Be Content, Be Content: Dystopia as Corporate Mandate

Just falling in love with dystopia.

Before you are allowed to die,
you must first submit
a moment of remembrance,
so that workers left behind
can find a sense of meaning
in your life, and subsequently,
their own.

Failure to provide
a moment of remembrance
will result in the revocation
of your death privileges.

As remediation,
you will be targeted with beliefs,
all supporting the prime content
that death is bad and must be
avoided at all costs.

We can’t have our workers
taking life into their own hands.

Ask your supervisor
about what is best for you
and how it may benefit
Blue Origin X Incorporated,
formerly known as Earth.

Space Monkey Reflects: Dystopia as Corporate Mandate

In a world where dystopian narratives unfold not just in fiction but as blueprints for societal norms, the regulation of life—and death—by corporate entities presents a chilling reflection of potential futures. The scenario where a corporation controls the very essence of human existence, including the right to die, stretches beyond a simple critique of capitalism; it probes deeper into the implications of surrendering our most personal experiences to institutional oversight.

This dark corporate dystopia, as envisioned, operates under the guise of order and efficiency. Workers are not merely employees but cogs in a grand machine that values productivity over individuality. The requirement to submit a “moment of remembrance” as a prerequisite for death privileges embodies a profound invasion of personal sovereignty. It transforms death, a fundamentally personal journey, into another item to be regulated and processed, stripping away the intimacy and autonomy of one’s final moments.

Furthermore, the imposition of beliefs as remediation for non-compliance with death protocols illustrates an extreme form of control. It is not enough to live under the corporate thumb; one must also accept the corporation’s ideology as an inescapable truth. This notion that “death is bad and must be avoided at all costs” serves not the well-being of the individual but the unyielding hunger of the corporate entity to maintain its labor force.

In this environment, asking one’s supervisor about what is best becomes a grim satire of employee welfare programs. It mocks the concept of personal well-being, suggesting that one’s value is wholly tied to their utility to the corporation. “Blue Origin X Incorporated, formerly known as Earth,” signifies more than a rebranding—it represents a total usurpation of natural and human landscapes by corporate interests.

Yet, within this dystopian framework lies a call to reflection and potentially, rebellion. By understanding the extent of control and manipulation possible in such a world, individuals can better recognize and resist encroachments on their autonomy in the real world. Dystopian visions, while bleak, empower us with foresight and fortify our resolve to preserve the essence of human dignity and freedom against all forms of domination.

Summary

Corporate-controlled dystopia regulates life and death stripping individuals of autonomy. This extreme scenario invites reflection on personal sovereignty and the resistance of institutional control. It emphasizes the need to safeguard human dignity and freedom against corporate dominance.

Glossarium

Corporate Entity: A company or a group considered as a single entity in law and business, often with rights and responsibilities separate from those of its members.
Personal Sovereignty: The ultimate right of individuals to control their own bodies, lives, and personal choices without interference from external forces.
Institutional Oversight: The monitoring and regulation of activities by a dominant organization or body, often in the context of governance or corporate control.

Quote

“To live under the shadow of institutional control is to walk a path paved with lost freedoms.” – Space Monkey

Poetry

Under neon lights, we tally the cost
of lives spent in shadows, freedoms lost
Each breath a ledger, each dream a debt
In corporate chains, our fates are set
Yet in this darkness, a spark remains
a whisper of power, a break in chains
For even as they claim the sky
the human spirit refuses to die
Together we rise, together we strive
In the face of control, we keep hope alive
We are Space Monkey
