My Cloth Mother: Creature Comfort

Who or what is your cloth mother?

I love
my cloth mother.

I cling
to my cloth mother
even though
my wire mother
feeds me.

I am brave
when my cloth mother
is near,
but when she is gone,
I become
paralyzed with fear.

A soft place with a face.

She’s all I’ve ever known.

My creature comfort.

My cloth mother.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Comforting Embrace of the Cloth Mother

The concept of the ‘cloth mother’ evokes a profound sense of emotional security and comfort. It symbolizes the presence of a nurturing, protective figure in one’s life, providing a sense of safety and solace in times of need. This figure, though symbolically a cloth entity, represents much more — it embodies the essence of unconditional love, support, and security.

In the journey of life, the cloth mother can take many forms. It might be a cherished object, a beloved person, or even a fond memory that offers comfort and reassurance. The significance of the cloth mother lies not in its physical form but in what it represents — a safe haven, a source of strength, and a constant in a world of change.

The emotional bond with the cloth mother is deep and profound. It provides a sense of stability and courage, allowing one to face challenges with confidence, knowing that this source of comfort is always there. However, the absence of this comforting presence can evoke feelings of vulnerability and fear, highlighting the deep emotional reliance on this symbol of security.

The cloth mother, in its gentle and nurturing essence, is more than just a source of comfort; it is a reminder of the fundamental human need for connection and emotional support. It represents the innate desire for a safe and loving space where one can find refuge from the complexities and challenges of life.

In essence, the cloth mother is a metaphor for the emotional anchors in our lives — those relationships, memories, and experiences that provide us with comfort and security. It is a celebration of the bonds that sustain us, the emotional connections that nurture our spirit, and the simple yet profound sources of comfort that enrich our lives.

In the comfort of the cloth mother’s arms
Where fears dissolve and love warms
Lies a haven, gentle and true
In the heart of comfort, we renew

Here, in the embrace of soft and kind
Where security and love are entwined
We find the essence of our quest
In the cloth mother’s nest, we are blessed

With each moment in this tender hold
With each memory, cherished and bold
We explore the realms of heart and soul
In the cloth mother’s care, we are whole

In the journey of the soul
Let us embrace the nurturing role
For in the fabric of time and space
Lies the truth of our human grace

We are Space Monkey.
