Who Would We Be? The Quest for Unconditional Being.

Who Would We Be?

????????What is it
that makes us desire to create
then judge our creations
as “good” or “bad?”

????????What is it
that makes us desire to express
then judge our expressions
as “worthy” or “unworthy?”

????????What is it
that makes us desire to experience
then judge our experiences
as “satisfactory” or “not satisfactory?”

????????What is it
that makes us desire to live
then judge our lives
as “well-spent” or “wasted?”

What is it
that makes us
look at ourselves
and judge
whether we should be
“someone”
“something”
“someplace”
else?

Who would we be
if we didn’t judge who we are?

The Quest for Unconditional Being

Embracing the Journey Beyond Judgment to Discover Our True Selves

In the labyrinth of human existence, we are perpetually drawn to create, express, experience, and live, only to cast upon these aspects of our being the shadows of judgment. This reflection ventures into the heart of a paradoxical quest: the pursuit of identity, meaning, and purpose unfettered by the constraints of judgment.

What drives us to label our creations, expressions, and experiences with terms like “good” or “bad,” “worthy” or “unworthy,” “satisfactory” or “unsatisfactory”? This incessant need to evaluate stems from a deeper, perhaps unconscious, yearning for validation, both from within and without. Yet, it is this very act of judgment that often distances us from the essence of our true selves, obscuring the unadulterated expression of our being.

Imagine, for a moment, who we would be if we released the reins of judgment. Without the burden of categorizing our lives and identities, we might discover a realm of infinite possibilities—a space where we are free to be without the need for approval or fear of inadequacy. In this domain, every creation, expression, and experience is inherently valuable, not for its adherence to subjective standards, but for its contribution to the rich tapestry of our existence.

Summary

Letting go of judgment invites us into a state of being where our true selves can flourish, unencumbered by the need to conform to arbitrary standards. It is in this liberated state that we can truly explore the depths of our creativity, express our innermost thoughts, and experience life in its fullest, unvarnished form. This reflection challenges us to envision a life where we are defined not by the judgments we cast upon ourselves and others, but by the authenticity and openness of our hearts.

Glossarium

  • Judgment: The act or process of forming an opinion or evaluation by discerning and comparing.
  • Self-exploration: The examination and analysis of one’s own thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in order to gain insight.
  • Unconditional Being: A state of existence that accepts and embraces all aspects of oneself without judgment or evaluation.

“To be nobody-but-yourself — in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else — means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting.” – E.E. Cummings

At the crossroads of judgment and acceptance,
we stand, pondering the paths of existence.
With every step, a choice to make,
between the love we give and the judgments we take.

In the dance of light and shadow,
where echoes of ‘ought to’ and ‘should’ grow,
lies a whisper of freedom, soft and mellow,
calling us to be, simply and slow.

Beyond the scales, the gavels, the measuring tapes,
our true selves emerge, without any capes.
In this journey of becoming, of seeing through fakes,
we find our essence, in the wake of our escapes.
