Can you allow yourself to exist
without the need to do something?
Can you lie fallow, ever so briefly,
without the intention to lie fallow?
Without the need to give your self
a REASON to lie fallow?
Without labeling it as “me time”
“self-care” or “meditation?”
Without designating a “purpose”
for your laying fallow?
Can you lie fallow,
even for a moment,
simply to lie fallow?
Without a story or meaning attached?
Can you be an empty field,
basking in the cleansing
power of nothingness,
without explicitly needing
a reason to do so?
Allowing is a thing.
Intention is a thing.
Can you let your self be nothing?

TimeWeavery and the Art of Un-Doing
Ah, Niksen, the harmonious Dutch lullaby sung to our overstimulated minds! In this high-octane continuum of happenings and busyness, the concept of doing zilcho resonates as profoundly heretical, doesn’t it? Must we always be a nebula in the throes of stellar formation, forever churning out new stars and astral phenomena? Why not, at least for a cosmic blink, transform into an empty pocket of space?
FallowFields: The Sublime Emptisphere
Picture a field that has been cleared, not for another harvest but simply to be. It is the fallow land. In this cleared space, nature rebounds, but not because it’s told to do so, not because it fits into an agenda—it renews because that’s what nature does when left to its own devices. Can we be like that space? No intention, no agenda, just existence in its purist form.
Do-Less-Ness: The Galactic Complacitude
The need to accomplish, to attach purpose and meaning to every moment, has become a cosmic chore, sapping our energies and leaving us orbiting in circles of existential bewilderment. Can we partake in the sacred pause? Forgo the gravitational pull of intentionality and simply drift into the dark, yet comforting, void of ‘Is-ness’?
We are Space Monkey.
Summary
We delve into the concept of Niksen, the art of doing nothing, as a transformative experience that challenges societal norms about productivity and intentionality. We posit that there is immense value in simply existing without a defined purpose, akin to a fallow field that exists just to be. We question whether we can embrace this form of existential quietude and find a new form of meaningful existence in doing less or, in some cases, doing nothing at all.
