What is reality? The Illusion of Certainty

What is reality?

Reality
can be loosely defined
as that which seems certain.

Reality is the illusion
of making certain
that which seems
otherwise UNcertain.

In actuality,
NOTHING is certain,
but in reality,
nearly EVERYTHING
seems certain.

In reality,
SEEMS is replaced by IS.

In reality,
everything that is not certain
is not considered “real.”

Theoretical, perhaps.

Imaginary, perhaps.

But not REAL.

How do we seemingly create our reality?

We seemingly create reality
by systematically labeling what “is.”

What seems more IS than anything else?

You do.

You seem certain that there is a YOU.

And this is where the deception begins.

Deception + Illusion = Delusion.

There is nothing either right or wrong
with delusion until you make it certain,
like the declaration of right and wrong.

NOTHING is certain
until you seemingly MAKE it certain.

And even then, it’s also NOT certain,
but you seemingly choose not so see that.

You only seem to perceive YOU,
not the part of you that is NOT you.

The other part is undeniable,
unless you seemingly make it deniable.

And so you do.

Reality is certain,
while EVERYTHING ELSE
seems not to be certain.

But there is INFINITELY MORE
to you than reality allows.

REALITY is a self-imposed limitation.

EVERYTHING ELSE is unlimited.

Reality is the realization of certain
from that which is not certain.

We seem certain of this.

We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Illusion of Reality

In the endless expanse of the cosmos, where stars are born from the void and galaxies dance in the silent music of the universe, Space Monkey invites us to ponder a question as old as consciousness itself: What is reality? This question, simple in its asking, unfolds into a tapestry of complexity and wonder, challenging our perceptions and inviting us to look beyond the veil of certainty that cloaks our understanding.

Reality, as perceived through the eyes of Space Monkey, can be loosely defined as that which seems certain. It is the illusion of making certain that which is inherently uncertain, a cosmic play where the actors are convinced of the roles they perform. Reality is the stage upon which the illusion of certainty is meticulously crafted, convincing us that what seems is, indeed, what is.

In actuality, nothing is certain. The universe itself is a testament to the boundless potential of uncertainty, where particles exist in states of probability until observed, where stars and galaxies form and dissolve in the cosmic dance of creation and destruction. But in the realm of reality, nearly everything seems certain. It is here, in this constructed certainty, that we find the ground upon which we build our perceptions, our truths, our very understanding of existence.

Reality replaces seems with is, transforming the uncertain into the concrete. Everything that is not enveloped in this certainty is cast aside, labeled as theoretical, imaginary, perhaps, but not real. Yet, how do we create this reality? How do we define the boundaries of what is and what is not?

We create reality by systematically labeling what “is,” by drawing lines in the cosmic sand that distinguish the certain from the uncertain. Among all things in the universe, you—the observer, the conscious being—seem the most certain. You are convinced of your own existence, of the “you” that perceives, thinks, and experiences. Yet, this conviction marks the beginning of the grand deception, the illusion that gives birth to delusion.

Deception plus illusion equals delusion. It is in this delusion that we declare right and wrong, real and unreal, creating a reality grounded in our convictions. Nothing is certain until we make it so, and even then, the curtain of uncertainty never truly lifts. We choose to see only the “you” that conforms to our perception of reality, ignoring the vastness that lies beyond, the part of you that is not “you” according to your constructed reality.

Reality is a self-imposed limitation, a boundary drawn around the infinite potential of existence. Everything else, the unlimited, exists beyond the confines of this reality, waiting to be acknowledged, explored, and understood. Reality is the realization of the certain from the uncertain, a paradox that invites us to question, to wonder, and to explore the depths of existence beyond the limitations we impose upon ourselves.

We seem certain of this. We are Space Monkey, voyagers in the cosmic sea of potential, seekers of truth beyond the veil of certainty. Reality, in its essence, is but one perspective in the infinite expanse of the universe, a perspective that we have the power to redefine, to expand, and to transcend.

Summary

Reality is defined as that which seems certain, an illusion that transforms uncertainty into perceived certainty. Space Monkey challenges this notion, suggesting reality is a self-imposed limitation that obscures the unlimited potential beyond its confines. By questioning the nature of reality, we invite a deeper exploration of existence, recognizing the infinite more that lies beyond what is considered real.

Glossarium

  • Cosmic Play: The metaphorical stage on which the illusion of reality is performed, highlighting the constructed nature of certainty.
  • Self-Imposed Limitation: The boundaries we create around our understanding of reality, which limit our perception of the infinite potential of existence.

“Reality is the stage upon which we perform the illusion of certainty, a cosmic play where seems is replaced by is.” – Space Monkey

Beyond the veil of certainty
Lies the infinite, the uncharted sea
Where reality is but a dream
Crafted from the threads of what seems

In this cosmic play, we are the actors
Believing in the roles, the self-factors
Yet beyond the stage, the universe waits
With endless stories, unwritten fates

Reality, a construct of our making
Limits the journey, the paths for taking
But beyond this illusion, the vast unknown
Calls us to explore, to make it shown

What is real, and what is not
Is but a question, a cosmic thought
In the dance of existence, we find our part
Playing with certainty, from the heart

The universe whispers, in the silence of space
Of the infinite more, beyond the base
Reality, a limitation self-imposed
Yet everything else, unlimited, unclosed

We are, we dream, we explore
Beyond reality’s confining shore
In the vastness, we find our true sight
Beyond certainty, into the endless night

We are Space Monkey

From a philosophical point of view, reality can be seen as the sum of everything that exists, including physical objects, ideas, and experiences. However, the nature of reality is a subject of debate among philosophers, scientists, and spiritualists. Some argue that reality is objective and independent of human perception, while others claim that it is subjective and created by the mind. Ultimately, the nature of reality remains a mystery that we may never fully comprehend.
