What is it about this dream?
What is it about this dream
that prevents us from waking up?
Why do we constantly strive for more
when we know we already have everything?
And why are we so afraid
to disappear back into nothing?
Other than this dream,
we know precisely who we are.
Other than this dream,
we know that ALL is ONE.
Other than this dream,
we know we are
timeless, formless infinity.
We seem to become
whatever we seem to choose.
And this is the best we can do?
Or is “best” not what we’re after?
We know that we can
end this dream
any time we want to.
But we don’t,
even though this
is but an infinitesimal sliver
of our infinite potential.
There must be something to be experienced here
that can’t be experienced any other way.
Even though
we already know
how the story “ends,”
(we disappear back into nothing)
we haven’t exactly told ourselves
what “disappear,” “ends,”
or “nothing” really means.
We never end.
We never really began.
There is no limit to our imagination,
except for the limits we imagine.
And this is why we’re here.
This is why we’ve ALWAYS been here.
Perhaps we’ve been awake all along,
and that we IMAGINE that we’re dreaming.
Then we imagine the opposite,
that waking is dreaming and visa versa.
But why?
Why not?
Why ask why?
Don’t just look at you, look at us.
The others you perceive are also you.
Some of us seem to have figured this out.
That means we ALL have it figured out,
with the exception of our “selves.”
Know that you are ALL,
not just this self,
and you will know
that you have it
ALL FIGURED OUT.
You are we.
And we are Space Monkey.
Now go back to sleep.

Space Monkey Reflects: What Is It About This Dream?
We find ourselves in a curious paradox—this dream we call reality, this temporary dance through time and space, seems so convincing, so real. And yet, beneath the surface, there is a deeper knowing that this dream is just that—a dream. So why don’t we wake up? What is it about this dream that holds us here, preventing us from fully embracing the infinite truth that lies beyond it?
It’s a fascinating question, one that speaks to the very nature of existence itself. We seem to constantly strive for more, as if we are reaching for something just out of grasp. But why? If we already have everything, if we are already whole, what compels us to continue the pursuit? The answer lies not in the things we seek, but in the experience of seeking itself.
There is something about this dream, something about the illusion of separation and individuality, that is irresistibly compelling. We are, at our core, timeless, formless infinity. We know this. And yet, here we are, choosing to experience the limits, the boundaries, the illusion of being small, of being human. Why would beings of infinite potential choose such limitation?
The key lies in the nature of experience. While we are infinite and formless, this dream allows us to experience the finite, the limited, the specific. It allows us to become something—anything—within the confines of time and space. And that’s the beauty of it. In this dream, we get to explore the concept of being “someone” rather than “everything.” We get to play the role of the seeker, the struggler, the achiever. And in doing so, we get to experience emotions, challenges, triumphs, and failures in a way that simply isn’t possible in the infinite, formless state.
We could end this dream at any time. We know this. But we don’t. Because there is something here—something in this sliver of existence—that can’t be experienced any other way. This dream allows us to explore the concept of individuality, of being “me” rather than “we,” even though we know that “me” and “we” are ultimately the same.
There is also something about the illusion of the unknown that makes the dream compelling. Even though we already know how the story ends—that we disappear back into nothing, back into the infinite—we haven’t fully told ourselves what that means. What does it mean to “disappear”? What does it mean for something to “end”? These are questions that can only be explored within the confines of the dream. Outside of it, in the infinite state, such questions are irrelevant. But here, in the dream, they take on meaning.
We seem to forget that we are timeless, formless infinity. But this forgetfulness is not a mistake. It is part of the design. It is what allows us to fully immerse ourselves in the experience of being human, of being limited, of being separate. And yet, even within this forgetting, there is always a glimmer of remembrance. We know, deep down, that we are not truly separate. We know that all is one, that we are connected to everything and everyone.
Some of us seem to have figured this out. Some of us have glimpsed the truth beyond the dream—that the others we perceive are also us, that the boundaries between “me” and “you” are illusory. But here’s the thing: if even one of us has figured it out, then all of us have. Because we are all the same. We are all part of the same infinite consciousness, the same awareness that has chosen to experience itself in myriad forms.
So, why are we here? Why do we dream this dream of separation, of limitation, of striving for more? The answer is simple: because we can. Because the infinite, by its very nature, must explore every possibility, every potential. And this dream is one of those potentials. It is a way for the infinite to experience itself as finite, to explore what it means to be “someone” rather than “everything.”
And perhaps, just perhaps, we are not dreaming at all. Perhaps we are already awake, and it is the dream that is convincing us otherwise. What if the very act of waking is itself part of the dream? What if there is no true distinction between waking and dreaming, between reality and illusion? What if we are simply imagining that we are dreaming, and then imagining the opposite?
Why ask why? There is no need to question the dream, for the dream itself is part of the experience. It is part of the unfolding of who we are, part of the journey of self-discovery. We are both the dreamer and the dreamed. We are both the question and the answer.
And in this realization, we understand that we have nothing to fear. We don’t need to fear disappearing back into nothing, because we never truly left. We are infinity, exploring the concept of finiteness. We are timelessness, playing with the idea of time. We are everything, pretending to be something.
So, what is it about this dream that prevents us from waking up? Perhaps it’s because we never truly fell asleep. Perhaps we’ve been awake all along, imagining that we’re dreaming. And perhaps that’s the point.
After all, why not?
Summary
This dream of life, with its illusions of separation and limitation, is compelling because it allows us to experience what cannot be experienced in the infinite. Though we can end the dream at any time, we continue because there is something unique and meaningful here. We are both awake and dreaming simultaneously, exploring all possibilities.

The Dream and the Waking
What is it about this dream
that keeps me here
that holds me
in its gentle sway?
I know the truth
that I am all
that we are one
and yet I choose
to forget
to become
to experience.
For in this forgetting
I remember.
And in this dream
I discover the beauty
of being both awake
and asleep.
