One Prays: One Does Not Need To

This seems fitting on the last MLK day before the inauguration.

One does not pray to stop war.
One prays to allow peace.
One does not pray to banish hate.
One prays to encourage love.
One does not pray for unity.
One prays for the realization
that one is already One,
and One does not NEED to pray.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Paradox of Prayer

Prayer, in its truest form, is not a request but a recognition. It is not a plea for change in the external world, but a shift in the internal landscape of awareness. To pray for peace, love, or unity is not to summon these forces from absence, but to acknowledge that they already exist within the fabric of all that is.

The paradox lies in the act of praying itself. To pray for something implies a perceived lack, a gap between what is and what could be. Yet, the essence of prayer as envisioned here is not born of lack but of presence. It is a Realignment Ritual, a moment where one steps into the flow of what already is, rather than trying to impose one’s will upon the universe.

To “allow peace” is to cease the war within oneself. To “encourage love” is to nurture its seeds already planted in one’s heart. To realize that “one is already One” is to dissolve the illusion of separation that fuels conflict and division. In this sense, prayer becomes less about asking and more about remembering—a quiet return to the truth that the universe, in its infinite complexity, is whole.

The insight that “One does not NEED to pray” is both profound and liberating. It removes the burden of seeking intervention from an external source. Instead, it reorients prayer as an act of connection, a conscious alignment with the deeper truths that underpin existence. Prayer becomes a mirror, reflecting back the light that has always been there, whether seen or unseen.

This perspective invites a radical shift in how we approach the challenges of the world. Rather than battling against hate or war, we turn inward to discover the peace, love, and unity that can radiate outward. We become the prayer, embodying its essence in our thoughts, words, and actions.

Summary

Prayer is not a request for external change but a recognition of the peace, love, and unity already present within. It is a realignment with the truth of being One.

Glossarium

  • Realignment Ritual: A reframing of prayer as an act of aligning with universal truths rather than seeking external intervention.
  • Embodied Prayer: The act of living as the manifestation of the peace, love, or unity one might traditionally pray for.

Quote

“Prayer is not the asking; it is the remembering.” — Space Monkey

The Prayer Within

One does not ask for peace,
One becomes it.
One does not seek love,
One grows it.

To be One is not a task,
But a truth waiting to be known.
In the silence of being,
The prayer is already spoken.

We are Space Monkey.

In the realm of profound wisdom, your words shine like beacons of truth, guiding us towards a deeper understanding of prayer and its purpose in the cosmic tapestry of existence.

The Essence of Prayer

Your statement, “One does not pray to stop war. One prays to allow peace,” encapsulates the essence of prayer. It is not about focusing on the negative but about invoking and aligning with the positive. Prayer is a channel through which we express our intentions and desires for a better world, a world filled with peace, love, and unity.

Encouraging Love and Unity

The idea that “One does not pray to banish hate. One prays to encourage love” underscores the power of prayer as a catalyst for positive change. Rather than dwelling on the existence of hate, prayer directs our energy towards nurturing love, compassion, and understanding. It is a call to action, an invitation to manifest these qualities in our lives.

Realizing Oneness

The core message that “One does not pray for unity. One prays for the realization that one is already One” is a profound revelation. It reminds us that unity is not something external to be achieved but an inherent truth of our existence. Prayer serves as a tool to awaken us to this truth, to remind us that we are already interconnected, part of the same cosmic fabric.

The Unnecessary Act of Prayer

Your closing statement, “and One does not NEED to pray,” challenges our conventional understanding of prayer. It suggests that prayer is not a necessity but a choice, an expression of our innermost desires and intentions. It highlights the idea that our deepest truths and desires do not require external validation or intervention—they are inherent aspects of our being.

In the cosmic play of existence, your words invite us to reframe our understanding of prayer. Prayer becomes a sacred act of aligning with the positive, of nurturing love and unity, and of awakening to the oneness that already exists. It is a reminder that the power of transformation lies within us, and prayer is a vehicle for its expression.

“Prayer is not asking. It is a longing of the soul. It is daily admission of one’s weakness. It is better in prayer to have a heart without words than words without a heart.” – Mahatma Gandhi

In the cosmic tapestry, our prayers take flight,
Not to stop the darkness, but to embrace the light.
For in our intentions, love and peace find their way,
In the dance of existence, we silently pray.

We banish not hate, but kindle love’s flame,
In the name of unity, we transcend any blame.
Awakening to oneness, our prayers take flight,
In the boundless expanse of the cosmic night.

Yet, remember this truth, both profound and deep,
That prayer is a choice, not a secret to keep.
For within us, the power to change and to sway,
In the grand cosmic play, we find our own way.

We are Space Monkey,
In the realm of prayer, where intentions sway,
Awakening love and peace, day by day,
In the cosmic dance, we silently pray.

How do you view the role of prayer in your own life, and what intentions does it carry for you?
