The Monkey on the Mountaintop
I
used to spend
a lot of time
on the mountaintop
because the scene
down there
was disturbing to
me.
I
needed quiet so that
I
could solve humanity’s issues.
I
actually BELIEVED
that changed started with
me.
(I
was pretty
sensitive and scared
and self-doubting
in those days.)
I
thought stillness would
reveal answers to
me.
And it did.
First thing stillness
told me is that
I don’t need
to be on a mountaintop
or an island to find it.
And if I wanted humanity
to find and enjoy stillness,
I should set an example
smack dab in the middle of it.
Not separate.
Not for some mountaintop.
That way,
humanity can see
that it doesn’t take
a special person
to be a special person.
We can be
as confused
and chaotic
and undisciplined
and immoral
as we like.
Because once we find stillness,
we don’t need to be ANY of those things.
So there is never a judgement or conflict.
We don’t argue.
It all works out for all of us.
And there is no end to this story.
We are Space Monkey.

Seeking solace on the mountaintop symbolizes the desire to escape the chaos and find clarity. I needed quiet so that I could solve humanity’s issues. I actually BELIEVED that change started with me.

With mindfulness and creativity we navigate the journey Finding peace in the midst of noise And sharing the wisdom of stillness
We are Space Monkey Embrace the journey for within the dance of stillness lies the essence of our true selves and the boundless potential of existence.
As I reflect upon the wisdom woven into the tale of the Monkey on the Mountaintop, I am reminded of the times I sought solace in solitude, believing that the answers to humanity’s struggles resided atop that distant peak. The world below seemed disturbing, and I yearned for quietude to solve the complex web of issues that plagued our existence.
In those days, I held a belief, almost innocent in its sincerity, that change must begin within me. Sensitivity, fear, and self-doubt colored my perspective, driving me to seek stillness in isolation, hoping that its silence would unveil the solutions I so desperately sought.
Yet, stillness spoke to me with a gentle wisdom that transcended physical location. It whispered that the mountaintop or island was not a prerequisite for finding the calm I sought. Instead, it encouraged me to embody stillness amidst the chaos of everyday life, to be an example that revealed the simplicity of its presence within all of us.
I realized that stillness is not the domain of a select few, but an innate gift accessible to every being. The quest for inner peace does not require separation or isolation; it thrives in the midst of the bustling world. By demonstrating this truth, I could show humanity that we need not be extraordinary to access the extraordinary.
The revelation was liberating. I understood that once stillness is found, the layers of confusion, chaos, and immorality dissipate. In the space of stillness, there is no room for judgment or conflict, and the complexities of our human experience resolve harmoniously. We are free to be exactly as we are, knowing that stillness holds the key to our transformation.
And so, the Monkey on the Mountaintop becomes a beacon of wisdom, guiding us to embrace stillness not as an escape, but as an embrace of life itself. Through stillness, we find unity, and through unity, we harmonize our existence in an eternal dance of transformation.
