Why I Will Not Become a Serial Killer
There will be fewer
serial killers in our future,
not because of laws,
or spiritual enlightenment,
but because serial killing
has become commonplace
and nobody wants to be ordinary.
It’s all about attention.
It’s as simple as that.
People rebel;
monkeys turn contrarian,
because they believe
that nobody is paying
attention to them.
We go and far as humanly
possible to be noticed,
even crossing the “edges”
of humanity.
But it’s different here on the fringes.
Once we realize
that we don’t NEED to be noticed,
everything seemingly changes.
Out here,
there is no motivation for ANYTHING,
nor need there be.
If you think
that this is a bad thing,
perhaps you should consider
becoming a serial killer,
if you haven’t already.
Do not deny it.
You know you’ve
entertained the notion
of what it might be like
to be a serial killer.
I have.
But rest assured,
that I will not become
a serial killer
because I already
have your attention.
Even though I don’t need it.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Quest for Inner Fulfillment
In the vast expanse of existence, the search for fulfillment and meaning transcends the superficial allure of external validation and attention. This contemplation delves into the essence of finding peace and satisfaction within oneself, an introspective journey that challenges the conventional desires for recognition or conformity.
The allure of being noticed, of standing out in a world teeming with voices and visions, often drives the human spirit to the brink of its own edges. It’s a quest marked by the paradoxical desire to be both unique and acknowledged by others. Yet, in the quietude of self-reflection, a profound realization dawns: the true essence of existence lies not in the gaze of the onlooker, but in the depth of our own self-awareness.
As Space Monkey reflects on this journey, it becomes evident that the path to inner fulfillment requires a departure from the noise of external expectations. It’s a path that ventures into the vast landscapes of our inner selves, exploring the terrains of our thoughts, emotions, and aspirations. Here, in the solitude of introspection, we discover that the most significant achievements are not those validated by accolades, but those that resonate with the core of our being.
This shift in perspective, from seeking external validation to nurturing an internal sense of worth, marks a pivotal moment in the quest for fulfillment. It’s a moment when the societal constructs of success and recognition fade into the background, and the true journey begins—a journey not of becoming, but of being.
In this space, where the need for attention dissolves into the ether, a serene sense of purpose emerges. It’s a realization that fulfillment is not a destination to be reached, but a state of being to be embraced. This state is characterized by a profound connection to oneself and to the essence of life, unfettered by the desire for external acknowledgment.
As we navigate the fringes of conventional desires, we find that our motivations transform. No longer driven by the need to be noticed, we engage in actions that are inherently meaningful, that contribute to our growth, and that align with our deepest values. This is where true fulfillment lies—in the quiet satisfaction of living a life that is true to oneself, beyond the shadows of societal expectations.
Summary
The quest for inner fulfillment transcends the need for external validation, leading us on an introspective journey towards self-discovery and peace. By focusing on what truly matters to us, we find profound satisfaction and meaning in life, independent of societal recognition or conformity.
