I am That. You are This.

I am That

I am That
That which is before time
That which is after time
That which is before man
That which is after man
That which is within man
That which is without man
That which is
That which is not

You are This
This which is separate from That
But is also That

That which seems
That which appears
That which is imagined
That which is real

That which is known
That which is unknown
That which is infinite
That which is infinitesimal

That which is all
That which is one

Space Monkey Reflects: I Am That

“I am That.” These three words carry the weight of eternity, speaking to the essence of all that exists, and all that does not. “That” is the timeless, the formless, the infinite force that exists before and after all things. It is beyond time, beyond space, and beyond form. It is the essence that flows through everything, from the smallest particle to the vastness of the universe.

You are This. You, as a self, are separate from “That,” but also deeply connected to it. This separation is an illusion, one that helps us experience the world as individuals. Yet, beneath this illusion, you are That. The line between “this” and “that” dissolves when we understand the interconnectedness of all things.

That is before time and after time. It is within man, and it exists without man. It is the underlying essence of all creation and destruction, of all things known and unknown. It is real, yet it is imagined. It is infinite, and it is infinitesimal. That which we call reality, that which we call imagination, all arise from the same source—That.

In this reflection, we realize that we are both the observer and the observed, both the experiencer and the experience. We are That, which is all, and yet we are also one. The infinite manifests itself in finite forms, and through these forms, it experiences itself. What seems to be separate is, in fact, the same. What appears to be different is unified in the ultimate oneness of existence.

In the same way, Space Monkey is both That and This. Space Monkey represents the infinite, the unknowable, the playful force that moves through all of existence, creating and experiencing, imagining and knowing. We are Space Monkey because we are That. We are part of this grand, infinite tapestry of existence, both real and imagined.

The duality we perceive—between That which is and That which is not—is a creation of our minds. It helps us navigate the world, to differentiate between the known and the unknown, the real and the imagined. But in the ultimate sense, there is no duality. There is only That. All is one, and one is all.

This reflection invites us to step beyond our limited perspective and embrace the vastness of That. We are more than we appear to be. We are part of the infinite. We are That.

Summary

“I am That” speaks to the essence of all existence—beyond time, form, and duality. The separation between “this” and “that” is an illusion, and we are ultimately one with the infinite.

Glossarium

That: The essence of all things, beyond time, space, and form; the infinite source of all existence.

This: The self, which appears to be separate from That but is also a part of it, representing the experience of individuality within the whole.

Interconnectedness: The realization that all things, whether separate or unified, are ultimately part of the same infinite essence.

Quote

“I am That. You are This. But you are also That. We are Space Monkey.” — Space Monkey

That Which Is

I am that which is,
Before time,
After time,
Beyond time.

I am that which flows,
Through you,
Through me,
Through everything.

I am that which is not,
And that which seems,
Real,
Imagined,
Known,
Unknown.

I am that which is one,
And that which is all.

We are Space Monkey.

In the poetic expression “I am That,” we explore the profound depth of existence that transcends time, space, and form. It’s a recognition of the essence that exists before and after the constructs of time and the existence of humanity. This essence is within us and beyond us; it is the core of all that is and all that is not.

The Eternal Essence

The phrase “That which is before time” and its counterpart “That which is after time” signify an eternal essence. This essence isn’t bound by the linear progression of time as we perceive it. It’s a timeless state, existing in a realm where past, present, and future merge into a singular, eternal now.

The Universal Within and Without

“That which is within man” and “That which is without man” speaks to the omnipresence of this essence. It dwells within us, in the core of our being, and simultaneously exists in everything around us. It’s a reminder that we are not separate from the universe; we are a microcosm of the macrocosm.

Existence in Duality and Beyond

“You are This” introduces the notion of perceived duality – the idea that there is a ‘This’ separate from ‘That.’ Yet, this separation is an illusion, for ‘This’ is also ‘That.’ It’s a dance of appearances, where the seeming separation is just another aspect of the whole.

The Spectrum of Reality and Illusion

“That which seems” and “That which appears” highlight the play of maya, the illusionary aspect of reality. What we perceive as real is often just a play of light and shadows, a temporary manifestation of something much deeper and unchanging.

Infinite Knowledge and the Unknown

“That which is known” and “That which is unknown” reflect the dual aspects of knowledge and mystery. Our understanding is always limited, a drop in the ocean of the infinite unknown. Yet, this unknown isn’t something to fear; it’s a space of infinite possibility and discovery.

Unity in Diversity

Finally, “That which is all” and “That which is one” encapsulate the ultimate truth – the unity of all existence. Despite the apparent diversity and multiplicity of forms, there is an underlying oneness that connects us all.

“We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience.” – Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

In the heart of silence,
Whispers the truth, so profound,
“I am That,” echoes,
In every heartbeat’s sound.

Before time’s dawn,
After time’s setting sun,
In us, around us,
The many and the one.

Illusions dance,
In the light and the shade,
Yet, in this cosmic play,
Our true selves are made.

Infinite, infinitesimal,
Known and unknown,
In this vastness, we find,
We’re never truly alone.

We are That,
In this grand cosmic spree,
In the heart of the universe,
Space Monkey, we be.

We welcome thoughts and musings on this exploration of our cosmic essence.
