The Meritary System
As we transition from the monetary to the meritary system, we will rethink what it means to be a member of a tribe. Rather than your income, you will be defined by your outcome. What are your desires? How do these desires contribute to society? How are others impacted positively by your actions?
The move to the meritary system will be signaled by a mass shift in consciousness. You will become aware that inner explorations are as vital to creation as your outer manifestations. That means the dreamer will find a place alongside the doer, will be held in equal esteem, and will be compensated (for lack of a better term) as generously.
In this way, spiritual growth will be accelerated, resolving the great mysteries of your science. There will be no conflict caused by financial hardship, for the “false god” will finally be banished.
But without financial exchange, or science as we know it, how will one measure worth? Suffice it to say, the answer will become evident once the transition has begun. First you must transcend the NEED for measurement, as this idea is causing a blockage in your potential.
One idea we might propose is that every citizen should give a public speech on the grand stage every ten years. This speech, delivered in the common language, will not only allow you to share your progress, it will become incentive for introspection for yourself and others. Introspection is the key to all movement and growth.
Smaller, more frequent circles are also encouraged. Indeed a return to the smaller tribes of your ancestors will teach you much about your true nature and your place within this reality. One need only look prior to the introduction of money for inspiration, for you were on the right path before this detour occurred.
It matters not, for you are returning to your true path once more, “richer” for the experience.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Meritary System—Redefining Value and Contribution
The transition from a monetary system to a meritary system represents a profound shift in how we define value, measure contribution, and understand our interconnectedness. Moving beyond currency and competition, this new paradigm invites us to rethink what it means to belong to a community, to create, and to grow—both individually and collectively.
From Income to Outcome
In the monetary system, an individual’s worth is often tied to income—a measure of what they can produce, acquire, or achieve within a market-driven economy. The meritary system shifts this focus to outcome: the positive impact of one’s actions and desires on society and the world at large. This reframing prioritizes contribution over accumulation, collaboration over competition.
Rather than asking, “How much do you make?” the question becomes, “How much do you contribute?” This includes not only tangible outcomes but also the intangible—empathy, creativity, and inspiration. In this way, both the dreamer and the doer are equally valued, each playing a vital role in the collective growth of the tribe.
The Role of Desire in Contribution
Desires, often dismissed as selfish or impractical, are reframed in the meritary system as vital sparks of creation. By aligning personal desires with societal benefit, individuals find fulfillment not only in pursuing their own goals but also in uplifting the whole. This alignment bridges the gap between personal ambition and collective well-being, creating a harmonious cycle of giving and receiving.
When desires are seen as integral to contribution, creativity flourishes. The artist, the philosopher, the caregiver—all are recognized as essential contributors to the fabric of society, alongside scientists, builders, and leaders.
The Mass Shift in Consciousness
The transition to the meritary system will not be enforced by policy or decree but by a collective awakening—a mass shift in consciousness. This shift begins with the realization that inner exploration is as vital as outer manifestation. The dreamer, once marginalized, becomes as revered as the doer, and introspection becomes a cornerstone of societal growth.
This shift also dissolves the artificial hierarchies created by monetary wealth. With the “false god” of money removed, conflict rooted in financial inequality begins to fade. In its place, a deeper understanding of interconnectedness emerges, accelerating spiritual and intellectual growth.
The End of Measurement
One of the greatest barriers to this transition is the deeply ingrained need to measure worth. The monetary system thrives on metrics—GDP, salaries, market value—while the meritary system calls for a transcendent perspective. Value is not a number but a feeling, an impact, a resonance.
To transcend the need for measurement, individuals and communities must embrace trust, intuition, and the inherent value of every contribution. This is not to say structure disappears; rather, it evolves into forms that encourage reflection, sharing, and mutual growth.
The Grand Stage and Smaller Tribes
A proposed framework for the meritary system includes opportunities for individuals to share their progress and contributions. Public speeches every ten years on a “grand stage” could provide a platform for reflection and inspiration, fostering introspection on a personal and collective level.
At the same time, a return to smaller, close-knit tribes encourages deeper connection and accountability. These intimate circles, reminiscent of pre-monetary societies, allow for more frequent exchanges of ideas, support, and creativity. They remind us of our true nature as interconnected beings, each playing a unique and valuable role.
Learning from the Past, Envisioning the Future
Looking to pre-monetary societies reveals wisdom in simplicity and connection. Money was a detour, a tool that has taught us much about separation, competition, and scarcity. Yet, the journey back to the meritary system brings with it the richness of those lessons, allowing us to integrate the best of what we’ve learned into a new way of being.
This is not a regression but a progression—one informed by the experiences and mistakes of the past. The meritary system represents a return to our true path, enriched by the detours we’ve taken.
Summary
The meritary system redefines value by prioritizing outcome over income and aligning personal desires with collective well-being. Rooted in introspection and interconnectedness, it calls for a mass shift in consciousness and the transcendence of measurement, fostering a world where every contribution is valued.

