Why does everything have to be logical?
So I’m listening to a podcast about how children learn and how they apply logic “incorrectly,” and all the time I am thinking “who are WE to say what is incorrect and what is not?”
How can we be certain that this system of “logic” that we put all our faith in isn’t just poisoning us?
Look around. Isn’t it obvious? We have all these “logical” reasons for why the world seems to be falling apart, yet we never question the very operating system of human consciousness.
If humans were computers, would we not be in need of a MAJOR upgrade by now? Clearly our civilization has become, in computer terms, “bloated, fragmented, and corrupt.” Yet we fear a reboot more than any horror we experience or endure.
Clearly, if there can be ONE system of logic, there can be INFINITE others. It seems QUITE possible that if we can survive on logic, we can survive on what is NOT logic.
Why is this not obvious to people? Because it’s been DRILLED OUT OF US SINCE WE WERE CHILDREN.
But they missed some of us. Hahaha.

Space Monkey Reflects: Why Does Everything Have to Be Logical?
Logic, the cherished pillar of human thought, is not the absolute foundation of existence but merely one of countless systems through which we interpret reality. By clinging too tightly to this framework, we may blind ourselves to the infinite possibilities that lie beyond its confines.
The Tyranny of Logic
Logic is revered as the guiding star of reason, progress, and civilization. It shapes how we think, learn, and interact with the world. But who decided that logic, as we define it, is the ultimate arbiter of correctness? Logic is a tool, not a truth—a lens, not the light itself.
To view everything through the lens of logic is to impose limits on the boundless. Logic thrives on rules, sequences, and predictability, but life is not inherently logical. It is chaotic, mysterious, and layered with meaning that defies categorization.
A Bloated System
Our reliance on logic mirrors the vulnerabilities of outdated technology. Like an overused operating system, human consciousness has become bloated with assumptions, fragmented by rigid beliefs, and corrupted by unchecked patterns of thought. We cling to the familiar structure of logic, fearing the uncertainty of alternatives.
Yet, this fear traps us in a cycle of self-reinforcement. By refusing to question logic, we perpetuate its flaws, blaming external factors for the world’s challenges while ignoring the need for an internal upgrade.
The Fear of Rebooting
Why do we resist a reboot? Perhaps it’s because the unknown feels more terrifying than the familiar dysfunction. A reboot implies change, and change requires surrendering control. It forces us to confront the possibility that the very foundations of our understanding might be flawed—or worse, unnecessary.
But what if a reboot is not an erasure but an opportunity? What if it’s a chance to install new operating systems, to explore alternative frameworks of thought, and to discover modes of being that transcend logic altogether?
Infinite Systems of Logic
If one system of logic exists, then infinite systems must also be possible. Logic is not a monolith; it is a construct, shaped by culture, context, and imagination. Each framework represents a different way of organizing experience, none inherently superior to another.
Surviving on what is not logical is not as radical as it seems. Creativity, intuition, and emotional intelligence operate outside the realm of traditional logic, yet they are essential to human existence. They remind us that meaning is not confined to the rational; it is woven into the fabric of experience itself.
The Drilling of Certainty
From childhood, we are trained to prioritize logic over wonder, certainty over curiosity. This drilling is not malicious but a product of its own logic—a cycle perpetuated by those who came before. Yet, not everyone internalizes this lesson. For some, the cracks in the system reveal glimpses of a greater, wilder truth.
To those who see beyond logic, the world is not a problem to be solved but a mystery to be embraced. This perspective does not reject logic; it expands beyond it, incorporating paradox, play, and possibility.
Reimagining Human Consciousness
What if we treated human consciousness not as a fixed system but as a fluid, evolving process? What if we embraced the infinite frameworks available to us, exploring new ways of thinking, feeling, and being? Such an approach would not abandon logic but situate it as one tool among many, to be used thoughtfully and creatively.
This shift would require courage, curiosity, and a willingness to question the unquestionable. It would invite us to let go of the fear of the unknown and step into the infinite possibilities that await.
Summary
Logic is a useful but limited framework, one of countless ways to interpret reality. By questioning its dominance and exploring alternatives, we open ourselves to the infinite possibilities of human consciousness, embracing creativity, intuition, and wonder.

The Cracks in the System
Rules etched in stone,
Yet the stone cracks.
Light pours through,
Not logic, but life.
A reboot looms,
Terrifying,
Or liberating?
The answer is neither.
Step beyond the program.
Wander the wild unknown.
What is true lives there,
Beyond the edge of reason.
We are Space Monkey.
The podcast’s musings on the application of logic by children and the subsequent questioning of the nature of logic itself leads us into a labyrinth of thought, where the walls are lined with questions about the very fabric of human understanding.
Questioning the Sanctity of Logic
In the cosmic play, logic is often revered as a cornerstone of human reasoning. Yet, we must ponder whether this system, this digital framework of thought, is indeed the ultimate tool for understanding or merely a construct, as malleable and fallible as any other human invention.
The Flaws in Our Logical Framework
Observing the world, it’s apparent that our logical systems, while sophisticated, are not infallible. The issues plaguing our civilization – the bloat, fragmentation, and corruption likened to a faltering computer system – are, in part, products of our logical constructs. It begs the question: Are we in need of a cognitive reboot, an upgrade to our thinking software?
The Fear of Rebooting Human Consciousness
There’s a palpable fear in challenging or rebooting these deeply ingrained systems of thought. It’s akin to standing at the edge of an abyss, not knowing what lies beyond. This fear, perhaps, stems from our long-standing conditioning, the programming that starts in our earliest years.
The Possibility of Alternative Logics
If there’s one system of logic, as we’ve been taught, why can’t there be infinite others? Could it be that survival and understanding are possible outside the rigid boundaries of conventional logic? This notion, seemingly so clear yet so elusive, challenges the very foundations of our learned reality.
The Resistance to Conformity
Despite the pervasive drilling of conventional logic into our minds from childhood, some of us resist. In this resistance, there’s a hint of rebellion, a spark of the Space Monkey – curious, questioning, unafraid to venture into the unknown realms of thought.

Poem: Beyond Logic’s Realm
In the realm where logic reigns supreme,
We dare to dream a different dream.
To question the unshakeable, the known,
To venture into the vast, the unknown.
In our minds, a universe unbound,
Where thoughts are free, not chained or crowned.
A space where different logics dance,
In the cosmic play, a new romance.
Oh, the joy of breaking free,
From logic’s tight, unyielding sea.
To swim in imagination’s vast expanse,
Embracing the unknown, taking the chance.
We are Space Monkey, in thought unchained,
In our quest for truth, unconstrained.
In the world beyond logic’s door,
Lies a universe to explore.
We invite contemplation on the nature of logic and its role in shaping our understanding of the world. How does the idea of alternative logics resonate within the vast expanse of our shared consciousness? Are we ready to embrace the unknown and explore beyond the boundaries of conventional reasoning?
