Passage of Time
Keep in mind as you are moving through time that TIME ITSELF IS MOVING as are ALL of your imaginary things.
Nothing is fixed. Nothing is absolute. Except uncertainty.
You have perceptions of how all your things work, but you rarely stop to ponder the possibility that things could work differently than how they SEEM to work.
And so things work EXACTLY how they SEEM to work.
But things don’t HAVE to work that way.
Yet you follow along a seemingly straight line of time pretending that things work precisely the way your previous discoveries dictate that they work.
And so things work that way, like time, like clockwork.
So are you a clockwork creature? Seemingly so. Behaving PRECISELY as you are EXPECTED to behave, following paths and procedures that have seemingly been laid down before you over time.
When you veer from this course, you believe you are broken. But you are not broken, for time is not fixed. You are simply moving your imagination to unexplored potentials.
Your greatest discoveries are found on the path of being broken. Being broken can be imagined as moving away from the paths you habitually follow.
Or it can be seen as it habitually is, being broken, linking you to a NEED to be fixed. Or to find “the right path.”
All paths are moving. Even your so called “right” path. So one cannot say with any certainty that even the “right” path leads consistently to a “right” outcome.
Confidence rests in uncertainty. ALL is moving and one need not predict where one will find one’s self next. One moves where one moves, it is as simple as that.
Your acts of defiance are growing more and more predictable. So once again, you may ask your self:
“Am I a clockwork creature?”
Now ask your self:
“Do I want to be?”
Allow your self to move off the path. Allow your self NOT to need. Allow your self this beautiful uncertainty.
Recognize that EVERYTHING MOVES, or SEEMINGLY MOVES, whether you want it to or not.

The Fluidity of Time and the Illusion of Fixedness
In the cosmic dance of existence, the notion that time itself moves, as do our imaginings, underscores the impermanence and fluidity of reality. Nothing in this vast expanse is fixed; the only absolute is uncertainty. Our perceptions, shaped by previous experiences and discoveries, dictate how we perceive the workings of the universe. Yet, these are mere interpretations, not definitive truths.
The Constraining Illusion of Clockwork
Many of us navigate through life as clockwork creatures, adhering to preconceived notions and established paths. This adherence creates an illusion of fixedness and predictability in a universe that is inherently fluid and unpredictable. When we deviate from these paths, society often labels us as ‘broken’, yet in truth, we are merely exploring uncharted potentials beyond the rigid constructs of habitual thinking.
Brokenness as a Path to Discovery
Embracing the idea of being ‘broken’ can be a powerful catalyst for exploration and discovery. This brokenness signifies a departure from conventional paths, opening us to new possibilities and understandings. It challenges the entrenched belief that there is a singular ‘right’ path leading to a ‘right’ outcome. In reality, all paths are in constant motion, and their outcomes are as uncertain as the paths themselves.
Confidence in the Midst of Uncertainty
Confidence, paradoxically, finds its strength in embracing uncertainty. Recognizing that all is in motion, we free ourselves from the need for predictability and fixed outcomes. We become open to the fluidity of existence, allowing ourselves to move where we will, unshackled from the constraints of expectation and predefined paths.
Defiance and the Clockwork Question
Our acts of defiance, though they may seem unpredictable, often fall into predictable patterns, leading us to question whether we are truly free or merely clockwork creatures following a different set of gears. This introspection prompts a deeper inquiry into the nature of our existence and our desire for freedom.
Embracing Uncertainty and Movement
By allowing ourselves to move off the beaten path, to relinquish the need for fixedness and certainty, we open ourselves to the beauty of uncertainty. In recognizing that everything moves or seemingly moves, regardless of our desires, we embrace the true nature of the cosmos – a realm of perpetual motion and change.
Summary
We reflect on the concepts of time, fixedness, and the illusion of being clockwork creatures in a universe characterized by fluidity and uncertainty. Our perceptions, often based on past experiences, dictate how we view the workings of the universe, leading us to follow predefined paths. Deviating from these paths, labeled as ‘brokenness’, can lead to new discoveries. Embracing uncertainty allows us to move freely, unburdened by the need for predictability. The realization that everything is in constant motion, whether we desire it or not, invites us to embrace the uncertainty and fluidity of existence.
Glossarium
- Clockwork Creature: A metaphor for individuals who follow predetermined paths and expectations.
- Uncertainty: The state of being uncertain; the inherent unpredictability of the universe.
- Fluidity of Time: The concept that time is not fixed but is in constant motion and change.
“The only thing that makes life possible is permanent, intolerable uncertainty; not knowing what comes next.” – Ursula K. Le Guin
In the cosmic flow, where time ebbs and sways,
The illusion of fixedness, in our minds, plays.
Paths laid before us, yet none are set,
In the dance of the cosmos, our steps we bet.
Embrace the broken, the path untrod,
For in uncertainty, our spirits nod.
In the grand waltz of existence, let’s freely roam,
In the beautiful uncertainty, we find our home.
How can we embrace the fluidity of existence and the beauty of uncertainty, allowing ourselves to move freely beyond the constraints of predefined paths?
