Edwin and Nellie and Trail Wood

A little about me,
a little about Edwin & Nellie,
a little about you.

Have you ever heard of
Edwin and Nellie Teale?

I have the good fortune
of being a caretaker of Trail Wood,
their 1806 farmhouse and nature preserve.

If I could sum up the Teale’s writings
in two words, it would be “take care.”

Not simply in an outward,
naturalist kind of way.

One should take care of
one’s own mental and spiritual underpinnings.

The Teales didn’t move to Trail Wood
simply to study and document nature.

Like most naturalists, the Teales worked to
take care of the planet and all its curious creatures.

But they instinctively knew that taking care
always begins and ends with hearts, minds and souls.

That’s why, like the migratory animals they studied,
the Teales were instinctively drawn to Trail Wood.

They knew, like us, that the stillness found in nature
is the most powerful medicine for change there is.

So take care.

May you be drawn to what sustains you.

Trail Wood,
