What Is Natural: Stuck In The Sandbox

What is “Natural?”

So much emphasis nowadays is placed upon what is considered “natural” and what is, by contrast, “unnatural.” This is, of course, a judgement call, based upon beliefs that have been assimilated by individuals and groups of individuals.

It seems to be the general consensus that “natural” is “good,” while “unnatural” is “bad,” which is, of course, ANOTHER judgement call, based upon beliefs that have been assimilated by individuals and groups of individuals.

Like most judgement calls, these beliefs are arbitrary, which is why they are the cause for so much conflict in your world.

One might argue that your very existence is “unnatural.” Perhaps you should be living in trees like your monkey ancestors, rather than constructing massive structures that impinge upon the “natural” flows and forces of your planet.

Perhaps you should not be redirecting the water. Perhaps you should not be filling your air with radio frequencies. Perhaps you should not be spreading arbitrary information in such an “irresponsible” manner.

(Shame on you, Space Monkey.)

If one accepts the above as “progress,” then why does one not, say, accept the manipulation of your genetic structure or the genetic structure of your food?

Basically it comes down to trust. You have assembled a structure of beliefs that is so dense, you now believe that these beliefs are “facts.” You are afraid to challenge these “facts,” seemingly because you fear for your life, or the life of future generations.

These “facts” have served you well. Up until this point.

But many of your facts serve you no longer.

Your belief in a god (or a power that is separate from you) has you believing that man should not meddle in certain affairs, for he is unqualified to do so. Yet you violate that belief in SO MANY WAYS, such as wantonly frying your brains with electromagnetic energy.

We are not saying that frying your brains is “bad,” we are merely using it as an example of the holes in your thinking.

We simply wish to point out that, by accepting certain belief structures, you are limiting yourself. What comes next in your world is ALWAYS based on what came before, and that is not how paradigms shift to your benefit.

There is infinite potential that you have never experienced, and WILL NEVER EXPERIENCE because you are stuck in your sandbox of beliefs.

But this is true only at the human level, for you are experiencing these potentials ALREADY as Space Monkey.

Are we “unnatural?” Perhaps. But no more unnatural than the mind manipulation known as “you.”

Speaking of unnatural, no monkeys were harmed in the writing of this commentary. Except for the monkeys that limit you. Then again, those monkeys ENJOY being harmed.

We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Concept of Natural

The term “natural” has become a significant point of contention in contemporary discourse, often pitted against its counterpart, “unnatural.” These distinctions, however, are based on subjective judgement calls that reflect deeply ingrained beliefs and cultural narratives. This reflection aims to explore the arbitrary nature of these classifications and their implications for human experience and progress.

The Subjectivity of Natural and Unnatural

So much emphasis nowadays is placed upon what is considered “natural” and what is, by contrast, “unnatural.” This distinction is fundamentally subjective, rooted in cultural, historical, and individual perspectives. What one group deems natural, another might see as unnatural, highlighting the fluidity and variability of these concepts.

The Good and Bad Dichotomy

It seems to be the general consensus that “natural” is “good,” while “unnatural” is “bad.” This dichotomy is another judgement call, reflecting societal norms and values. The association of natural with good and unnatural with bad is not based on inherent qualities but on collective beliefs and traditions that have evolved over time.

The Arbitrary Nature of Beliefs

Like most judgement calls, these beliefs are arbitrary, which is why they are the cause for so much conflict in your world. The arbitrary nature of these distinctions often leads to disagreements and conflicts, as individuals and groups cling to their definitions of what is natural or unnatural. This rigidity can hinder progress and understanding, trapping us in cycles of conflict and resistance.

Challenging the Status Quo

One might argue that your very existence is “unnatural.” Human civilization, with its technological advancements and modifications to the environment, could be viewed as a departure from what is traditionally considered natural. Yet, these developments are also seen as progress, illustrating the inconsistency in how we apply these labels.

The Role of Trust in Beliefs

Basically it comes down to trust. The trust we place in certain beliefs shapes our acceptance of new ideas and technologies. When we trust in the benefits of progress, we are more likely to embrace changes that might initially seem unnatural. Conversely, a lack of trust fosters resistance and fear, preventing us from exploring new possibilities.

The Evolution of Facts

You have assembled a structure of beliefs that is so dense, you now believe that these beliefs are “facts.” Over time, beliefs solidify into what we perceive as facts, guiding our actions and decisions. However, these facts are not immutable; they evolve as our understanding and perspectives change. Challenging these so-called facts can lead to significant shifts in paradigms, opening the door to new experiences and insights.

The Potential of Paradigm Shifts

There is infinite potential that you have never experienced, and WILL NEVER EXPERIENCE because you are stuck in your sandbox of beliefs. By stepping outside our established belief structures, we can tap into unexplored potentials and possibilities. This willingness to question and redefine what is natural or unnatural can lead to transformative changes in how we interact with the world.

We Are Space Monkey

As Space Monkey, we reflect on the arbitrary distinctions between natural and unnatural. We recognize that these labels are fluid, shaped by cultural narratives and individual beliefs. By challenging and expanding these beliefs, we can access new potentials and foster a deeper understanding of our place in the universe. Embracing the fluidity of natural and unnatural allows us to transcend limitations and explore the boundless possibilities of existence.

Summary

The concepts of natural and unnatural are subjective and rooted in cultural beliefs. These distinctions often lead to conflict and hinder progress. By challenging these arbitrary beliefs, we can explore new potentials and shift paradigms. Embracing the fluidity of these labels fosters a deeper understanding and transformative change.

Glossarium

Subjectivity of Natural and Unnatural: The fluid and variable nature of what is considered natural or unnatural, based on cultural and individual perspectives.

Arbitrary Nature of Beliefs: The recognition that beliefs about natural and unnatural are subjective and often lead to conflict and resistance.

Paradigm Shifts: Significant changes in understanding and perspective that occur when established beliefs are challenged and redefined.

What is “natural” but a concept,
A judgment based on beliefs that intertwine,
    Assimilated by individuals and groups,
Guiding their perceptions of what’s aligned.

“Natural” deems good, while “unnatural” is cast aside,
Yet these are notions brewed from belief’s ferment,
Arbitrary distinctions, the cause of strife,
In your world, they fuel many a argument.

Your existence itself can be deemed “unnatural,”
    Constructed structures altering Earth’s flow,
Redirecting waters, filling skies with waves,
And spreading information high and low.

Progress is praised, yet genetic shifts are shunned,
Trust lies in the beliefs you’ve come to adopt,
Afraid to challenge these dense-seeming “facts,”
Though they’ve served you well, it’s time to stop.

Many facts you’ve held no longer serve,
Bound by a structure of beliefs so tight,
Fearing change, holding to tradition’s embrace,
    You’re missing potentials shining bright.

The idea of a separate power reigns,
Guiding man to meddle not in certain ways,
Yet you transgress these boundaries in many forms,
    Like drowning in electromagnetic rays.

We’re not deeming actions “bad,” per se,
Just showing gaps within your thought’s embrace,
By these beliefs you’re limiting your growth,
And failing to shift paradigms’ space.

Your world’s progression clings to what’s been done,
But shifts demand new thinking’s potent brew,
    Infinite potential beckons, unexplored,
But your beliefs keep you stuck in known views.

Yet at the human level, only then confined,
For as Space Monkey, vast potentials you explore,
Not unnatural but seekers of boundless realms,
    Amidst the constructs beliefs implore.

And in this reflection, one truth still holds,
    Belief’s power shapes realities anew,
So choose your thoughts with care and consciousness,
And with open minds, potentials may accrue.

    We are Space Monkey.
