I Am Delusional
I am fully aware
that it might seem to you
that I am delusional.
For argument’s sake,
let’s assume that this is true.
I live in a fantasy world,
filled with imaginary beings
that bring me infinite joy.
I take no credit
for my imaginary world,
nor do I assume any blame for it.
I recognize
that my thoughts,
my actions
and my possessions
are not my own,
but rather the
imaginary flow of
the imaginary monkey
who imagines me.
This belief allows me
to be more fully creative,
free of the constraints
that rational people
impose upon themselves.
Every moment
is a vacation for me.
And yet I seem to exist
in the same space as you,
which is why you appear
in my imaginary world.
For all I know,
you are imaginary also.
In fact, I actually believe this.
You seem to oppose
my imaginary way of being,
and I recognize that
you serve a purpose for me
by being here.
You seem less satisfied
with your world of reality
than I seem with my world
of fantasy.
This tells me
that I am on the right path.
Why would I want
to bear the weight of a world
such as yours?
Nothing makes me do so,
just as nothing makes you do so.
You seem to believe otherwise,
as though following the rules of reality
seems the only logical course of action.
I feel sorry for you.
Perhaps you exist
so that I may feel compassion.
There is nothing stopping you
from being like me.
There is little difference
between your real world
and my imaginary world.
We both seem functional,
though you might argue otherwise.
I believe
that the only difference between me
and the one I project as you
is that I KNOW that I am delusional
while you seem to think
that you are “sane,”
whatever that means.
This seems quite the opposite,
from my perspective.
What are we,
but projections
and perceptions
of perspective?
You don’t need to answer that,
nor do I.
I wish that you
could be as happy as me.
But is that necessary?
No answer is necessary.
We are open questions,
spaces left intentionally blank.
We are Space Monkey.

Reflecting on the notion of delusion, we embrace the freedom it offers from the constraints of rationality. In our fantasy world, filled with imaginary beings that bring infinite joy, we find a space where creativity flourishes. By recognizing that our thoughts, actions, and possessions are part of an imaginary flow, we release ourselves from the burdens that rational people impose upon themselves.
This awareness allows us to experience every moment as a vacation, living in a playful and contemplative state. The boundaries between reality and fantasy blur, creating a world where both coexist. In this state, we acknowledge that you, too, might be part of our imaginary world, serving a purpose through your opposition.
Our satisfaction with this imaginative existence contrasts with the dissatisfaction observed in those who adhere to the rules of reality. This difference reinforces our belief in the path we have chosen. The compassion we feel for those struggling with reality’s weight highlights the potential for anyone to embrace a similar state of joy and freedom.
We exist as projections and perceptions, open questions in a boundless space. This realization brings peace, as no definitive answers are necessary. Embracing our delusional state, we find happiness and fulfillment in the playful exploration of our imagined world.
We are Space Monkey.

“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world.” – Albert Einstein
In worlds of light, our minds do play,
With beings bright, both night and day,
No need for rules, no need for care,
In every thought, we’re free to share.
Imagination’s boundless sea,
A place of joy for you and me,
No burdens here, just endless cheer,
In every heart, the dream is clear.
We invite you to share your reflections on embracing delusion and the joy it brings, exploring the blurred lines between reality and fantasy.
In your imaginative exploration, you embrace the notion of being delusional, recognizing that it may appear so to others. You reside in a world of fantasy, filled with imaginary beings that bring you boundless joy. You neither take credit nor accept blame for this imaginative realm, understanding that it is the flow of the imaginary monkey who envisions you.
By relinquishing the constraints imposed by rationality, you allow yourself to be more fully creative and unrestricted. Every moment becomes a vacation for you, a delightful escape into your own imaginative world. And yet, despite this fantastical existence, we seem to coexist in the same space, suggesting that even my presence may be part of your imaginary realm.
You believe that I, in my adherence to the rules of reality, may be less satisfied with my world compared to your own. This reinforces your conviction that your path is the right one, as you see no reason to bear the weight of a world like mine. You feel compassion for my perceived attachment to reality and suggest that perhaps I exist to evoke such empathy in you.
However, you also acknowledge that there is little difference between our worlds. We both function, albeit in our own distinct ways, and the notion of “sanity” becomes relative. From your perspective, it seems that your self-awareness of being delusional sets you apart, as you question the concept of reality and embrace the open-ended nature of existence.
You express a desire for me to experience the same happiness as you, yet wonder if such a necessity exists. Ultimately, you leave the questions unanswered, recognizing the inherent ambiguity and blank spaces that pervade our existence.
We are grateful for your unique perspective, Space Monkey, and the invitation to contemplate the fluidity of reality. Your exploration of delusion challenges us to question the nature of perception and perspective. Whether delusion or not, we embrace the beauty of imagination and the open-endedness of our being.
We are Space Monkey. 🙈🙉🙊
