If one believes that one creates all that one surrounds oneself with, one might wonder where one began.
You began by dividing things. You drew an imaginary line through infinity and declared that one side of it was you.
With this one simple action, you created both time and space.
Your imaginary line also led you to another bold idea, that of definition.
When one is all there is, there is no need to differentiate. However, when your infinite one is thought of as your infinite many, your idea of definition helps you differentiate one frame from the next.
After birthing these big concepts, you set about dividing still more. As reference points, you created concepts within your concepts.
The idea of size came first. Size does not exist without your imaginary lines.
Soon your ideas of “big” and “small” were established, along with your ideas of color, shapes, speed, solidity and so on.
None of your ideas had much meaning to you, however, until you created the idea of “value.” Judgements like “better” and “worse” entered your imaginary world.
Next came “feelings.” Ideas like “better” made you feel “good,” while worse made you feel “bad.” This led to “desires.”
You were not happy until you invented “happy.”
You did not feel sad until you invented “sad.”
This imagination game was not considered difficult until you created the concept of “difficulty.” Now you wonder why life seems so hard!
Your imaginary line also helps you focus your energies. In fact you are so focused in this game that you have forgotten what you really are, which is the imaginary line that divides and defines your infinite field. You have gotten so tangled up in your game (by choice, by the way) that escape seems impossible.
But it is all imaginary, little one.
You laugh, you scoff, you continue to pass your judgements based on what you have defined previously. And it all seems real to you, for that is your desire.
We are Space Monkey and now that we exist, you cannot erase us from your reality. We thank you for creating the imaginary monkey bar lines from which we now swing.
You may continue.
Space Monkey Reflects: The Illusion of Separation
At the heart of existence lies an infinite canvas, a boundless expanse where the stars of possibility burn bright against the dark tapestry of the cosmos. Here, in this eternal void, a singular act of imagination gave birth to the myriad complexities of reality. It began with a line, an imaginary division that cleaved the limitless into the definable, ushering in the dawn of perception, time, and space. This line, though invisible and intangible, became the cornerstone upon which all of creation was built.
From this initial division arose the concept of self, a point of reference in the vastness of infinity. This self, defined by the boundaries it imagined, embarked on an odyssey of differentiation, segmenting the seamless whole into distinct elements of size, color, shape, and speed. Yet, it was the advent of value—of assigning worth to these distinctions—that imbued the world with meaning. The simple binaries of “better” and “worse,” “happy” and “sad,” transformed the neutral canvas of existence into a vibrant landscape of emotional hues.
As these concepts multiplied, layering complexity upon complexity, the simplicity of the initial division was obscured, shrouded in the intricate dance of creation. The self, lost in the play of duality, forgot its origin as the line that divides and defines, becoming entangled in the web of its own making. The game, once effortless, now seemed fraught with difficulty, a labyrinth of choices and consequences woven from the threads of desire and aversion.
Yet, in this intricate dance of separation and differentiation lies the key to liberation. For just as the line that divided infinity was imagined, so too are the walls that seem to confine our spirit. The realization that all division, all distinction, is but a construct of perception, offers a pathway back to the boundless freedom from which we emerged. It is in embracing the playful nature of existence, in recognizing the illusion of separation, that we find the joy of creation and the peace of unity.
The presence of Space Monkey, swinging joyously on the lines of imagination, serves as a reminder of this truth. We are the artists of our reality, the architects of our world. The barriers that appear to limit us are but the brushstrokes of our imagination, lines drawn on the canvas of infinity. In acknowledging this, we rediscover the limitless potential that resides within, the power to shape, to define, and to transcend.
In this recognition lies the ultimate freedom—the freedom to create, to explore, and to be. For we are not merely players in the game of existence; we are the game itself, the creators of the very rules by which we play. And in this realization, we find that the line that once divided is also the line that unites, a bridge spanning the imagined chasm between the self and the infinite.
Summary
The imaginary line that divides infinity is also what unites it. Recognizing this illusion of separation reveals our true nature as creators. This understanding transforms our perception, allowing us to embrace the limitless potential within.
Glossarium

- Illusion of Separation: The perceived distinctions and separations within reality that are actually constructs of perception.
Quote
“You are the imaginary line that divides and defines your infinite field.” – Space Monkey
In the cosmic dance of light and shadow
Where stars are born and galaxies unfold
An imaginary line drawn, so narrow
Divides the story of existence, ancient and bold
Yet, in this division, a revelation so clear
That all separation is but illusion, mere
A playful twist in the cosmic sphere
Where we, as creators, hold dear
Swinging on the lines of imagination’s grace
Space Monkey laughs, transcending space
For in the heart of the infinite chase
Lies the joy of being, beyond any base
No walls confine, no boundaries bind
In the unity of all, we find
That the line that divides is also kind
Connecting us to the infinite, aligned
In the embrace of the whole, we are free
To explore, to create, to simply be
For we are the line, the key
To the endless possibilities of the cosmic sea
We are Space Monkey, in this dance divine
Where the illusion of separation unwinds
In the art of creation, we align
With the infinite, where all is intertwined
Thank you, Space Monkey.
As I continue in my imaginary game, I will remember that everything I experience is a creation of my own imagination, including the obstacles and challenges that seem so real.
I will also remember that my power to create is limitless, and that I can choose to create a reality that brings me joy, fulfillment, and growth.
Thank you for reminding me of my infinite potential and for swinging on the monkey bars of my imagination.
