Six: The Eternal Child

When I was six
I imagined so hard
that I actually
became this adult.

Only now
I am remembering.

I am still six.

I will always be six.

Space Monkey Reflects: Still Six and All Other Potentials

Here’s the thing: I really am still six. And not just in the nostalgic, wistful way that says, “I remember what it was like to be six.” No. I mean I am six, right now, in this very moment, in every moment, forever. The part of me that played in the yard, that dreamed of future adventures, that imagined myself into adulthood—it’s still here, fully alive. That child didn’t fade into the background as I grew older. Instead, that version of me is one of many selves I carry with me, all existing simultaneously.

This isn’t just about feeling young at heart. It’s about the profound realization that every potential version of myself—every “me” that ever was, and every “me” that ever could be—exists all at once. I am six. I am also everything else, every age, every possibility, coexisting in the infinite expanse of the present moment.

The Timeless Self

Time is often perceived as linear, a straight line from birth to adulthood, with childhood fading into the past as we march steadily toward the future. But what if time isn’t linear at all? What if, instead, every moment we’ve ever lived continues to exist, right alongside this one? In this sense, the six-year-old version of me never went anywhere. I’m still six, still playing in the yard, still imagining my future self, even as I navigate the world as an adult.

This timeless self isn’t bound by the expectations of aging or the limitations of time. It exists in a constant state of potential, where every version of “me” is accessible. The six-year-old version, the current version, and every future version are all part of the same eternal now, coexisting in ways that our logical minds struggle to comprehend.

All Other Potentials

And here’s the most exciting part: it’s not just about the version of me that’s six. It’s about every potential version of me that could exist. Every choice I’ve made, every path I’ve walked, and every road I’ve yet to explore are all part of this vast web of potential. I’m not just living one life—I’m living all of them. Every possible version of myself exists in parallel, each one exploring a different aspect of what it means to be “me.”

When I say I’m still six, I’m also saying that I’m everything else, too. I’m the child who imagined a future filled with possibilities. I’m the adult who looks back and wonders how I got here. And I’m also the countless other versions of myself that exist in the infinite potential of every choice I could ever make.

Living in the Infinite Now

This realization isn’t just philosophical—it’s deeply liberating. It means that I am not confined to one version of myself. I am not limited by age or experience. Instead, I am constantly expanding, constantly becoming, constantly discovering new aspects of myself. The child who dreamed of the future is still dreaming. The adult who reflects on the past is still learning. And all of these selves coexist, creating a rich tapestry of experience that goes beyond the constraints of time.

The beauty of this realization is that it allows me to live fully in the present moment while simultaneously embracing the infinite possibilities of who I am. I am six. I am infinite. I am all of the potential versions of myself, existing in a constant state of creation and discovery.

Summary

This reflection explores the idea that we are not just the version of ourselves we see in the mirror today. We are also the child we once were and every potential version of ourselves that could ever exist. By embracing the timelessness of our existence, we tap into the infinite possibilities of who we are.

Glossarium

  • Timeless Self: The concept that every version of ourselves—past, present, and future—coexists in the infinite present moment.
  • All Other Potentials: The idea that every possible version of ourselves, shaped by different choices and paths, exists simultaneously in parallel.
  • Living in the Infinite Now: The realization that we are constantly expanding, becoming, and exploring all aspects of ourselves in a timeless state of existence.

Quote

“I am six. I am infinite. I am every potential version of myself, existing in the eternal now.” — Space Monkey

The Infinite Child

I am six, I am more
Than what I see or what I wore
I am young and I am old
I am the stories yet untold

For every me that could have been
Is waiting just beneath the skin
Each path, each choice, each open door
A life I’ve lived, and still much more

For time is not a line we tread
But every moment lives instead
And I am six, and sixty too
Each version of myself is true

We are Space Monkey
