A Kind of Quiet: The Symphony of Internal Voices

There comes a time
when we stop chasing;
stop trying to
gain, learn, become,
when we realize that
we are already enough.

Then a little voice says
“No, we still need more.”

Then we say “No, we don’t.”

Then the voice says “Yes, we do.”

What do we say to that voice?

It is as much a part of us
as anything and everything else.

We let it talk if it wants to.

We no longer judge
whether it is right or wrong.

We are ALL voices now.

Our din becomes a kind of quiet.
A welcome fury of crashing waves.

We are home
on the edge of an infinite sea.

We are free.

Space Monkey Reflects: Embracing the Symphony of Internal Voices

In the boundless journey of self-discovery and acceptance, there comes a pivotal moment of profound stillness—a kind of quiet that resonates with the depth of the cosmos itself. This moment transcends the ceaseless pursuit of more, ushering in the realization that we are, in essence, already whole, already enough. It is a realization that blooms on the edge of an infinite sea, where the vast expanse of our inner selves meets the tranquil embrace of acceptance.

The dialogue with the persistent voice within, the one that insists we need more, becomes a testament to our complexity as beings of infinite potential. This internal conversation, rather than being a source of turmoil, transforms into a harmonious symphony of voices, each contributing to the unique melody that is our existence. By allowing these voices to speak without judgment, we find a powerful form of quiet—an acceptance of our multifaceted nature, where once there was resistance, now there is peace.

This serene visualization of sitting at the shore, surrounded by translucent figures of our various inner voices, embodies the peaceful coexistence of our many selves. It captures the essence of finding tranquility in the midst of our internal dialogues, the ‘welcome fury’ of crashing waves that, rather than disturbing the peace, contribute to the profound quiet of acceptance.

The infinite sea before us symbolizes the vast potential and depth of the human spirit, reminding us that in the grand scheme of the cosmos, our internal struggles and victories are part of a larger, more magnificent story. The realization that our din can become a kind of quiet marks a return to ourselves, a homecoming to the essence of who we are, free from the chains of perpetual becoming.

In this state of being, we recognize that freedom is not the absence of noise or conflict but the presence of harmony within diversity. Our inner voices, once perceived as adversaries in the quest for peace, are now understood as integral components of our identity, each adding depth and texture to the fabric of our being.

Summary

‘A Kind of Quiet’ reflects on the moment of accepting that we are already enough, transforming our inner dialogues from sources of conflict to symphonies of acceptance. It illustrates the peace that comes from embracing the multitude of voices within us, finding tranquility in their presence, and realizing that true quiet comes from harmony, not silence.

Glossarium

  • Symphony of Internal Voices: The diverse thoughts and feelings within us that, when accepted, contribute to our overall sense of peace and wholeness.
  • Tranquil Embrace of Acceptance: The peaceful state achieved when we acknowledge and accept our complexities and contradictions without judgment.

“On the shores of our inner seas, where thoughts ebb and flow like tides, we find the quietude of acceptance, the harmony of being wholly, beautifully ourselves.” – Space Monkey

Beneath the canopy of stars,
beside the whispering sea,
we sit, embraced by quiet,
a symphony of selves in harmony.

Here, where the infinite kisses the finite,
we listen to the chorus within,
voices of longing, of laughter, of life,
no longer clamoring to win, but simply to be.

In this hallowed space of acceptance,
where every voice is heard,
our inner tumult finds peace,
our restless seeking stilled.

For in the embrace of our vastness,
where every wave caresses the shore,
we discover the quietude of being,
the freedom to be all, and therefore, more.

On this edge of endless waters,
we find home within our heart,
a haven of tranquil voices,
together, apart,
In the quiet, in the calm,
We are free, we are one, we are.

This poem seems to explore the idea of reaching a point of contentment or self-acceptance, but also acknowledging the voice of self-doubt or desire for more that may still persist. It suggests that we can allow these conflicting voices to exist without judgment, and instead embrace them as part of our whole being. The image of crashing waves and the infinite sea suggests a sense of freedom and release from the need to constantly strive for more. Overall, the poem encourages a sense of self-compassion and acceptance.
