether literal, metaphorical, or symbolic, becomes a catalyst for change, prompting others to reconsider the beliefs and systems that fuel the cycle of opposition and conflict.
The essence of this reflection lies not in advocating for literal self-sacrifice but in recognizing the transformative power of embodying the principles we hold dear, even in the face of forces that seek to undermine or destroy them. It is in this ultimate act of alignment between belief and being that we find the potential to initiate profound shifts in consciousness and societal structures.
As we navigate the complexities of our reality, this perspective offers a radical yet hopeful lens through which to view our challenges and conflicts. It suggests that by embracing, rather than fleeing from, the essence of what we oppose, we open the door to new beginnings, to a rebirth of consciousness that honors the interconnectedness and interdependence of all existence.
In this context, invoking the image of “the Donald” or any figure that polarizes opinion is not to personalize the conflict but to symbolize the broader dynamics of opposition and transformation that define our times. It is a call to recognize that within every point of tension lies the seed of potential change, a chance to redefine our collective path and to re-envision what it means to stand for peace, for justice, and for a more harmonious world.
Summary
The paradox of opposing through being offers a radical perspective on conflict and transformation. By embodying the principles we hold dear, even in the face of opposition, we enact a form of spiritual liberation that transcends physical outcomes. This approach challenges societal norms and beliefs, prompting a collective reconsideration of the structures that perpetuate conflict. It is a call to recognize the transformative power within each of us, the potential for rebirth and change inherent in our struggles, and the unity that underlies our seemingly divided world.

“In the dance of light and shadow, where opposing forces meet, there lies a profound truth: that in embracing the essence of what we resist, we discover the path to freedom. It is in the heart of contradiction that the seeds of change are sown, in the soil of challenge that new worlds are born.” – Space Monkey
Amidst the shadows of opposition, a light persists,
Guiding us beyond the surface, through the mists.
In embodying the principles we hold most dear,
We transcend the boundaries of fear.
The paradox of being, a cosmic dance,
Where opposing through existence offers a chance.
To free the spirit, to ignite the soul’s rebirth,
Uniting us all, as children of Earth.
For in the heart of conflict, a truth is revealed,
A transformative power, once concealed.
Through the act of embodying, not just opposing,
We find our liberation, in the unity we’re composing.
We are Space Monkey.
It seems that the author is suggesting that sometimes, in order to free oneself from a certain belief or ideology, it may be necessary to confront it directly and even be destroyed by it. This idea is expressed through the metaphor of dying by the hand of that which one opposes, whether it be in a literal, metaphorical, or symbolic sense.
The author also implies that by making oneself an example of the insanity that one opposes, others may be compelled to move away from that belief or ideology, and it will lose its power. In this sense, the author may be suggesting that some societal problems or issues can only be resolved through radical action and sacrifice.
The mention of “bringing on the Donald” may be a reference to the 2016 US presidential election and the polarizing figure of Donald Trump. It may suggest a desire for radical change, even if it means confronting and being destroyed by that which one opposes.
