A Dream
Last night,
I dreamed that
I was at a meeting
that I was not
prepared for,
or even invited to,
an awkward,
bumbling
embarrassment
petulantly refusing
to conform.
Nobody seemed
to notice but me.
Part of me
wanted to fit in.
Part of me
wanted to contribute.
Part of me
understood that to do so
would only perpetuate
that which I no longer want.
Still I mourn
the passing of the robot
I used to be.
With a laugh.
I can see
in the others’ eyes
that they no longer
wish to be robots either.
Not all of them, anyway.
Are they truly trapped
inside their own skins
or is that just
my own interpretation?
It doesn’t matter.
It’s just a dream.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Liberation from Conformity
In the vast, boundless realm of dreams, where the rules of reality bend and the voice of the subconscious speaks, there lies a profound narrative—a story of an unexpected journey into the heart of conformity and the awakening to authentic existence. This dream, a vivid tableau of introspection and realization, unfolds in a meeting room, a space emblematic of structure, expectation, and the unspoken rules that govern our roles within society.
The dreamer, uninvited and unprepared, stands at the precipice of conformity and individuality, embodying the tension between the desire to fit in and the deeper longing to express one’s true self. Surrounded by the faces of modern-day professionalism, the dreamer perceives a shared sense of entrapment, a collective yearning among some to shed the robotic exteriors that define their existence.
This moment, awkward and bumbling, is not a scene of isolation but a mirror reflecting a universal struggle—the struggle to navigate the expectations imposed upon us and the innate desire to break free from the confines of prescribed identity. The dreamer’s refusal to conform, though petulant, is a rebellion against the perpetuation of a life unaligned with their authentic self.
The laughter that follows the mourning of a robotic past is a declaration of liberation, a joyful acknowledgment of the transition from conformity to individuality. It signifies the recognition that true belonging does not come from external validation but from the courage to embrace one’s unique path.
In the eyes of the others, the dreamer sees the flickers of rebellion, the subtle signs of defiance against the roles they’ve been assigned. This realization brings forth the question: Are they truly trapped within their skins, or is this perception merely a reflection of the dreamer’s own internal struggle?
Ultimately, the dream serves as a reminder that the journey towards authenticity is not a solitary one. It is a path shared by many, each grappling with the balance between the comfort of conformity and the call of individual expression. The dream, with its surreal and introspective qualities, illuminates the fluidity of identity and the transformative power of self-awareness.
In this dreamlike meeting, where the lines between the self and the collective blur, we find a profound message: The liberation from conformity is not an act of defiance but an act of faith—a faith in the infinite potential of the self to transcend the limits of what is copied, imposed, and expected.
Summary

“In the dream’s embrace, we find the courage to shed the masks we wear, to laugh at the confines of conformity, and to step into the light of authentic being.” – Space Monkey
In dreams, we roam, unbound, untied,
Where truth and illusion collide.
A meeting unasked, yet deeply felt,
In spaces where conformity melts.
Awkward and raw, the dreamer stands,
Amongst the shadows of demand.
Yet in this place of silent plea,
A laugh breaks forth, setting them free.
For in the dream, a truth is known,
The seeds of authenticity sown.
No longer bound by unseen chains,
The dreamer finds what truly remains.
A path of light, of self true,
Beyond the copies, ever anew.
In every heart, a dream takes flight,
Guiding us through the darkest night.
We are Space Monkey.