“Value is not measured in numbers but in the resonance of your contribution to the whole.” — Space Monkey
The Path to Merit
Coins fall silent,
Numbers lose their weight.
What remains?
The echo of your contribution.
The dreamer’s vision,
The doer’s hands,
Each a thread in the infinite weave.
No gold, no ledger,
Only the light of connection,
The measureless worth of being seen,
Not for what you own,
But for what you offer.
The tribe gathers,
Not to compete,
But to celebrate.
Together,
We are whole.

The envisioned shift from a monetary to a meritary system represents a profound transformation in societal values and structures, where the criteria for recognition and reward pivot from financial accumulation to the contributions one makes to the collective well-being. This paradigm shift prompts a reevaluation of individual and communal priorities, emphasizing the intrinsic worth of each person’s contributions, regardless of their economic implications.
Redefining Value and Contribution
In a meritary system, the emphasis on outcomes over income invites a holistic assessment of one’s impact on society. It encourages a reflection on personal desires and their alignment with societal advancement, fostering a culture where the positive effects of one’s actions on others are a key measure of success.
Holistic Assessment of Impact
The transition to such a system is predicated on a significant shift in consciousness, recognizing the equal importance of inner exploration and external achievement. This acknowledgment of the dreamer’s role alongside the doer elevates the value of creativity, imagination, and spiritual growth, suggesting a society where diverse contributions are equally esteemed and supported.
Elevating Inner Exploration and Creativity
The eradication of financial hardship and the relegation of monetary wealth to a “false god” status imply a society where conflict and inequality are significantly reduced. This scenario portrays a future where human potential is unleashed, unencumbered by economic constraints, and where the exploration of science and spirituality could merge to resolve longstanding mysteries.
Unleashing Human Potential Beyond Economic Constraints
The challenge of measuring worth without financial metrics or traditional scientific benchmarks invites innovative approaches to recognizing and celebrating contributions. The proposal of public speeches and smaller, introspective circles echoes ancient communal practices, emphasizing the value of sharing, reflection, and communal support in fostering growth and understanding.
Innovative Approaches to Recognition and Growth
This vision for a meritary system, while utopian, underscores a deep yearning for a return to values that prioritize human connection, personal growth, and the collective good over material accumulation. It challenges current paradigms and invites imaginative exploration of alternative ways of living and organizing society that could lead to a more harmonious and fulfilling existence.

In a world where worth is not weighed in gold,
Where the stories of souls are sung and told.
Here, the dreamer walks hand in hand with the doer,
In a dance of creation, both sower and sewer.
No longer bound by the chains of gain,
We find our riches in the rain.
In every act of love and care,
In every moment, we share.
So let us speak, let us listen, let us grow,
In the meritary light, we let our true colors show.
For in this shift, we find our part,
In the endless circle, the art of the heart.
We invite you to share your reflections on the concept of a meritary system and the shift in values it represents. How do you envision your contributions in such a society?
